    Great vid and thanks to those mainly RPSI who contributed their locos to the show as well ! Am sure it was a great day out for all and a wonderful place to capture passing trains 😊

    worked in irish rail for 35 years,when i retired i did not even get a letter of recognition for my 35 years service,a colleague who retired a short time later, no recognition either,we both would have had a good work and attendence record,in january 2023,eighteen months after i RETIRED the last of my pension entitlements were finally paid out ,thats how long it took to be finalised,treat their employees same as their customers,

      I've heard from a few people that there is a toxic work culture in the company. That was bad of them not to acknowledge your years of service for the company.

      I myself am in the company for the past 30 years I recently was to receive a watch for my 25 years service only to be summoned to my managers office for a ten minutes slot to receive it....I refuse to accept it in this manner as other colleagues within the company are properly treated by being brought out for a meal and presented properly.... after working with the company for such a long time you would think a small bit more effort by managers would go a long way....I also know of a driver who received his 25 year watch driving through a station...
      Seems to me more needs to be done by management within the company.

      Lads sadly it’s the way now of all big companies who are run to ignore workers rather than recognise them. I worked for a huge international airline and all I got was a cheap scroll given to me on my lunch breaks as I ate my sannies

    I was on going to Limerick on the train two days after the event took place and saw a class 201 Enterprise and the Dart class 8500 parked up just as I was heading back into Dublin. Up until this video I had no idea why they there until I saw this video. A shame I wasn't there but this definitly looked liked something I would love to attend.

    Amazing place!!!
    Remember passing it bound for The West...summer holidays
    Ex Dublin Heuston
    And on the return
    Bound for Dun Laoghaire and
    London Euston
    Correct me if wrong but I seem to recall that when CIE bought coaches from Metro Cammell of Birmingham
    They were sent over in kit form
    To be assembled in Inchicore
    Irish built rolling stock!
    Daresay Metro Cammell had Irish working in the factory...

    Great video. It was indeed a great occasion and good to be back.
    However as the old buildings remain , it's sad to see the engineering carried out in these buildings has long disappeared.
    The once best equipped machine shop in the country is no longer, carriage shops look almost redundant, engine overhauls now in old wagon shop and not diesel 1.
    The best apprentice training centre in the country is no longer .
    The great memories of working there in the 90's remain.

    Brilliant Footage you Filmed Stephen!😃.I wonder will we ever see the 2700 Class DMU Trains back in Train Service again?.I have heard it being said that they still start them up from time to time, but it doesn't look like they have touched or moved much from your footage.Did you ever get any footage of them when they were in Train Service?.

    • @irishrailtrains
      @irishrailtrains  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I would have my doubts about that, I'd recon they're for scrap, they had them closed off to the public on the open day, I only managed to get a glimpse of them.
      I have hardly any video of them when they were in service, I've only like 4 shots of them at Limerick back in 2009 or 2010 while on a rail tour.

    Sad to see so many of the locomotives abandoned and out of use. Surely a few of them can be renovated for shuttle use or freight.

    • @irishrailtrains
      @irishrailtrains  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe for freight or engineering trains, but definitely not for passenger use, its unlikely they'll ever come back as they already have a sufficient amount of locomotives for the duties they need to run.
