    I wondered what you was doing at the start with that pole. haha Nothing beats a live swarm arriving or bees marching that have been rescued. Not even harvesting honey. They kind of know when you are rescuing them. Great video! If you upload that bit that was speeded up it would make a nice relaxing video. Its theraputic watching a march. I have seen hundreds over the years in real life and still never get bored.

      I agree completely... bees are therapeutic! Whether you are watching a march or standing in the middle of a swarm or even just a hive inspection... They are dangerous and yet peaceful. Working with honeybees has been the most calming thing I have ever done!! Thanks for your comment and Thanks for watching!!

    Nicely done. This is the best POV of a swarm capture that I've seen.

    I saw one bee keeperr have a hugh swarm have 9 or so queens. He caught several in Q catchers and hung them from nearby trees and each one drew a ball of bees large enough for a small nuc. He ended up with 1 large box and a half dozen nucs at the end. No wasted queens

      Wow! 9 queens in 1 swarm... and I thought 4 was a lot 😀. Great way to use those queens!

    MAN, EVERYTIME I THINK YOU'RE DONE, ANOTHER BAG OF BEES, WITH ALL THOSE BEES FIT IN THAT BOX

    • @durbees3859
      @durbees3859  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the 2 original boxes used in the video then 2 weeks after the capture I had to add a third box.

    I'm not a bee keeper but I love to watch the videos. So, is each bee able to tell which box it's hive is in?

    • @durbees3859
      @durbees3859  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the bees know which hive is theirs by location and scent. They use location once it's established but they mainly go by scent when they swarm or if something happens to the hive. It's like a club card, LOL

    Is that box big enough for all those bees? Or will you be adding more frames on top?…

    • @durbees3859
      @durbees3859  ปีที่แล้ว

      2 weeks after the capture those bees had completely filled up the 2 boxes with Eggs, Larvae, Nector, and Honey so I added a third box.

    Have you ever been stun in the sensitive parts while doing this in shorts

    • @durbees3859
      @durbees3859  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have been stung on the inner thigh... Definitely a bad place to get stung but that is the closest to the sensitive parts that I have gotten. That happened when I was changing a bottom board. I move a little slower now when I change out the bottom boards. 😂😂

    I turned away then looked back at the screen and was like "WOW" there's more? I kept saying all of them were not going to be able to fit in there.

    • @durbees3859
      @durbees3859  ปีที่แล้ว

      Huge for sure!! 2 weeks after the capture I ended up adding a third box because they filled up those original 2 boxes with Eggs, Larvae, Nector, and Honey

    With multiple queens I would split them over as many boxes as the number of caught queens.

    • @durbees3859
      @durbees3859  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good thought I will do that sometimes... but I usually go with whatever is going on in the bee yard... If I have a couple big hives that need split or perhaps a few queenless hives I may use them there as well. Thanks for watching!!

    It reminds me of a hive that desperately needs splitting by 3. Video is great, audio not so good

      I will have to work on the audio then! Thanks for watching!
