Crispy Honey Chilli King Prawn

    ABOUT ALEX
    Alex was Born and bred in Glasgow..He's been working now in various Chinese takeaways as a delivery driver for the past few years or so..Most of what he's learnt is just by watching the chefs..
    In all my videos i use a high power burner so cooking temperature's may vary cooking on a normal hob..Not all takeaways will ignite the food the way i do and just cook in the normal fashion..This is just my preference..The most important part is using the correct condiments and you will produce some amazing results..My subscribers are testament to that which i'm pleased about..
    Ingredients
    10 King prawns
    Crack one egg in a bowl and add the prawns
    Add a pinch of salt and fully coat
    Next in a sperate bowl add 1 cup of potato starch or cornflour..Add the egg coated prawns to the flour and coat
    Shallow fry in vegetable on a high heat until cooked.
    Sauce
    1/3 cup of ketchup
    1 tbls sugar
    2 tbls of honey
    1/4 cup Thai sweet chilli sauce
    Half cup of water
    1 tsp cornflour
    Mix everything together and set aside
    Veg for frying
    Some mixed bell peppers
    1/2 onion
    1 red chilli diced
    Method
    Stir fry your veg in vegtable oil for a few minutes and then add your sauce followed by your prawns..Done

    Strictly speaking, I think the caption "shallow fry" could be changed to "deep fry" but the recipe is ready to follow and works a treat. Thanks!

      You can swap the sugar with candarel sweetner and use cauliflower rice as sub for rice and use no sugar tom sauce, yeah no the exact same but doesnt affect the taste that much

      Breadcrumbs would have to be used if your using an air fryer..Cornflour needs oil from them to crisp up..Dipped in the egg wash and then the breadcrumbs..Cheers Kevin..

      Thanks Davy.Duck dishes are far too complicated to prepare..The prep for the duck is way of the scale as far as ingredients are required..I could just cook the duck in the normal fashion like chicken but that would be wrong..I get loads of requests for duck but no one would make it or be able to make it..I've never made it for the above reason..I've never even tried it before but would like too..I prefer to stick to simple and easy to follow dishes for my channel...Cheers Davy..

      I definitely would if i knew how but i'm just the delivery driver in the shop Henry..Takeaways would just buy it already made.I haven't seen them at any time using it for dishes but now i'll keep an eye out for it..Thanks again Henry take care..

      You can use bamboo shoots if you want bob but won't make it better but for yourself only..Costumers would have a heart attack if we served it with bamboo shoots..We all live in different areas bob unfortunately..

      Thanks Amanda sometimes it's hard to come with something new when you've already covered just about everything on a Chinese menu..My head goes round in circles trying to come up with new stuff so always open to suggestion's. I don't get many requests for new dishes now because all the requested ones have been done..Thanks Amanda..

      @@ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex I can't imagine coming up with so many recipes!! You have come up with so many amazing dishes!! I need to check out your channel better....I love oil mushrooms and stuffed mushrooms....there are many different egg dishes they serve here in South Dakota at buffets....like a fusion of Asian cooking with American cooking. Dumplings fried and boiled are something that have diverse recipes...I am too chicken to try them as I have never tried it before so not sure what to expect. I think that is why I have enjoyed your videos so much you show step by step and make it look "do-able". Hope that you are staying safe and healthy through this pandemic.       To be honest Amanda it's not something they would sell in the UK..I've never heard of meatballs being used in takeaways..This sounds like a chefs special dish..I would need to try some before i could even make it..It does sound interesting i have to say..I might google it to see if anything comes up..Thanks Amanda x

    Im so glad youve done this alex, king prawn is excellent. As a seafood lover this one will be getting made 🙌🏻 does the place you get your ingredients from do mussels? I really want to create a mussel dish 👍🏻

      Thanks Gav.Takeaways tend to sell New Zealand mussel, the green lipped ones.You can buy them frozen..My local Asian store has them..I've never bought them before because of the expense but are of good quality..Cheers Gav
