    I was a Strat player for 25 years and I’ve tried a lot of setups. This is very close to how I ended up setting one myself with all the years of trial I’ve had. The loosening the neck screws is something I do myself on any bolt on neck. Sometimes it doesn’t do much but I’ve also had it really improve sustain and sound and honestly it’s so easy there’s no reason not to do it every time you get a bolt on. The only thing I do differently is I leave progressively more slack on the top strings (from the 4th to 1st) where It has more wraps on each tuner as it goes towards the 1st string. I’ve found it does the same thing as the staggered newer US Fender and Sperzel tuners and puts less pressure on the string trees. I actually heard Eric Johnson mention it years ago and it definitely does help.

    This was one of the most helpful videos I've watched, Done to the point. I actually don't use a tremolo so have my bridge flat, but it's always handy to know the process. Also never done the neck plate screws lol, will do this on all my guitars.

    The string locking technique works great but I would just change one little thing. Instead of going under the string the coming up and over, go the other way, over the top and down underneath. The reason for this is that you end up with the cut off tail of the string pointing down out of harms way. Doing it your way leaves the sharp end of the string pointing up and invites cuts to your fingers - Who needs blood and pain just before a gig....unless you're a punk rocker, right :-) I've used this technique for years and it is by far the best for attaching strings -period.(although these days most of my guitar have lockers :-) ) Thanks for a great vid and review.

  • @DougHinVA
    @DougHinVA 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    the wrapping to trap a string is not needed. A Z bend is plenty and let the string bear on itself for 1 wrap around the post. Simple and secure.

    I have a g&l legacy and my action feels very high. The neck looks straight, the saddles on the bridge are at the lowest point. The bridge looks pretty parallel to the body. What else can make my action so high?

  • @psimoes.guitar
    @psimoes.guitar 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    What height do you setup the front of the bridge plate? Do you screw the two point studs all the way down and then adjust the action of each string using the saddle height?

    • @OfficialPerfectoDeCastro

      I use the bridge posts to adjust action. Saddle height for radius

  • @GuitarNTabs
    @GuitarNTabs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for running through this setup.
    I have a Strat, also with a 2-point tremolo, and I've been insecure on how to properly set it up...
    Should it really just be set up like on any other 6 screw Strat tremolo?
    The 2-point plate shouldn't be lifted slightly off the body, sitting parallel like that?
    With the way you set this up, how will regular string bends be? Will it pull the remaining strings out of tune?
    Also, you mention to use the 2 bridge bolts, to raise or lower the action, but what about the 6 individual saddles? Shouldn't they be adjusted as well?
    Thanks.
    I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

    • @OfficialPerfectoDeCastro
      @OfficialPerfectoDeCastro  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A) Not sure what you mean by the first part of your comment.
      B) String bends will pull out of tune depending on how stiff the springs are. If they are soft and active yes the remaining strings will dive when you bend
      C) Bridge bolts to adjust action | Adjust saddles to follow the fretboard radius

    • @GuitarNTabs
      @GuitarNTabs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OfficialPerfectoDeCastro - Hi there,
      Thanks for answering my question.
      A) I mean, the bridge, should it be raised a little, so it's off the body, sitting parallel, or down to the body, then slightly tilted/angled?
      B) Okay, but can that be fixed by tightening the springs a little further, or will only a decked tremolo work for that?
      C) Alright, seems to make sense - I will check that out.
      Looking forward to your reply.
      Best regards.

    • @patrickjamesworrow1130
      @patrickjamesworrow1130 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think he means, should it be parallel with the body or not? i.e. Sit tight on top of the body like a strat with a 6 screw tremolo, so its parallel. Or tilt it slightly forward so there is movement both ways.
