Upon looking back at this after finishing the game this part makes so much sense to me now. They really were dropping off subtle foreshadowing in here It seems that the intro was also foreshadowing the other chapters here too 1:37, you'll need to slow down the video a bit but you can see the silhouettes of the major characters in each chapter
So I came back to this after beating the game to catch the foreshadowing that I missed the first time around. Here’s what I noticed (do not expand if you do not want spoilers): 1. At the beginning, Yuma gives a smirk that seems uncharacteristic of him. That’s because it’s not the Yuma we’re familiar with, but Number One. 2. Yakou and Kanai Tower are given focus in the exact same shot, hinting at the homunculus plot twist and Makoto’s true connection to the city. 3. The dark hallways with the neon lighting hint at each chapter. The first hallway shows a Nail Man victim from Chapter 1, the second hallway shows Kurumi to represent Chapter 2, the third hallway shows the fake Number One calling the NDA, the fourth hallway shows the Peacekeepers to represent Chapter 3, the fifth hallway shows Ama-Pal from Chapter 4, and the sixth hallway shows Yuma surrounded by mist, which represents desolate places like the restricted area in Chapter 5. Yuma is also shown grabbing a Mystery Labyrinth’s final Solution Key in this hallway, hinting at the final confrontation against Makoto. 4. When the black box opens, we see a shadowy figure with glowing red eyes, hinting at both the zombies and the berserk homunculi. This same shadow appears later being confronted by Yuma, this time not only representing the final confrontation against Makoto, but also hinting at the plot twist of Makoto being Yuma’s homunculus. 5. This opening is the first time we learn Makoto’s name instead of his actual introduction, which seems odd because of the fact that his name was hidden from the promotional material. Not only that, but his last name, Kagutsuchi, is the name of the Japanese god of fire. Also, the fact that Makoto appears in the intro but the Peacekeeper leaders other than Yomi and Martina don’t is a major hint that Makoto’s more important to the plot than he appears. 6. The colored silhouettes not only represent characters important to that chapter, but the pink/purple silhouettes are all characters who were taken out of the picture in that respective chapter. For Chapters 0, 1, and 2, it’s Pucci, the priest, and Yoshiko, who all died, while for Chapter 4, it’s Yomi, who was arrested.
Also adding this section : [Spoiler] 1. When Yuma was sucked into cube and the black cube exposed to shadow figures, it represents the cliffhanger of ch 4 when they got drugged by makoto's cube. 2. Also, after the cube scene we got another character introduction, and guess what, it's Martina, who supposedly punished by Yomi (and guess the punishment was)
Its a shame how underrated this game is, I love mystery and the game made me feel so smart and stupid simultaneously and the plot was incredible im not gonna go into details, if you havent played the game stop reading comments, dont spoil yourself experience it blind, the game has some faults and mystery labryinths take some time getting used to but the highs make the game incredible

Their birthdays are on very similar dates, the design is clearly very inspired (especially by DISTRUST’s Makoto), and he also has similar, hopeful and leader-like persona. Also, in the final labyrinth on Chapter 5, Makoto‘s phantom (disguised as Yuma’s) shoots with bullets of the truth, clearly referencing DISTRUST and Trigger Happy Havoc.

same with the zero escape games, imo i think they tried to go 3d too early on those as back then their 2d art was so much better but having this level of graphics for vlr and ztd would be great

I lvoeee the designs in this game. They all follow a very neon aesthetic. Which I LOVE to see, it's especially visible in, Yuma's cape, Halara's glasses, Vivias jacket and Seths dangling hoodie strap thingies (they're adorable btw.) Also Makoto Kagutsuchi has such an amazing and interesting design and is such a good character. istg.
I totally understand where you are coming from. I also perfer Danganronpa’s more colorful cast of characters, but I also think Komatsuzaki was going for a different look these characters. The designs are more subdued and grayish. The colorful Danganronpa designs wouldn’t really fit in this game since Kanai Ward isn’t a very bright and colorful place.
thing is, each danganronpa game had a different aesthetic of kinds. Idrk where to put DR1, but DR2 had a very bright, saturated and colourful aesthetic, V3 had a very noir, sci-fi cyberpunk theme to it's designs, and Raincode's designs are more calm, they look like how I imagine parts of Kanai ward would look as characters. idk how to put it, their designs emit an aura of rainfall, and the neon included in a lot of the designs works so well.@@kiddkd7242
