Thank you! Long term safety is very important to me. I should be shooting a video tomorrow on hanging speakers on a hard lid ceiling. I have so many videos stored of flying speakers, but it takes time to edit and post.

Nice work it’s just those ev brackets are dirt for getting tilt and swivel directions. But very impressed with your work. I do the same job all over Ireland. From shops to massive nite clubs. It’s hard to get good installers that know what to do.

No worries about weight capacity of suspended ceiling grid?? Thanks for the great video!

If you’re under 25 lbs, there is not a problem, provided the ceiling is suspended properly. But always run a safety cable from the speaker to the structure of the building incase it falls.

What was that eraser cloth you were using? In the past I've used a 120-grit sanding sponge to take pencil/scuff marks off of tiles, but this seems to work better!

I never thought of a sanding sponge, good idea! I keep hand towels in my truck. They are good for taking off grease from my hands and tools. That install I had the brand Tub O’ Towels. They are around $14.00.

I used the Electro-Voice ZX1i-90. The i is for the install version. They come in black or white. It is a great small speaker. Very good frequency response for a smaller format room. The entire line of ZX speakers provide a great sound!

For a safety wire I uses the same wire that suspended ceiling uses, that stuff is strong. I (or had the T BAR guy do it) would have added extra T Bar/ suspended ceiling wire on the grid to help support the weight of the speaker. 20 pounds is a lot, those suspended ceiling aren't meant to support a lot of weight. Also I would have used ceiling speakers instead, those surface speakers stick out way to much, an eye sore in my opinion. Plus most ceiling speakers come with a strut/support bracket that spans the 2x2 or 2x4 grid and helps to spread the load evenly on both sides. Putting all that weight directly in the middle like that is not something I would be inclined to do.

Hello from Dublin Ireland. Those ev brackets are a pile of dirt.

Those “SAM” (strong arm mounting) brackets can be a bit of a challenge, but its a very small and clean profile.
