Welcome to my first scrapping video. The video shows you how to take apart a Ps3 CECHA01 and shows you where to find the precious metals like gold silver palladium and others. Hopefully, you scrappers will find this useful. I also want to thank 2 scrappers I'm currently following on youtube. Mike the scrapper & Moose Scrapper. Before them, I was throwing out hundreds of dollars in the garbage from steel, motherboards and all sorts of other material.

Scraping ps is good or bad
It really depends in what shape the PS3 is in. I've seen some really bad one with lots of water damaged etc.... I usually scrap those. The motherboard alone is worth about $1.00 at certain scrap yards. They also have quite a bit of gold if you want to take out the components. They have many IC chips, gold pins from USB, HDMI, Ethernet and connector ports. Then you have fans for the copper, they have wires. Scrap the blu-ray player also. The laser in them have some nice gold also in the diodes.
If good which softwre or hardware is best quality for it.
That depends on what you want to do with the PS3. I know popular software / firmware is 3.15 and 3.55

When you looking at the PS3, it's on the left side. You have to remove the warranty seal and a small rubber plug
What model number is your drill so I can pick one up at a hardware store?
It's an old 12v Black and Decker. Plenty of similar 18v at walmart or online for $40 to $60
So what has Palladium ?
It's the monolithic capacitors. I have another videos on those. Those small guys are worth about $4 to $8 an ounce. I usually get about $4 but others have gotten more for them.

how much scrap $$ would you get per console?
It depends on how you scrap it. If you do it nice and simple and just separate everything without pulling gold, IC chip and other stuff out, you could probably get about $5-$7 in scrap but you should only do this if all major components on the PS3 are none working. If the Blu-Ray, Power Supply and motherboard are fried, then scrap it completely. If some of these parts are still working then sell the working parts and scrap the rest.
cheers lad I have like 9 scrap ps3's and 4 xboxs but disc drives still work etc so I might give it a go
For the disk drive on the PS3 if you sell it locally you should be able to get $40 for it. If you sell it on eBay you'll get about $25 to $30 after fees and shipping
Well scrap yards pay for totally scrap ps3s. Just take them a part, separate the material and bring the to the yard once you have enough material.
If you're talking about selling working parts, you could find people for them. You don't know what you're getting when you buy a broken ps3 off of eBay but you know exactly what you're getting when you're buying a working part.
I understand that you scrap it for the gold and stuff , and its a good vid but why dont you sell the parts ?? it will give you more $
You could make money off the parts for sure but this one was the worst of the worst. Everything was bad about it but I did remove some parts after the video but I scrapped this one for the purpose of this video. Thanks for the message.
