I really enjoy your videos and have the same RTT/awning/roof rack set up. What tent to rack clamps are you using? I am trying to avoid the same fastening issue you have when I mount this spring. Thanks.
Thanks Kevin. I have the simple hand tightening clamps the Freespirit provided. It’s basically just a nut, washer, and lock washer combination holding a U shaped clamp to the cross rails. Not sure if I just need to switch to nylon nuts and make it as tight as possible. I’m going to try and maybe attach the awning straight to the rack rather than the tent.
Thank you for the reply. I did go down the rabbit hole of trying to mount the awning directly to the rack but there were no readily available solutions out there. The trail rack awning mounts will work but only without a tent. At least that was the case a few months ago. I actually sold my Aspen Light tent and bought the Odyssey tent just so I could have a tent and awning - awning mounted to tent. I might look at putting 6 clamps that TrailRax sells to make sure the tent stays secure.
