Dude! You are inspirational! I love K-pop and Asian music and it's been my dream to play with acts like Big Bang. It's rare when you see them with live bands, so this is a joy to see. God bless you-keep doing what you are doing and I hope to do the same!
Truth the kits they sell typically are more standard configurations. But I know you can order them directly from Tama in a variety of sizes. His particular setup is called the hyperdrive sizes I believe. 8x6, 10x6.5 and 12x7 (although i think he does 12x6.5), 16x14 and 18x16 with what looks like a 22x18 kick modified to be a floor tom. And he uses a 24x18 as the main kick drum. It makes for some very unique sounds but they do sound great in an arena in person.
Okay I am old school, and I know things changes in the music industry, and all that's good too but I really don't like playing the bass drum with the new foot beater ,just not enough for me to work with, it just don't give me that REAL DEEP FOOT KICKING SOUND! you have to hump up the amplified to get that " I can feel it down in my soul " I like that old school round one. That big boom boom, not that paplatplatalapa, it sounds as if there's a hole in the base drum, there's something missing from the bass drum? Besides what do I know? I am just old school, things changes.
If you are thinking of the drum-by-drum style line-check that most of us associate with the drum sound-check, be sure that they have done that before the video. Though it probably didn’t take as long as one would think. A production like the one in the video, is probably touring with their own digital mixing system. So every day they start out their sound-checks loading the mixer-settings from the previous gig or from a production rehearsal. The everyday line-check is than typically performed by the drum-tech not the drummer. And the drum-tech and audio engineer together make sure that both the drums tuning and the microphone-channel is set/does sound as they did on the previous gig. And although the audio engineer (Actually there will probably be at least two. One in the crowd-area, also called front-of-house, and one on stage doing the monitor-sound for the musicians.) are working on the drum-sound, the sound-check we are witnessing in this video is probably mainly a bit of warmup and practicing time for the drummer, who probably has been on tour for quite a while and doesn’t really have any other possibilities to practice. In the first few seconds of the video the drummer does a short check of his toms one by one. My guess is that he is checking if the monitor engineer has placed them right in the stereo-field of his in-ear-monitors.
@@dorislydtysker8805 : it's good to hear you explain it, because you know how it is with most drummers, some of coolest people on the planet along with our other half D' Bass players...I was just about to get my sticks out and do flames in the comment section...Peace.
My question is does every gospel chop drummer have the same guy tune their drums? "I want my Tom's to sound dead and flat and crank my snare up as tight as the bottom of a coffee can" "Then crank my side snare even higher". Just like in the 80's when hair metal drumming got played out... Or in the 90's when piccolo snare drums got played out...you all gotta come up with a new game because it's old/worn out fellas...
Dan Killen that doesn’t explain it... the slap back from the snare sounds like it’s in a stadium and natural time of echo/decay... the kick slap back is way quicker than the snare. Physics wouldn’t allow that.
That particular series is discontinued now unfortunately. He used Starclassic B/B and now uses the Starclassic Walnut/Birch. I don't know how much custom orders run (which you'd need to do in order to truly replicate the kit), but a rough estimate just to have the same basic 7 pc kick, snare, 3 up, 2 down setup with what's available on the normal market would run around $3200.
Probably haha But he is playing for pop artists so the sound would need to be more articulate and dry anyway. I can tell you tho from hearing him play live, the drums do sound pretty damn good.
I can definitely vouch for the sound in person. The drums do sound pretty damn good in the actual show. Could just be the camera used that's making it sound weird though.
Somebody must be removing all of the critical comments on this vid, because that was about the most amateur and sloppy sounding thing I've have heard. I've heard dudes in Guitar Center shred FAR better than this guy.
@@tzimme7639 Yeah I know, but more like a sound nightmare. And well, #1, he's being filmed and he knows it, so at least keep some decent time, keep your fills in time and try not to sound like a first year drummer struggling to find a beat. #2, count how many times he hits his sticks together and his accidental rim hit "misses". #3, He can barely keep decent time along with the keyboard player. All I'm saying is that for all of the praise within the comments, such as "dude kills it", "amazing groove" and so forth, this sloppy delivery is a little embarrassing for a professional being filmed, even during a sound check.
@@retiredlivingthedream its a sound check and why he needs to shred if its a sound check, also his not jamming with the keys. you are judging the person when you just saw him play once? Go watch his other drum vids
@@jeckremigio2698 Did you read my reply above to T Zimme? No? Then read it. Yes? And you still felt the need to comment again about it being a sound check? Also, didn't anyone ever tell you that you should never assume? As in assuming that I don't know who Bennie is and that I have only seen, or heard, him play this one time. I've been following Bennie since his days with Mariah Carey. Great drummer, but it doesn't change the facts that I stated above in my previous comments. That's no trigger. That's what a nice kick drum sounds like in good monitor speakers.
It's gotta be fun jamming in a space that big.
Amazing sound 👍
TAMA THE BEST NAME IN DRUMS!!!!
high sound snare with both 🤘🤘

Earned a sub.+ like! Love it!

great sounding kit
These are very specialized Tama drums, they are not likely to made like the ones you'll find in the store unless that's how they sound.

Padrisimo !!
Bright cymbals , great toms, not fan of the kick trigger ? Or the snare but your playing and kit are awesome
Any relation with Nile Rodgers? Amazing sound and groove.
Can the audio engineer cope with this playing to adjust levels?

This is not a drums set... It's a drums system
slutchy omg so gooooood
The sound of his drums match the music he's accompanying, soulless and dry.
Am i hearing a reverb on the kick? sounds awful. I mean the kick sounds good, i can hear the kick but im also hearing something else.
you are hearing slap back from being in a massive stadium, comes with the territory, thank god for in ear monitors.
So we meet again 😂

Young Thug on drums
Para el batacon que esta ejecutando, están muy simples sus matisez !!!! Hay mejor metrica en los toms !!!!
