If you want great sound from just one bar, I dont see how you beat the Sennisheisr Ambeo. You can’t judge the bar unless you have a solid room otherwise it’s just a bar that sounds good, and this is what people do not understand. They see nothing more than just an expensive barebones soundbar. The ambeo is specifically designed for certain setups - so really, the bar does exactly what it is supposed to do, but it doesn’t fit everyones place correctly.

JBL 9.1 is amazing and the king in it's price range.

@@Fr4mex thx for info. Yeah, have been watching many many reviews of various soundbars. JBL 9.1 seems to be the best, even tho it lacks some things. I would love a custom EQ for separate channels, or even overall custom EQ, but JBL doesn't have it. And the worst, right now I can't go to any store to check it myself as here where I live they only allow people to get in to pickup orders and go out. IDK... I really don't feel too much like putting all that money in something I can't experience before I buy. Guess I will just wait until things are open again. But anyways, thank you.
Love your reviews & Humour 🔥 . Do you have any plans of reviewing whole Harman Kardon Citation series (soundbar + sub + rear surround speakers + towers) in the future ?
Thanks for that review. Wanted to go for the Samsung HW-Q950T, but was no big fan after several reviews of it. Then started to look for alternatives and found the Ambeo but no honest review (at least other reviews were to enthusiastic to be objective and therefor honest). Will definitely pass the Ambeo though, given you input. Will wait for the new Samsung HW-Q950A and hopefully your review of that. :)
How do you compare this with the Bowers and Wilkins formation bar I personally liked the music better with the formation. But this is more versatile and better with movies. I haven’t heard the Nakamichi yet and I’m curious about that vs the formation and the Ambeo
Haven’t heard the B&W yet - somewhat new to this. Nakamichi in terms of fidelity is crap relative to the Ambeo. Nakamichi does create exceptionally convincing Atmos effects for a Sb system, however. It’s stimulating but not nutritious.
@@neverenoughtech thank you for answering so fast. I’m really into the hifi sound so even though the Atmos features are great, the actual quality of the sound would drive me nuts. I reeeeaaaaalllly wish you had a review about the B&W. I’m conflicted. I do love how specific you get with the specs etc. I would have loved an in depth review on all the specs of the B&W. Bummer Thank you though
The only argument for the plus (as the bar alone costs about as much as the whole C system [if you can find a good deal] - is that some slick rears will be making an appearance. If you are not planning on expanding the plus then I would go for the C as the rears make such a huge difference in a complete cinematic experience. So if you’re really interested in the plus may be worth holding out a little longer
@@neverenoughtech thank you, very helpful. Would you recommend the Plus if one's not gonna upgrade it with rear speakers? Or would you suggest something else?
@@neverenoughtechhey has there been any word on potential rears being released this year? Loved the review here, I’m torn between the Plus and the Max. Just concerned w the possibility of issues people have experienced with the Max as well as compatibility w Sony TVs.
No, never got my hands on that bar … my viewers seem to have limited interest in high-priced all in one bars with no expansion options - I also have limited interest as they just can’t compete on the immersive or frequency response front with systems with dedicated components
Okay im gonna hate alittle bit on sennheiser, which is hard for me cause I love them as a brand and I think they’ve made a really great product here but to me once you cross the 2 k price point you’re treading pretty deeply in a I can buy a dedicated home theater setup that rivals/blows away any bar from any brand acoustically. granted i get that a bar is the convenient, all in one package “alternative” to a dedicated system however I just think its a miss for sennheiser considering at the same price you can have a sonos arc, 2 SL’s and dual subs and honestly have a really immersive experience that a single bar just can’t do. I haven’t heard it in person and this is just pure speculation, thoughts? By the way great review..keep it up!
You also have to deal one hdmi input, no dts, and stuck in an ecosystem so no mix and match. Sonos arc is a pure streaming device and i feel it was a miss on their end to make such a brash decision within this era of tech. I cant even plug my apple tv into it. Also, not every tv has eArc - many people still have arc and dont upgrade for years.
@@garretts431 I have an lg C9 with Earc, if you just get a tv with earc you don’t really need the hdmi ins, unless your tv doesn’t have enough inputs for everything
Timing seriously perfect! Moving out to the woods in May so have been researching soundbars, this one seems to have everything one can wish for, save the price :') Currently debating between LG, Sonos, Samsung & Yamaha Will let you know if I decide to get it!
If you are moving out to the woods this might be the perfect match. The weight and build quality should allow you to prop it against the door to stop unwanted bear intrusion.
Minor clarification - you referred to Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X MA, etc. as "uncompressed" audio. That category of bitstream audio does have compression but it is considered "lossless" compression (compared to the "lossy" compression of DD, DD+, etc). PCM and multichannel LPCM (5.1 & 7.1) are uncompressed audio streams.
I have a question? Wouldn't the Samsung HW-Q990B 11.1.4ch Soundbar be better than this soundbar that you are showing this video on? I mean the Samsung Soundbar has 22 speakers vs The Sennheiser AMBEO- Soundbar | Max that only has 13 speakers. Now I understand that the Sennheiser AMBEO- Soundbar | Max doesn't come with rear speakers and doesn't come with a subwoofer but still that's not enough to make up the difference between 13 and 22 speakers. even if the Sennheiser did come with a subwoofer and rear channel speakers. So I would have to give the sound to Samsung. But I could be wrong.
Thanks for the review ! How does it really sound for music ? I have been so disappointed by the Samsung q900t, I mostly listen to heavy and death métal or watch live concerts and the sound was so flat, I could not find a proper mode / eq therefore I gave it back. I am Wondering if I should pick a cheapiest bar for movies and a real sound system for music instead of trying to cover both usages with one Device. Would love to have your insights on this. Cheers from France
If you are unhappy sound wise with that SB for music, don’t get a SB for music. If you really want peak music and are less concerned about TV sound, I endorse your plan.
Crap I'm that dude that's already all in... I bought this thing yesterday and today I'm trying to justify the purchase to myself LOL Thank you for at least confirming it might be the best soundbar on the market even if the cost to do so is not matching.
This is probably going to be the system I buy to replace the Sonos ARC that has been completely broken by the forced mobile app upgrade on May 7th. I have had nothing but nightmares with my Sonos ever since and I plan to put an end to it...this week. Steam?? Seriously?
Hi, so I didn't understand. Can I or can I not play games with 4k 120 fps ON PC with this soundbar IF my TV supports eARC and my gpu supports eARC? If yes, how will I make the connections? GPU > TV HDMI(slot1) and TV HDMI (slot 2 eARC) > AMBEO MAX EARC?
@@neverenoughtech Thank you very much for responding to that. I've been using the cinema 600 but was stumped on whether or not. I should try the ambeo! You made. My decision that much easier, thanks!

I'd love to watch a review like yours on the Yamaha 5600 sound bar monster. With and without using the subwoofer if possible. That soundbar always got my attention for the incredible number of speakers and how they're placed
I have this Yamaha 5600 for 7 years legendary soundbar projector , Amebo is no match with Yamaha, Been 7 years with me and still it surprises me with its dynamic soundstage , never faced any issue since i bought it unlike expensive soundbar which are too buggy and often returned. I personally went to check Samsung HW Q950A at retail and honestly ....after listening to Samsung I am damn sure TH-camrs have never experienced what Yamaha sound projector technology in person. Samsung soundbar's audio was felt coming from the soundbar itself, Yamaha steer its sound like it was coming from TV Screen and from moving object of content.
Thank you for your review. I still say my Shockwafe is a better sound investment. (Pun intended) It's $1,000 less, and the subs continue to blow me away.
@@mezzb Nice to hear from an owner with an appropriately sized room. I'd likely not use any sound bar myself because I have an open floor plan and a dedicated HT system. But I'm sick of all the components and cabling. If I had a more appropriately sized and shaped room, I would consider this for all HT duty.
That was a great video. Maybe u can help me. I have the full blown 16 speaker, 4 sub a/v system, all with separate power amplification. (I'm old school). I ove the soundbar for convience. If we're not watching a 4k blu ray, we use the bar. Here's my tiff. I currently use the Focal soundbar. Great sound, but even more importantly, I use my own subs! If I've done my homework correctly, only Sennheiser, and the new Bluesound pulse plus have pre out, for our existing subs!! Any suggestions? Thanks!
I’m going to rebut something you said. You said giving the option, the sennheiser or the klipsch system. You would take the klipsch system. Anyone that’s reading this comment. Go to your nearest Best Buy magnolia store and try the two out. Ask the rep if they have a sub attached to the ambeo. Most likely they do. I bet you my last dollar, no one is picking the klipsch over the sennheiser if money is not an option. Because like you said. If you’re stuck and had to have one, you’re choosing the klipsch. Sound quality is not comparable, and left to right 3d effects is no one near as close.
I don’t even remember breakfast all that well much less my comments from over a year ago but I think there is something like an interesting argument whether klipsch 600 with included separate bass module is better sound than Ambeo without. Bar v bar obviously Sennheiser wins. But it’s also advertised as a do it all so buying a separate bass kind of defeats the purpose of that kind of bar. Klipsch does not advertise spatial sound so no arguments about which is more capable on that front
@@neverenoughtech 😂 I don’t remember what I had for breakfast. But if you’re going to spend $2500 on a sound bar. You don’t think you could also pitch in at least $300 for a decent sub such as the one you have? Then that would make that sub bad better than just about any sound bar combination there is. I mean it. I went with the Samsung qn900a(I think, the 2020 top in model sound bar that you recommended) I just didn’t have the funds at the time. But I will get it now.
Number 5 on the first world problems list - "People who ignore Queuing etiquette" - Dead on sir. I actually can't help but wonder if what's happening is that there are people who don't even know there is queuing etiquette.
Well, in my point of view, I think that the ambeo soundbar is the one of the best stand alone soundbar if you own enough space to set it up in your living room, otherwise, the price is another problem if you think it's affordable to you, it's a good choice for you. I bought it and own over 1 years, It's a really good choice for me. I use Xbox one X for Gaming, Netflix and APPLE TV,and the ambeo soundbar for my theater system, my experience is awesome.
You're criticizing the soundbar when some reviewers say it's so great are you criticizing it because of the price I'm looking for the best all-in-one Soundbar alone money is not a factor is this the best one for music that's what I don't like about reviewers if something's more expensive they criticize it just let me know which one is the best for music I want a loud sound bar that also clear for music
@@bassebajs sounds incredible to me after the LPCM update no complaints, that’s coming from a SoundTouch 300, the Sonos is a much better overall 5.1 system when you buy all parts
Sonos is overpriced though - you get similar performance if not better from Q90r or q950t. You will get better performance from q950a. Each of them cheaper. If you want the best you go Ambeo + sub but you will have to pay 50% more for that extra umpf
Sennheiser Ambeo or even others, compared: to Sonos ARC with a sub? Sonos ARC with a pair of Sonos 5? ARC with mini sub and a pair of 5s? Audio dynamics: highs, mids and lows? does adding a sub and or Sonos 5s allow the Sonos ARC to be noticeably, cleaner and more dynamic since some of the work goes to other speakers? Or is it just the Sonos software and hardware design that stops it from sounding as good as say a quality pair of studio monitors, like say Yamaha HS8? Room size is 13ft x 19ft and 8ft high I do not listen to rap and do not like too much bass. I listen to all rock, Country Western, Bluegrass, new age, bag pipes, pipe organ, punk, piano, a cappella, metal, I hate the stuff they pass off as music mostly since all the auto tune and gridding of noise/music, or since about late 90s. Most pop "music" today is just cheap and easy to make noise. Country today is crap! Thank you!
price is down. You forgot to consider music when you compared this to the competition. I am betting the Max crushes competition with music and a sub is just $300-$500 add on anyways.

What do you think about the Devialet Dion soundbar?
That bar and the Sennheiser max and plus seems to be the best
In all honesty, Ambeo or JBL 9.1?
Who does Atmos better?
Well executed nice video. I was all in until I heard the added sub.
You´re the best! Very thorough review as usual! Now, only the Philips Fidelio B95 is left. I have no idea why it is not available in the US..
And ST5000
Excellent review done only the way you can do Daniel!
Appreciate the encouragement!
Love your reviews & Humour 🔥 . Do you have any plans of reviewing whole Harman Kardon Citation series (soundbar + sub + rear surround speakers + towers) in the future ?
on the radar - can't promise
Please suggest a good subwoofer and surround sound rear speakers to go with this soundbar
Ambeo - My first video on this Channel ever. Liked it very, very much. Can't wait you do Devialet Dione.
Rather get the Ambeo over any Samsung soundbars
@@sj7624 Not at that price point ;)
@@sj7624 no one here has heard the ambeo so they judge it based on a review.
How do you compare this with the Bowers and Wilkins formation bar
I personally liked the music better with the formation.
Amazing review! I'm still thorn between the Ambeo Plus and the Samsung HW-Q990C. What would you suggest is the best one among the two?
Solid review 👌
Did you have an opportunity to compare it to Devialet Dione soundbar? How does Sennhaiser work with listening a music?
Completely agree
You also have to deal one hdmi input, no dts, and stuck in an ecosystem so no mix and match.
Sonos arc is a pure streaming device and i feel it was a miss on their end to make such a brash decision within this era of tech. I cant even plug my apple tv into it. Also, not every tv has eArc - many people still have arc and dont upgrade for years.
@@garretts431 I have an lg C9 with Earc, if you just get a tv with earc you don’t really need the hdmi ins, unless your tv doesn’t have enough inputs for everything
@@ruialex314 no one upgrades their tv often unless theyre rich. I have an lg c8 - why would i upgrade again? That’s absurd..
@@garretts431 yeah well not on your case at least, it’s not a system for everybody I have a c9 like I said and I won’t upgrade for many years either
Timing seriously perfect! Moving out to the woods in May so have been researching soundbars, this one seems to have everything one can wish for, save the price :')
Currently debating between LG, Sonos, Samsung & Yamaha
Will let you know if I decide to get it!
Let me know ... and I agree the price is not a highlight. Lots of other stuff to like I thought
If you are moving out to the woods this might be the perfect match. The weight and build quality should allow you to prop it against the door to stop unwanted bear intrusion.
Truth
i am thinking off getting the SVS SB3000 or the PB3000 to connect to my Sennheiser Ambeo sound bar....what are your thoughts thx from Canada
Appreciate the call out. I did mean lossless. But yup, you’re right that’s not the same as uncompressed.
@@neverenoughtech Nothing so strong as a "call out" :)
Why don't they make surrounds?
They will when they release the next max - I predict
Thanks for a detailed and entertaining review.
Did recommend the ambeo or the sony HT a7000?? Or the klips cinema 1200,?? I’m confused!!! Just give a hand !!!!
I’d go 1200 … they seemed to have dealt with the bugs … best value and arguably best full home theater sound of the three
@@neverenoughtech thanks for the fast answer !! Already buying it !! 🔥🔥
Hey how have you liked the Ambeo so far now? I’m tempted to pull the trigger but wondering about any potential reliability issues.
Great Review Sir
This is probably going to be the system I buy to replace the Sonos ARC that has been completely broken by the forced mobile app upgrade on May 7th. I have had nothing but nightmares with my Sonos ever since and I plan to put an end to it...this week. Steam?? Seriously?
can i connect sennheiser ambeo max to a pc with a optical output sound card?
I can't confirm but I strongly suspect yes. I think it takes any optical input
Bose 700 or this senissher sound quality wise?
Sennheiser over bose
Your tech specs explanations are very good though.
If you’re plugging into the tv the video render has nothing to do with soundbar specs … it’s all up to your tv

Klipsch cinema 1200 or ambeo max?
Klipsch as long as you have all the firmware updates
@@neverenoughtech Thank you very much for responding to that. I've been using the cinema 600 but was stumped on whether or not. I should try the ambeo! You made. My decision that much easier, thanks!
Great review!
Can you say the best soundbar?
Best SB system sound?

With sub out port is all I can confirm ... you can plug in a wireless transmitter

Sound/dollar Ambeo may be the worst bar out there ... I like shockwafe for the Atmos
You’re the best! Thanks for your honest reviews! Keep up the great work!

Hi ! You've got a new subscriber ! I like your video test and the battle you make between 2 products with point match ! so really good ! Thanks !
Thanks!
Klipsch cinema 1200 has a sub out - from which you can add a second or replace the existing
I actually can't help but wonder if what's happening is that there are people who don't even know there is queuing etiquette.
these would sell very well if they included a subwoofer for the same price..
It's on sale for $1999 in January 20 2023 before Superbowl!!!

Wish I lived in your world where price does not factor into a decision. You’ve transcended markets and capitalism.
For the price I would much rather get the full 5.1 Sonos arc system :p so I did...
Correction: for quite a bit less...
How do you like it?
@@bassebajs sounds incredible to me after the LPCM update no complaints, that’s coming from a SoundTouch 300, the Sonos is a much better overall 5.1 system when you buy all parts

Sonos sounds like a tin box
Sonos is overpriced though - you get similar performance if not better from Q90r or q950t. You will get better performance from q950a. Each of them cheaper. If you want the best you go Ambeo + sub but you will have to pay 50% more for that extra umpf
Finally nice review. It's just good soundbar but nothing special.
Would an ambeo with a sub absolutely obliterate the cinema 600? Not that I could afford it anyways.
Best. not obliterate
Wish JBL would have an app with custom EQ option. Do you hear me JBL!?
I picked this up £1300 WOW ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you!

Klipsch sounded better on the sound check. I don't regret my Sonos Arc with Subwoofer purchase.
The sub really helps ... but yeah, I agree
price is down. You forgot to consider music when you compared this to the competition. I am betting the Max crushes competition with music and a sub is just $300-$500 add on anyways.
I hope they are clearing it out for Max V2 and some Ambeo surrounds
