    this is basically the '60s version of those hayabusa swapped matas, but factory from Honda with that legendary reliability. definitely a dream car.

    That's a sweet little car! It sure could benefit with a 5th gear.

    I had a s600 coupe, the thing I loved most about it was the way it tucked its backside down when you accelerated. They used to say the engine would run for a lot more than 100,000 miles or a lot less than 3000 never anything in between, it always depended on how good the work was done on it. Thanks for sharing, bought back a lot of good memories.

    The video I’ve been waiting for for such a long time!! Looks like the car is working 100%! Funny how these cars work at such high rpms; great sound but you think you’re doing 120 mph when you’re going 40 mph...🤣

    Great video man, thanks for sharing, finally we see the Honda rev up on a scenic sunny morning drive. What a nice little ride this S-600 is, and you certainly don't need a radio in that one. Thanks also for showing the rev counter, sure is impressive how this little engine spins. By the way, it always gives me the creeps when I see you overtaking from the right, complete no-go over here in Germany, you never do that. Also nice to see a car with a choke to pull before you start. Reminds me of the old days when I was a young driver.

    Looks like a beautiful morning in PV! I miss living and driving on the coast. They take a while to warm up, don't they. Two words for you: Koni Classics. If you can find them, fronts are 80-1865 and rears are 80-1866. Thanks for the ride!

    I just binge-watched the whole build. You did a great job!
    I got my drivers license in '75 and really wanted a British sports car. I went to the local dealer and tried them on. They didn't fit! I'm too big! I don't remember the Honda sports cars back then. The Honda dealerships were more interested in selling CVCCs. I bought a 280Z and didn't look back.
    But I've always wanted a little sports car like the S600. I probably couldn't fin in it either! But it really looks like fun! You have some perfect roads to drive. And great scenery for filming! The sound is just amazing (you repaired your muffler - I haven't heard of that in years!). And from a 1000cc engine!
    Thanks for the great videos and the road trip!

    The Japanese sure do make their cars differently than we do in America. Many of the most memorable American classics featured large V8 engines and were so long that feet were only just barely useful to measure them, and that's a hilarious juxtaposition next to this two cylinder chain-driven tiny convertible.

    • @SuperPremiumDeluxe
      @SuperPremiumDeluxe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It’s a 606cc 4 cylinder that is not chain driven (unless you mean timing chains?). It was made for the car and not a motorcycle engine. It was high technology for the time with roller bearing crankshaft, DOHC, etc. When it came out it beat out Lamborghini for highest specific output.

    Although it is made to rev, the sound isn't really what it needs to be to invite you to go to the higher RPMs. It sounds like it's trying too hard. I think that is exactly what you also described yourself, in an earlier video. The newer HONDAs, equipped with VTEC (like CRX, Integra Type R, and so on), do really invite you to go towards the rev limiter. But nevertheless... it is an awesome car to drive around in. But I'd personally would really use it to cruise around, enjoy the scenery, at low(er) speed.

    • @Jerod_Helt
      @Jerod_Helt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Roy Brueren I enjoy it the most between 4-7k rpm. It’s cool that it can go higher but it’s not necessary unless you need to drive at highway speeds. It does sound amazing even at lower RPMs 👍

      @@Jerod_Helt the gearbox and the shifting action seems incredible for a car from the 60s’. I have never seen one in Europe. Not even in Japan in fact but then I m there only for business trips. Maybe at the Honda museum in Motegi. Really nice car! Used properly!
