I had that clutch chirping sound on my 2000 xc500sp. Couldn’t get the belt deflection right. This happened after I serviced the secondary clutch. I ended up pulling it apart again and come to find out one of the buttons had fallen out during reassembly. Put another one in and it was fine. No more chirp or adjustment problems
I`ve always loved the Polaris Triples and owned a pile of them. Loved that era of Skidoo. I owned a mint 1994 Skidoo Mach 1 670. It looked fast just sitting there, but it was HEAVY. If you got it stuck or had to get it onto a trailer...you needed one maybe two other people. Your 800 runs good, but like you mentioned previously, the old owner had it clutched for ice fishin.
How Ski-doo never had a Class Action lawsuit filed against them for those Isoflex crank bearings is beyond me. Those Formula III 700's were some of the first to use those isoflex crank bearings with failure incoming around 2000 miles. Or, just past when the 1-year warranty expired. A few years later, Ski-doo ran an ad for the replacement engine design touting a new pressurized oiling system like it was a new invention or something.
I had a 2008 800 with isoflex I had a 2010 800 with isoflex I had a 2013 800 with isoflex I now have a 2016 800 with isoflex. The first three sleds went well over 7,000 before I sold them and the 2016 motor lasted till 13,500 mi and with the 4-year warranty they put a new motor in it. Was not a crank failure. Maintenance is key.
I did get the 2005 Mach z 1000 it needs a new starter and the gas tank needs to be welded hopefully that's all I hope thanks for the awesome video Nutter I'm always looking for videos on Sunday's
Walnuts, a piston port 500cc non ves, smoked a rave valve 583cc twin piped doo 😂 and bad too But the race with the xcr should have started with hot pipes, way different sled when those pipes are hot. Ovviously needs clutch work and possibly ves cleaning/adjusting...But i will say i was actually impressed with how fast that tank of a doo was 😂 and that pipe is super weird too...thanks for the video guys and nice room at the end there...way cool
Hi Nutter ! Another cool video here 😎. Do you still have the 96 Ultra SP with the SLP triple pipes...? I think the Ultra/800 xcr matchup will be exciting if they are in healthy condition. More power for the xcr but more weight too 😉.
Have always been curios why most people ride counter clockwise around a farm field. I caught myself, my friends, and my kids doing this! All nice sleds but I would have to prefer Walnuts.....electric start is great but reverse would help an old guy like me! Always a Polaris tripple fan though.
I don't think the power valves were opening, didn't sound like 8300 more like 7500 ,that thing will scare the shit out of you when you get it straightened out. Great video as usual Nutter.
It's over revving so bad . No way you should be much over 8500 until full upshift is done . The belt squeal at low speeds is also telling of horrible clutch condition and or a very very worn belt
I have seen a stock 2003 triple triple 800 XCR hit 112 mph on a short track!!!...far beyond a Doo 700 triple! You better check under the hood of your Polaris 800..something is wrong. Sorry, but embarrassed me to watch a 700 Doo fly by an 800 XCR!!!
I never took a sled out until I had gone through everything. That includes a brand new sled. People knew when I showed up my sled would run up to its potential. To me a base line is how a sled runs from the factory. I saw to many sleds that the factory set up was way off. I realize the factory set up is limited that’s why I always go over them first thing. Same thing for a used sled which you were riding. I always like to get the most out of a sled with what it came with by fine tuning it. Many riders buy a new or used sled and immediately by add ons which in many cases don’t help at all. I irritated many riders with up grades by showing them my taillights. Your 800 is a great sled and I know you will go over it and make it right. I used to have fun like you and your friends and I miss that very much but watching your videos keeps me active in sledding. I sure would like to have a beer with you and friends but I salute you all !!!!
@@nuttersspeedshop i was going to ask if you ever changed the springs/weights back to stock. i remember from the intro video they were changed for ice fishing. definitely doesn't seem to be doing its best against the FIII

Nutter I have a question ? Wut is with the blinking head lights I don't understand what the attraction is ?
Walnuts is a overachiever she runs strong
That FIII 700 seems pretty quick!
Thank you for another great Sunday morning video. I can't believe the acceleration of that old heavy Ski Doo. Impressive...

Found belt deflection was way too tight.
Nice man cave. Love the Hamms stuff.
Well, I was wrong on both races lol. Clutching, clutching, clutching!!
I think the real winner is Greg’s bar! Haha 👍👍👍👍
Cheers guys 🍻🍻🍻🍻
Clutching is everything and the ice fishing setup was not fast LOL.
Walnuts goes great she is quick
I have a purple formula z 583 there pretty fast
That's a nice playground that Greg has across the street.
The formula III is rippin

You got more snow than I do

Agreed 100% ive been saying this for years

Walnuts makes me want one just like it. But i want an Indy cross country too. And about two dozen other sleds.
Lol. You have the sickness.
All of the ski doos ive had were cold blooded too. But once they lit up, we were good all day
It was good to run into you guys at Eagle River!
It was great to see you Rodney!

Great work 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Last time I ran with Greg, he was on a '74 twin Elan vs my '73 Oly 340, it was pretty even and lots of fun.
670 pipes on a 583 aren't doing any favors
Sounds neat though
Josh, Couldn't agree more, the motor will never rpm with those pipes. I own a 94 FZ and wouldn't waste my gas racing a 500 classic.
NOT a SkiDoo fan..love 800 XCR.
Love me some skidoo’s
Electric start 500 classic for the win!

Thanks and you are 100% correct about the hot pipes.
That FZ was not running well ..a good well tuned FZ OR STX 583 will smoke the 500 indy

Still have the ultra it would be the current project except for the xcr.

I guess we go that way because race tracks run that direction.
Snowed another 1 inch last night , we got a solid 2 inches on the ground now ! That’s what she said ?

Thanks George.
Good Morning................I am 1st !!!!!
I say a rematch with the xcr and the formula lll once you go thru it!
100% you get it!
👋👍🏻🔧✌🏻
Good Lord that clutching on the xcr is way off
don't sound right either
It's over revving so bad . No way you should be much over 8500 until full upshift is done . The belt squeal at low speeds is also telling of horrible clutch condition and or a very very worn belt
There's no way a F3 skidoo would ever pass my 96 800 storm 🤣 stock
Wait for me to do some work on it.
@nuttersspeedshop I'm sure you will get it rippin
First
Something chirping in the 800 did not perform as I have seen them. No way a Ski Doo 700 can beat it??? 700? Come on, Nutter.
Give me a break. I just bought it and didn't work on it yet. This was just a baseline and I explained that.
Also found belt deflection was way tight. All will be fixed.
@nuttersspeedshop no excuses!! 😂😂
😄
Your buddy should give that 583 a tune up. It should be fast then that. And start a lot easier lol

@@nuttersspeedshop Okay...I just hate seeing any Doo running past a Polaris,...Sorry Nutter. I'll be more sensitive.
@@nuttersspeedshop Okay...I will await your next run post fixing and sure you will have it purring. Sorry for riling everybody up.
Obviously something is not right on the XCR. It’s common sense people.

You need to get thing 3s clutching better You guys need a play day with Tod and Trent 👍👍👍😁

Yes, playday with todd planned.
