I think Ritchie Blackmore is misunderstood. I think he is hilarious with his dry British humour, and I describe him as a very introvert man with a lot of integrity, he goes his own way and doesn't care what other people thinks, a very honest man

He told an interviewer who asked why the Smoke on the water riff is so memorable, that this was because ..... “It’s the opening 4 notes of Beethoven’s 5th .... but played backwards” 😀 It’s not of course. However if you listen to one of Metallica’s most famous songs/riffs, it appears to be Smoke on the water but with some of the notes omitted. Ritchie is very open about who he’s nicked from musically.
