It doesn’t matter which direction the elevator is going. You hold your finger on the button and the doors will close, the system gets confused, wipes all other commands (someone waiting on a floor below) and will then go to the floor the button that is pressed. If you keep your finger on the button it will also bypass everyone waiting on other floors going in the same direction. The staff do this so their carts can fill the elevator without harming a guest. They can also get more done instead of having to wait in guests getting on or off. This guy knows this too and as you see as the doors close, his finger is still on the button. Most celebrities knows this too cause their security will do this for them as well.

This is actually something heels would frequently do back in the 80s and before hand in order to protect kayfabe at all times. MJF is an old school heel, so this fits him perfectly (specially when someone's recording him like here).

Big John Stud, iron shiek and Nicoli Volkoff interacted with the fans an nicely as the junkyard dog, George the animal Steel and Marty Janetti. Bobby Heenan, and Freddie Blassie interacted but still wore the heel manager act. Adrian Adonis was the guy that scowled and walked by everyone, still in character.

One of the few wrestlers who respects the business still. He stays in character in public and in interviews. Even though you know it’s a work, it really sucks you in and helps suspend disbelief that much more. Shows you don't know how elevators and fire alarms operate. It would go into lockout mode, discharge occupants on the first floor, and sit there til the firemen arrive with a firekey. If smoke alarm in first floor elevator lobby is active, it'll discharge on 2nd floor... You get the idea. No world it stops and traps someone, like not even if the car itself is on fire.

Reminds me of a story Chris Jericho told in one of his books. He was on an elevator with a fan and his child. The child had said something to Jericho and asked for an autograph. Jericho ignored them the entire time and never even looked their way.
he also had all his merch removed from the website, got into a couple of minor scuffles (with a fan at least once, and with other wrestlers, though i think those were a work)... jericho is the best!

This is actually something heels would frequently do back in the 80s and before hand in order to protect kayfabe at all times. MJF is an old school heel, so this fits him perfectly (specially when someone's recording him like here).
I don’t know about all that… I went to a WWF event at the cow palace in San Francisco in the 80s. Big John Stud, iron shiek and Nicoli Volkoff interacted with the fans an nicely as the junkyard dog, George the animal Steel and Marty Janetti. Bobby Heenan, and Freddie Blassie interacted but still wore the heel manager act. Adrian Adonis was the guy that scowled and walked by everyone, still in character.

Even though you know it’s a work, it really sucks you in and helps suspend disbelief that much more. Shows you don't know how elevators and fire alarms operate. It would go into lockout mode, discharge occupants on the first floor, and sit there til the firemen arrive with a firekey. If smoke alarm in first floor elevator lobby is active, it'll discharge on 2nd floor... You get the idea. No world it stops and traps someone, like not even if the car itself is on fire.
