I didn't get how you guys think that his origins matter. He was not born in some other country, taught English there and brought here for the Spelling Bee. He was born in USA so his first language is English. That's it.
Its the way he talks actually that gives out that he is Indian-born. His body language and reactions to what was going on also give out a little. For example when was receiving the Xbox , he wasn't so ecstatic nor did he change a shade. That kind of thing is a common thing that we Indians do when we are nervous and stuff. Also , that kind of shyness and awkwardness is present only when u have moved from India. American born and raised Indians look a little more confident or rebellious sometimes. Cos they get the white people mannerisms when they are interacting. Camera shy is almost an exclusively Indian thing unlike white people who seem like they are born to stand in front of a camera.
Ashish Masih I absolutely believe that our Mexican and Indian accents are almost the same. That’s why this kid was able to figure out Guillermo’s pronunciation in one round 🏆☺️
Considering that at the national level contestants prepare for words based on a lot of different aspects, including phonetics, origins, etc. once Karthik figured out that Guillermo is just using Mexican phonetic pronunciation of words in English he could easily decipher the rest.
If you see the term "Sorry for my English" it means the person who says that is not speaking English fluently. In case I say something stupid. people will not jugde me And again Sorry for my English :)))

Jakeeboy 10 I doubt if you are saying this honestly!
you dont know indian parents
I didn't get how you guys think that his origins matter. He was not born in some other country, taught English there and brought here for the Spelling Bee. He was born in USA so his first language is English. That's it.
I don't think his first language is English. :)
Sneha Meyyappan Why is that?
And your first language is turkish
Vinay Veer JaTaV and?
*Saving it for college*
Guillermo is da best
He's literally that Mexican Bumblebee Man character from the Simpsons.
Man, I ain't no spelling bee expert, but when Guillermo said "Hairachy", I instantly get it's "Hierarchy".
Ashish Masih Same
Samee
Ashish Masih
I absolutely believe that our Mexican and Indian accents are almost the same. That’s why this kid was able to figure out Guillermo’s pronunciation in one round 🏆☺️
Ashish Masih Me too.The closet one to the real pronunciation.
Ashish Masih I am sure pretty much everyone watching this got that
40,000 dollars? In India, the prize for such competition would be two notebooks lool
The last word Guillermo said was “chaos” or is it just me ? 😂
Wherever I go I always see an Indian winning some kind of knowledge based contests. Idk why I'm not even related to this boy but I feel proud.
I always watch out for this segment every year. And like the NBA with the same teams making it to the finals. Indians always win this...
Considering that at the national level contestants prepare for words based on a lot of different aspects, including phonetics, origins, etc. once Karthik figured out that Guillermo is just using Mexican phonetic pronunciation of words in English he could easily decipher the rest.
pop5678eye good point and observation.
You are correct. I’m Mexican and I understood ALL of the words that Guillermo said lol.
I managed to get all except for porpoise and the last one that Jimmy gave up on woo hoo
That's incredible - I genuinely thought this Guilermo guy was just uttering nonsense.
@@beanboy860 I am pretty sure the last word was 'chaos.'
This kid is precious! He reminds me of my little brother! ❤️
Holy cucumbers, the kid can even spell it even when the word is sounds made up! Amazing.
I was in the audience that day!!
cellophaneboy wow good for you!!
Art boy thank you :-)
I read this really sarcastically ahhahaha
cellophaneboy great!!
@@carolines3045 same
He’s so cute , what a cool dude
Jack Maida bruh you're jealous

how on earth can someone understand those words! 😂😂
he is a genius! 😂
Looks like he's nervous
Arjun Pramod don’t tell me u wouldn’t be nervous
Seems like there wasn't a rehearsal.
Lionel Messi i would be so nervous and loose the competition in the first place, if i had his talent 😅
nope I never seen any Indian kid talk confidently ,it is rare, may be it is bcz Indian parents always teach their kids lick there elders feet everytime
Walter White what?
that Xbox is taking a trip to destination trash
temsu jr nope
Ethi Rajarajan yup
why are y'all being so judgemental? not all Indian parents are the same.
Indians always win the spelling bee lmao
Because theyre smarter lmao
but their grammar still sucks tho
japanese got it all from China
11001 11001 China got it from god
and god from kermit the frog
Jimmy has been showing off his old pics whenever he met a spelling bee champions 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
7:01
Never thought he would take his hands out of his pocket
Joan Gutierrez 3:47 takes his hands out to sit and puts em right back in
Aaresh Lungani straight as a ruler
Why you gotta bash this kid in whatever he does?
We all men been there b4
Dany Phantom to do what?
I got rendezvous too !! 😊
Star girl hey Mendes army 💕
Me too
I got gnome or “geenowmay”
If you gave me a million guesses I would not have gotten that.
Directioner
That kid's face when he couldn't spell hierarchy 😂
Even knowing he didn't pronounced it right
7:00 he shook hands...then again slid his hands inside the pocket......took the trophy.....again immediately hands in pocket
So what?
soooooooooo?
I think the last word is chaos. sorry for my English.
We Like To Eat wtf u asking sorry for😂😂
Albanian?
Yes. The "CH" combination in Spanish is like the CH in "CHannel" or "CHoke". But "CHaos" is one of the exceptions.
If you see the term "Sorry for my English" it means the person who says that is not speaking English fluently. In case I say something stupid. people will not jugde me
And again Sorry for my English :)))
It's so weird... everyone who says sorry for my bad english has perfect grammar, and people who don't have many mistakes
His thoughts: "I already have a Playstation at home"
supriyasum10 exactly, it’s 2018 atleast give him an Xbox one s. I mean which 14 doesn’t have a console at home
Well I have an PS4 so if I get an Xbox I honestly wouldn’t care I would give it too my friend who doesn’t have a console
Pracks, it seems he is just nervous...
Doesn't matter, he would never use it even if it's latest or costliest. I know bcoz I'm Indian too, lol!!
@@hevillepeacefoot8647 Indians don't like gaming consoles (Specially Parents)
I thought it was Purpose
Femi Owolabi hahaha same
High five me too😂
When you see the title thinking that you will see a very intense competition and.....
You end up laughing😂😅
