In the early 90s when MTV Europe held its own "shadow" Eurovision contest, this video/song represented us (Finland). When this song fared rather well and got full points from many countries, it was fun to watch the UK presenters "panic", as UK was of course supposed to be the number one in pop/rock and other countries coming somewhere behind. Also Sweden's song was threatened by the Finnish song's success, and so the Swedish jury announced at the counting of points: "And so sorry, but Finland, no points", the voice of the judge being anything else but sorry. All of us watching this in the student dormitory burst out laughing at that.
You can´t really fit this song (or the band) into specific time, the sound is timeless. One of the most important bands in finnish music culture, in my opinion. They´re amazing.
Aivan upea.
:-) P.s. Annelilta terveisiä Seppälän moppimiehelle :D
I met them in 1990 in a concert in Geneva and since i’m infecté by the virus, that atmosphère slightly poppy/dreming got me so deeply that today i’m still here pain hommages to those crazy maracas boys. First time I saw this weird video and the haunting melody, I found out that this band will be one of those forgotten greats. Well, thats how it goes...

Hultsfred, 1990. Had been dragged there by my brother and sister (probably because my parents made them), and most of the time I just shlepped around without focus, taking in bands through osmosis. Except these guys. I already knew about them, my sister had some of their stuff. Anyway, they were awesome. And later, when M A Numminen had his concert, he invited them on stage to be his backup band through a couple songs.
A friend made me a 4 CD comp few years ago with no tracklisting. Was in the car & this song came on - 2nd to last track, 4th CD. Haven't stopped playing it on repeat since. Thrilled I now found who the artist is.

It's great but not the best.

These guys where super hipster way before the whole modern version of Hipster was even invented. Music video from year 1992.
Even the style was very hipstery. No other Finnish band made music like this.
I mean, hipsters in the most generic "cool guys" sense, appeared around 1940s.
And in the end they come from the remotest part of Finland possible for any pop culture whatsoever. Makes you think
In village Ii in early 2000, we were hipsters before knowing the the tern.

And some bands become well selling legends.

2. Ramones/22 Pistepirkko

Still remember where I was and what I was doing when heard this masterpiece for the first time. Classic pop song with maybe the catchiest chorus ever.

Great stuff. I saw (experienced! one of the loudest indoors gigs I've attended) them touring this album in '92.
Would it be possible that you lost some hearing at the gig? It might bias your later judgements. :)
This is the pearl which lasts time and is like an evergreen. Love it!
