    Did another one(Pro ll) tonight with this. Did a Silver Sky(Se) last month and probably 4 guitars last year using this video or Fraudas. I went 40 years not using a trem because I didn’t trust them. Tried this once and now all my guitars with trem bridges are set this way. I’m actually learning to use them too! Thanks Dylan! This totally works!

    I'm only at 02:34 and just have to say THANK YOU for pointing out that action and intonation will be affected by the slight tilting of the bridge saddles. Obviously with the fulcrum slightly in front of the break angle, adjustment will need to be made. However, I've seen so many videos where the guy sets up the guitar to fine tolerances THEN floats the bridge without ever going back to make the essential minor tweaks. I usually can't be bothered to comment on those vids but I do spend way too much time shouting at my screen. I can see I won't be having that problem today. Thanks Dylan 👍 I'm confident I shall enjoy the rest of the video.

    I love this man, and thank you this has completed and confirmed my theory on the tremolo set idk procedure sounds like surgery but you make it so simple so for your time and effort i support you.
    Because I've been doing it the G-string full step up way but kinda, well yeah I've been doing it backwards, I mean tuning all the strings first then setting the G that way after I have my trem claw set and then tuning again and again and again... frustration is the word. So along with setting the bridge angle to allow for full back= G up one whole step only therefore also been completely disregarding the rest of the strings ie the high E half step etc,
    So basically this is a gem of knowledge im gonna use, thank you Dylan for sourcing the info, I'm pretty sure in the entire guitar community worldwide- no one can say that another has "stolen" without considering themselves in that grouping, stealing- (strong word)an idea off of another, first that guy you were talking about where you got this method from I'd guess he'd want people to know the right way his way for credit's sake where its due, I mean look at all the musicians big names that have "stolen" riffs, songs, concepts, pretty much its all been done So if those folks who don't know shit from soup can just keep their mouths shut knowing nothing about the history of music in this last century alone- zip it.
    I say that with extreme prejudice against "ppl not knowing wtf they are talking about" before going ahead anyway and posting it which isn't very helpful other than raising the challenge to disprove their claims of acts of plagiarism of others, personally I think these types reflect their own crap onto others. But hey I'm not hung up on what did noel Gallagher say again in that song .... "don't hang yourself up ... words, rock n roll star...?!!" Goid work yet again big fan follower!

    I use shims on basically any Strat where I'm using the trem and it's even more important when you float it, since there is no recess for the trem to go back like a Floyd setup. Stew Mac makes shims that actually are shaved wood that angle the neck .25, .5 and 1 degree but they cost like $30 but I found better ones on Amazon for $10. Usually a half degree does the trick. Beck's guitars were all modded and shimmed. The action is much more level with strings being higher.

    Note on offset claw; A tetter totter can be adjusted tremendously to achive total weightless balance, in the case of a heavy withlightweigt person.
    As a matter of fact, the universe and solar system is balanced with only, uneven eliptical orbits, of stars, objects of gas and solid material of infinite irregularity.
    Thus, what ever you need to do to balance string tension, will be beneficial in this floating trem endeavor. But this it not a haphazzard guess.
    Stick to what is mentioned here, to get to a safe place.

    I use a variation of this technique for all floating trems but I usually use a block in the back. BUT I always thought the goal was to end up with the bridge plate parallel to the surface of the body. True for Floyds or Fenders. Which means on a Fender, that was previously "dive only" you need to raise the bridge pivot posts a bit, so that it is the same height above the body at the front of the bridge plate and the back. You seem to just leave the posts alone and end up with a tilted bridge when in the "rest position". Not saying its right or wrong, but I'm curious as to the reason, and if you have any objections to the "bridge plate parallel to the body" approach I use.

    • @mikefarquhar5063
      @mikefarquhar5063 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm in your boat on this too, I've a wilkenson two tremolo system, it unless I sink the threaded bushings below top deck it will only sit about 2 -3 16ths of the deck flat parallel which I find fine for string height anyway on the partscaster I'm making it works much better now using Dylan begotten method, not stolen, I think inspired is a more truer way to describe because I do the same why because its been a total and utterly long process, and painful thorn in my side trying to find one solid way to set a tremolo, almost gave up, never gave in though l. Glad I kept on searching for the answer

    • @danielmelvin4525
      @danielmelvin4525 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nothing wrong with your set up, but forgive me if I’m wrong but you can’t get a minor third pulling up on your G string.
      The two front posts after doing this (which he seems to fail to mention) , will adjust action of guitar without changing string to spring tension.
      If guitar is set up when you do this after raising bridge it will raise your action, you can turn both posts to the right a half-full turn maybe more to get right back to your previous action.
      If you do this setup and than readjust action using saddles you’ll lose your bridge angle as the spring to string tension will change (the bridge will get more parallel with body) . Then you will lose that minor third pulling up on G string, and you’ll have to do it again. Turning the posts left or right will adjust action without detuning guitar.

    2 words.....Hipshot Tremsetter. I put 1 on a Amer deluxe plus with a Fender/ Floyd Rose 26 yrs ago so I can whammy up and down in perfect control. Strings always come back in tune.
