The piano at the end of "Undone (The Sweater Song)" sounds so unique because rather than hitting the keys, they opened up the lid on the grand piano and plucked the strings with a pick.
First time I saw Weezer in concert in '01 they ended with Only in Dreams and they rained a crap ton of confetti from the ceiling. Made for such a surreal experience.

After all the sadness of grunge - and Cobain's suicide - Weezer brought a fun vibe back to rock. But you're right, there's a definite sadness underneath. That would become more explicit in the next album, Pinkerton. Rivers Cuomo has a lot of abandonment issues, which you can hear in Say It Ain't So, which is all about his father's alcoholism.

One of the most replayable albums of all time! Whenever I try to listen to a track on it I end up eventually listening to the whole thing for quite some time. The song concepts and structures are so fun to listen to, the songwriting paints the scene well. Also a great album to learn instruments to, helped me learn bass and drums. They were technically proficient but not overly complex. Pinkerton is fantastic as well, not quite as accessible from the start, but eventually digs deep and is just as rewarding.
Yeah I can see that, there's a down to earth vibe that their music gives off which makes it very accessible and yet technically it's a great album. I am looking forward to hearing Pinkerton and seeing what they do differently on that one!
Pinkerton is more hit or miss to me, there's a couple of skippable songs on there, but the highs are way higher than anything on Blue. Across the Sea is probably my all time favorite Weezer song.
Its so bizarre hearing this kind of perspective on the album. To me, the blue album is my whole life. I grew up with Blue, at age 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. My favorite album ever, a familiar hug in tough times, etc. Its very interesting to hear how someone hears this for the first time as an adult. That was a trip! I hope you enjoyed the album as much as I enjoyed watching you experience it! Excited to see Pinkerton reaction.
That face you made when you first heard the opening baseline to “only in dreams” made me smile. I love when people like my favorite song from my favorite band
This record got me into American alternative rock, if it wasn’t for Weezer I would never have gotten into Deftones so this is a special record to me. It’s also a classic, Ric Ocasek’s production really shines shines bright on this thing. Loved your reaction!
YES!!!! Same here. I got to the Deftones via a horrible Korn addition. But it all started with this record. From there I fell in love with the Strokes, who are just the love child of the Cars and the Ramones.
People credit Nirvana for the start of grunge, and the 90s alt rock movement, and I won't refute that, but they didn't grab me the way this album did. This was my gateway drug to some really great music.
What I love about this album is that it is such a fun album to listen to musically and the lyrics are so real and authentic. It gives a glimpse into the mind of a social outcast; with the hard stuff he is going through on a daily basis in terms of loneliness and isolation, as well as the fantasy of living a better life with some hope sprinkled in. I have always resonated with Rivers lyrics on this album which is why I can always go back to it and never get tired of it.
1994 was insane. Would love to hear you review the other two albums of the "Big Three" that year that inspired pop punk: Offspring's Smash and Green Day's Dookie. That same year we also got: Nine Inch Nails - Downward Spiral //Cranberries - No Need to Argue //REM - Monster //Bush - Sixteen Stone //Beck - Mellow Gold //Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies //Pearl Jam - Vitology //Soundgarden - Superunknown //Beastie Boys - Ill Communicaton //Blur - Parklife //Oasis - Definitely Maybe //STP - Purple //Live - Throwing Copper// Cake - Motorcade of Generosity
Love all of those...but would add Alice in Chains - Dirt, Smashing Pumpkins- Siamese Dream and the unbelievable Jane's Addiction - Ritual De La Habitual. Probably a couple years before these listed but bona-fide all time greats in my book. Btw Dookie from front to back is the best Green Day album ever made. Cheers!
1994 was the latter half of my freshman year and first half of my sophomore year in high school. I spent my money on 3 main things - CDs, tickets to shows, and weed. It was a glorious time.
I interpret Undone the sweater song as a metaphor for someone's social anxiety. The sweater is the mind and the more undone it becomes, the more the person loses their ability to interact. The lyrics feel like a person desperately trying to start a conversation with someone but failing horribly. That also explains why you hear voices of people at the start of the song as it's like the person is at a party. Also funny how you mentioned the album has a beachy feel considering Rivers Cuomo (lead singer and guitar) is a known fan of the beach boys.
Not many people realize that the song isn’t a metaphor at all. It’s actually a very literal song about a period in his life when his experimenting with sweater rompers made him a great many enemies.
As someone who has probably listened to this album over 5000 times, thank you for this video. I feel like your commentary is the closest I’ll ever get to hearing it for the first time again
I love this band and this album so insanely much. Weezer is the perfect blend of melodic laid back chill beach music and high intensity dirty crunchy gunge with hints of folk and garage band.
not sure if anyone has pointed this out to you, but one of Rivers biggest influences is the Beach Boys. i like to think the lighthearted feel to a lot of the tracks stem from that. :) great vid, subbed!
This came out in 1994 and has become an influential classic! People struggle to define the genre of their sound, it's been called: alternative rock, power pop, pop rock, pop punk, emo, indie rock, emo pop, geek rock, melodic metal, and pop.
Loved this and Pinkerton's review. The structure and cleanliness of your videos are outstanding. Never give up on numbering the track again after you've heard it!
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. I love how the TH-cam algorithm gave me this video. It's amazing to see her hear these songs for the first time. This, front-to-back, is one of my favorite albums of all time. No lie, I put it up there with Abbey Road as a comprehensive full-listen album now that we have Spotify and can stream any random song in the world. I remember listening to this album walking home from the bus stop on my CD player and it wouldn't stop skipping during Surf Wax America and I played it like 5 times in a row haha.. not to be a boomer about it, but *when I was a kid* we had to walk 15 minutes to catch the school bus instead of getting dropped off out front of our houses.. and we listened to music on CDs (although this was obviously on cassette as well) and even with "anti-skip technology" if you didn't walk super slow/gently the songs skipped ALL THE TIME.
Pretty cool that Sweater Song is your favorite track as that was their very first single/music video they released. But it was their second single and music video that would get everyone's attention. I was in High School in '94 when I heard Sweater Song and from then on, Weezer became my favorite. I've heard many reviews of Blue, Pink, Green... all their albums but never heard it dissected and analyzed so eloquently. Seeing your reactions to hearing their songs for the first time brought back wonderful memories. So nostalgic it felt like I was rediscovering them all over again--thank you for that. Can't wait until you hear Pinkerton and hope you eventually get to one of their recent album's, OK Human. P.S. Saw them this year at Hella Mega Tour and though they're old, Rivers still has the pipes and the band still rocks.
Wow, thanks, I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the video! I'm certainly looking forward to hearing Pinkerton next, and see what sound they go in the direction with on that one.
@@mollyesanborn you should do the deluxe version as many consider the Pinkerton Bsides (as well as the previously unreleased trafic girl) the best songs by the band.
One of my top ten albums of all time. This album literally changed my musical life and got me started learning guitar. It was 1998 and I had just moved in with my cousin's family. He was really into punk music and had a copied cassette tape of this album, but it was missing the last song. Something about being 15 years old and hearing this for the first time was life changing. It took me a few months to save up to buy the CD but once I did I was able to hear Only in Dreams for the first time. It literally made me teary eyed because of it's beauty, and that was it for me. This album was the best thing I'd ever heard (besides the Beatles albums). Deftones were the next band to do that to me a couple years later when I heard 'Change' for the first time on the radio. So anyway, my cousin used to play the songs on this album on his guitar and I just had to learn too. I devoured guitar chords over several months and I finally was able to play the songs. I would never have learned to play guitar or write songs if it hadn't been for this album. It's got a special place in my heart. It's funny that you say this album isn't very polished because it's actually more polished and over-produced than their second album Pinkerton, which many people consider to be their best. Also, I love how you picked up on the beach vibe because Rivers Cuomo was a big Beach Boys fan. Anyway, I'm really happy to see you appreciate this album Molly :)
Edgy high school me listened to this album to death lol. This album and band were what got me into music apart from just casually listening to music on the radio in the car. Thanks for covering it!

Massive fan of weezer here and I gotta say this is a great reaction video. Good commentary, reasonable comparisons and the best part was that at some points I felt like I was listening to it for the first time again. Nice video
Thank you, I appreciate that! It always makes me happy to hear when people get to relive listening to an album for the first time through my videos. :)
Pinkerton is a masterpiece! Very excited for that reaction! It was a complete failure at first, but in a few years gained cult status. In 2002 readers of Rolling Stone voted it as the 16th greatest album of all time despite, just a few years earlier, voting it the 3rd worst album of 1996.
@@mollyesanborn it’s just what most companies and mass consumers wanted at the time mainly pop rock, which it doesn’t help they had some controversy with a couple of songs on the album mainly “across the sea” (which I mean yeah love the song but damn though lyrics are definitely creepy) and pink triangle which I don’t get why it was controversial except it just mentioning lesbians in the track in general.
I don't normally watch reaction videos, i'm can only belive i got this recommended to me because i'm a long time weezer fan, but i loved watching someone appriciate their songs, and you said you loved the singer's voice, and that's one of my biggest reasons for liking them aswell!
I loved your Reaction. Please keep doing it throughout all the Weezer discography. Know that you’re gonna be pissed of sometimes, but the overall is marvelous. Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷
Weezer has never been about pretentious lyrics or taking themselves too seriously. The variety of influences for this album are really unique: from folk, to metal, to garage rock/indie, to early alternative grunge. This album is really special, Weezer has never quite matched it from beginning to end of an album, although Pinkerton blew my mind in 96/97
Watching them play this live was a real treat, the lead singer Rivers got down off the stage on a razor scooter and sung say it ain't so in a moshpit with the crowd. Weezer is one of the better bands out there and content like this is excellent! Keep up the good work!
Weezer holds a special spot in my heart. They’re the first band I saw in concert, they were the soundtrack to my senior year in high school and I got to play with them back in 2008(ish)...whatever year they were touring the Red album. Although the quality of their music has significantly declined since Maladroit, they’ll forever be one of my favourites.
Rolling Stone had a panel of some of the greatest guitarists of all time vote on the greatest guitar tracks of all time and Only In Dreams landed solidly in the top 10
I names my son Jonas, so when he introduces himself to others he can say, “Hi, My Name Is Jonas!” I named my kid after the first track on their first studio album. Tell Rivers! Lol Also, try out the Pixies, if you dig Weezer you may enjoy them too. They are a little more experimental sounding
I was a 13 year old boy who loved Happy Days on nick at nite, and the beach boys greatest hits. And then I saw the video for Buddy Holly on MTV one day. Needless to say it changed my life.
This album is my gateway to listen to different early 2000 Indie bands and made me appreciate my inner geekiness because of the track "In the Garage" its about being yourself with your action figures and stuffs
The first time I heard this album I was at work and after it finished i listened to it 2 more times back to back. Glad to see someone else enjoying it as well. I highly recommend their 1997 album Pinkerton.
If you like this album, a couple of more from this generation you'd probably enjoy as well: Alien ant farm - Anthology Yellowcard - One for the Kids Incubus - Make yourself
Looking forward to Pinkerton! Here's a tip: you should pay attention to the lyrics when you listen to Pinkerton as the album has a more concrete theme than Blue.
I'm impressed that someone could listen to this album and be so analytical. I've never been able to listen to it without completely melting into it and losing myself. To me, this album has attained the incredibly rare Perfect Album status, where every track is an audio confection.
I always liked their song "Suzanne" from the Mallrats soundtrack it's very Weezer's sound not really that experimental but it's fun. If you wanna check out something related to Weezer when their Bass Player Mark Sharp's band The Rentals debut album Return of the Rentals is an awesome record and i Honestly enjoy The Rentals more than Weezer.
Would 100% recommend going through their entire discography. Weezer has one of the most diverse catalogs I’ve heard from a band, and they’re still going strong
@@mollyesanborn I remember your Around The Fur video was in my recommendations and I've been subscribed since, if you're looking for another band to checkout I recommend Fightstar their last album reminds me of a cleaner version of Deftones Gore
Undone - The Sweater Song is my favorite as well. I love the harmonies in the chorus. I went to the Hella Mega Tour concert (Weezer, Fall Out Boy, and Green Day) in Atlanta, Georgia. We got there around the time Weezer, the first band to perform, was playing. We were about to go in, but they turned us around at security because they wouldn’t allow purses for some odd reason. We had to walk a good distance away to put here bag in a locker and I could hear just slightly in the distance the guitar solo of The Sweater Song and realized we were missing it. I missed my favorite Weezer song because of my mom’s, not even that big, purse. I still get annoyed by it to this day even though it has been many months. Weezer finished their concert with a band with Say It Ain’t So and Buddy Holly which was great. Green Day though… They were the best man. That concert was great.
Oh man, I have listened to this album SO MANY TIMES in the last 20+ years, but watching you hear + react to it for the first time was so fun and made it feel so fresh and new. Thank you! Also, Weezer's first 3 albums are great road tripping music!
Amazing that there are people who have never heard Weezer before but have ranked all of Muse's albums, not hating at all just...wow. My favorite part of this review was you listening to Buddy Holly for the first time. Been a Weezer fan since blue album dropped in 94. Their music along with Deftones (and many others) was the soundtrack to my existence from 6th-12th grade. Listens to No One Else: "That one had some really messed up lyrics going on" Me: LOL you are not ready for all of Pinkerton. Please keep up the great work in expanding your musical horizons. I still recommend The Pixies, At the Drive In, System of a Down and Coheed & Cambria.
Thanks for the comment! I know, Weezer is one of those bands I've heard about for a long time but just never got around to listening to their music for whatever reason. Can't wait to hear Pinkterton, that makes me even more intrigued to hear it.
If you get a spare few mins, check out the official video for Buddy Holly. Directed by Spike Jonze, tons of fun, it really made that song the hit it became (back when MTV could do that).
Eager to hear you run through the rest of their stuff! Their discography is very interesting and different people seem to have wildly varying opinions past Blue and Pinkerton, so it's cool to see someone experience them for the first time.
Recently stumbled upon your channel. Weezer...Alice in Chains...Smashing Pumpkins... I love this. Its like you've taken what defined me as a teen and are breaking it all down.

I love the way you pronounce the word Acoustic..I say A-COO-STICK...you say A-CUE-STICK..and I adore it - PS> The reason this album sounds so crisp and perfectly Garage..is not only rivers Cuomo being a genius..but Ric Ocasek produced it..he was the lead singer of The Cars..and this album is basically the greatest Cars album ever made by way of Weezer..
"No One Else" is about a bad girlfriend and listing off the traits he'd rather have in a girlfriend. "My girl's got a big mouth With which she blabbers a lot" Talks about stuff he'd prefer be kept private and/or misleads and lies to people "She laughs at most everything Whether it's funny or not" Laughing at other guy's jokes (in the flirtatious sense) The chorus also tells us more on the current girlfriend by listing what traits he'd prefer: "...laugh for no one else" - current girlfriend is flirting with others "When I'm away... ...puts her makeup on the shelf" - current girlfriend is wearing it to impress other guys "...never leaves the house" - current girlfriend is hanging out with other guys In the next verse we get the following lines: "My girl's got eyeballs In the back of her head She looks around and around" His current girlfriend is always keeping a close eye on him, possibly because she thinks he is cheating. Someone who themself is cheating often does this, often to try and justify their own cheating. The lyrics have not aged well when it comes to modern standards, and because of new standards we should strive to understand what was meant when it was originally written. Apologies for the long-winded (and probably poorly written) comment, I got distracted while typing this.
@@mollyesanborn While I get that the context of those lyrics might have been different when it was released, this is still the song i always skip when listening to this album. It makes Rivers sound like a total douche to me. Being possessive of another person just feels kinda wrong, and listening to this song in its "straight forward" and unironical way makes me feel really uncomfortable. There are moments like this on Pinkerton (i.e. "Across the Sea") as well, but that album feels more like a personal, confessional album where he acknowledges many problematic sides of his mind. I don't get this feeling here, but maybe that's just me. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts "The History Guy" and thanks for the video, Molly. I really enjoyed it. :)
Wasn't the song made to be a "douchebag's anthem of being overly controlling of his girlfriend" to serve as a setup for the next song (The World Has Turned And Left Me Here) where said douchebag gets left by the girlfriend and he wonders where he went wrong, cause he was so oblivious to his own dickotry? (Though I guess that could just be a Rivers Retcon)
Subbed for that "Pinkerton" review! Hope you review all my favorite bands albums. There style has changed so much over the years, but they are still killing it!
I think you should try out Maladroit (although personally I think that this album has some weak hooks) and their new Album, OK Human. In my personal opinion as a Weezer fan my favorite song off the Blue Album is either Buddy Holly or Holiday
I don't know how I ended up here, gretings from Chile by the way... I loved your analysis and i love this album, you have a very relaxing voice and what a great review :)
Wow what a walk down memory lane. I was a fan when they first played on KROQ and had my first chance to see them live was at the Warped Tour 2000' with Green Day, and NOFX along with other great bands . Great Show and great musicians.
Buddy Holly and then Undone is great tracks back to back. And then Say it Ain't So is always stuck in my head. Confused how you never heard this. Congrats. Some forever love albums I'd recommend is United States of America (1967), of Montreal -Satanic Panic, Broadcast - Ha Ha Sound, or John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band.
Yeah, not sure how I've never heard Weezer before either. I guess they were just one of those bands that missed my radar for whatever reason. I'm glad I've finally given some of their stuff a listen! Thanks for the recommendations, I'll have to check them out.
Hey! that was a nice video. TH-cam recommended me your video and I like your thoughts about this album, when I was a teenager I really enjoyed the harmonies of the voices and it always seemed like a very fun album. I'll wait your next video. Greetings from Perú
Rivers, Weezer's main singer and lyricist on this album has said that track 2 (No One Else) and 3 (The World Has Turned) are connected, sort of like the world leaving him because of the messed up stuff in No One Else. isolating and borderline abusing a girl, and then she leaves the character and he feels as if the entire worlds against him. I'm fairly certain the song isn't autobiographical, but it's an interesting enough story.
This album is a 90s GOLD. Its as good as their 2nd which is Pinkerton. These are their BEST albums when they still had Matt Sharp on bass. As you can see, the 90s and 2000s songs are more "larger than life" on song writing with our loud guitars and i just miss it.
Just nice to hear someone, who knows what they're talking about, talk about something you love. Blue and Pinkerton are both endlessly replayable 10/10s. Pinkerton is very different, much more emo and dark. That 'beachy' vibe is pretty much gone and it was really panned when it came out by critics and fans alike. But people have really come around. Pinkerton is the first album I ever bought and Weezer are the first band I started following. My whole love for music started with this band, so I love them a lot and have followed them through and endless amount of disappointing records.
Hmm, that makes me really intrigued to hear Pinkerton! It'll be interesting to hear them without that beachy, laid back vibe to their sound. Glad you enjoyed the video :)

Can't wait for Pinkerton! And thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to check it out. Edit: just listened to Glow On today, what a fun album! I really enjoyed it. I love the fusion of genres that they embrace, there's a strong pop punk sound to it but they throw a lot of other stuff on there too. I think Blackout, Holiday and Fly Again are my favorite tracks atm. Thanks for recommending it :)
Yeah, I do love this album! It's got such a laid back quality to it and yet it brings a lot of emotion into its sound as well. Is the album that you're mentioning Jar Of Flies by Alice In Chains? I'll have to check out, I know some others have been recommending that band to me in the comments.
It's interesting you found "Say It Ain't So" to have such a relaxed vibe. Which it does. But I think it has the most intense lyrics of the album. I got this CD when it came out, and it just sorta gets better over time. Pinkerton is quite different, but very good. I wouldn't really recommend much after that. I'm gonna get hate for that comment. lol

This record got me into American alternative rock, if it wasn’t for Weezer I would never have gotten into Deftones so this is a special record to me. It’s also a classic, Ric Ocasek’s production really shines shines bright on this thing. Loved your reaction!
Glad you enjoyed the reaction! :)
YES!!!!
I think Nirvana beat Wheezer on the timeline. Could be wrong
What's this album gotta do with grunge, though?
King Crimson started grunge
Nirvana didn't invent grunge. Green River started it in 1984.
Yeah, certainly an influential year for rock music!
good year, great stuff. some of the best ever.
Cheers!
Ahem! PJ Harvey: "Rid Of Me" (hot on the heels of her awesome debut album, "Dry.")
That's a really interesting interpretation, it makes a lot of sense though!
Not many people realize that the song isn’t a metaphor at all. It’s actually a very literal song about a period in his life when his experimenting with sweater rompers made him a great many enemies.
Very excited for Pinkerton, my favorite album of the 90s. A little out there, but more progressive, noisier, and a lot more introspective overall.
I am looking forward to hearing Pinkerton!
As someone who has probably listened to this album over 5000 times, thank you for this video. I feel like your commentary is the closest I’ll ever get to hearing it for the first time again
Thank you, that honestly means a lot! It's why I love making these videos :)
only 5000 times
I love this band and this album so insanely much. Weezer is the perfect blend of melodic laid back chill beach music and high intensity dirty crunchy gunge with hints of folk and garage band.
Haha, that description is pretty on point!
not sure if anyone has pointed this out to you, but one of Rivers biggest influences is the Beach Boys. i like to think the lighthearted feel to a lot of the tracks stem from that. :) great vid, subbed!
A few others have mentioned that! I can totally hear that Beach Boys influence throughout the Blue album.
Perfect album. Don’t have to skip a single song.
This came out in 1994 and has become an influential classic! People struggle to define the genre of their sound, it's been called: alternative rock, power pop, pop rock, pop punk, emo, indie rock, emo pop, geek rock, melodic metal, and pop.
yeah, they really fuse a lot of genres together on this album!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for the comment, it was fun to read :)
Thank you so much for your review of this album. Took me down memory lane and I'm glad you enjoyed listening to it. Fantastic review. :D
Thanks! Happy to hear that my video helped inspire some nostalgia :)
Yeah, I totally get the Beach Boys inspiration for the sound of this album. I'm really looking forward to hearing what Pinkerton sounds like...
Excellent story bro, love hearing that kinda stuff
That quiet-loud dynamic they employ comes from bands like Dinosaur Jr. Check out their album Bug for something similar but a step up in the intensity.
Weezer is not one of my favorite artists, but this is one of the best albums of all time. Literally I would put it up against any album by any artist.
Edgy high school me listened to this album to death lol. This album and band were what got me into music apart from just casually listening to music on the radio in the car. Thanks for covering it!
This channel is a hidden gem and I'm calling it now that it's gonna BLOW up 👏🏾 I did a quick look through all of your videos and you cover so many genres and artists that don't get enough love that you're gonna have a ton of people flooding this page. Keep up the great work! 🔥
Aw thanks! I appreciate the kind words :)
I always get goosebumps when the solo on The World has Turned comes up. Don't know why, it just resonates with me.
Wow, that's quite the turnaround! I wonder what changed the minds of music critics? I am very intrigued to hear it, that's for sure.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! :)
This album is really special, Weezer has never quite matched it from beginning to end of an album, although Pinkerton blew my mind in 96/97
Yeah, they sure do fuse a lot of different genres on this album!
Watching them play this live was a real treat, the lead singer Rivers got down off the stage on a razor scooter and sung say it ain't so in a moshpit with the crowd. Weezer is one of the better bands out there and content like this is excellent! Keep up the good work!
That's the most Rivers thing I've ever heard
Haha, that's awesome! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
You got to play with them? That's pretty awesome!
I feel like White, EWBAITE, Van Weezer, and OK Human were a relapse into better songs, but not as much near that peak as their first couple of albums.
Rolling Stone had a panel of some of the greatest guitarists of all time vote on the greatest guitar tracks of all time and Only In Dreams landed solidly in the top 10
YOU HAVE BEEN WHEEZED!
Being serious though, you check out the wheezer song "Death and Destruction" it's my favorite and borderline their most power pop song which I love
I always loved In The Garage. Just the way he says garage when he sings it lol.
groj
I names my son Jonas, so when he introduces himself to others he can say, “Hi, My Name Is Jonas!”
I named my kid after the first track on their first studio album. Tell Rivers! Lol
Also, try out the Pixies, if you dig Weezer you may enjoy them too. They are a little more experimental sounding
Haha that's awesome, I love that you did that! I've heard some music from The Pixies but I definitely need to give more of their stuff a listen.
I really like the lyrics of No One Else. It satisfies my jealous side.
Also, The World Has Turned And Left Me Here is a gem of a song.
You should do Weezer’s White Album!
The first time I heard this album I was at work and after it finished i listened to it 2 more times back to back. Glad to see someone else enjoying it as well. I highly recommend their 1997 album Pinkerton.
where did you work at sneaky dee's?
'96 *___*
If you like this album, a couple of more from this generation you'd probably enjoy as well:
Alien ant farm - Anthology
Yellowcard - One for the Kids
Incubus - Make yourself
The first albums are the best ones. They are a fun band. The 90’s are the best. The bass line for Only In dreams is the best( Matt Sharp forever)
Your analysis was pretty spot on! You picked it apart really well for a first listen
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video!
Cool, I'll have to check them out!
@@mollyesanborn You really should, that first album was really really good. I loved it.
Would 100% recommend going through their entire discography. Weezer has one of the most diverse catalogs I’ve heard from a band, and they’re still going strong
Love that you got to experience Weezer's blue album for the first time...fantastic and spot on commentary! You have a new sub!
Ah, thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Always a great reminder that this channel exists
:D
@@mollyesanborn I remember your Around The Fur video was in my recommendations and I've been subscribed since, if you're looking for another band to checkout I recommend Fightstar their last album reminds me of a cleaner version of Deftones Gore
Ooh, I'll have to check it out!
Yeah, I can imagine a road trip with Weezer playing would be pretty awesome! Glad to hear you enjoyed the video :)
Aw this makes me want to be able to listen to say it ain’t so for the first time again 😭
My comfort album.
Listens to No One Else: "That one had some really messed up lyrics going on"
Me: LOL you are not ready for all of Pinkerton.
I'll have to check it out!
Eager to hear you run through the rest of their stuff! Their discography is very interesting and different people seem to have wildly varying opinions past Blue and Pinkerton, so it's cool to see someone experience them for the first time.
One of my favorite albums of all time!
Recently stumbled upon your channel. Weezer...Alice in Chains...Smashing Pumpkins...
I love this. Its like you've taken what defined me as a teen and are breaking it all down.
Glad that you're enjoying the videos! :)
your insights and commentary were so fun and interesting to watch!! The deluxe tracks of the blue album are also worth a listen, theyre very catchy
This album and the Toadies Rubberneck album where two of the best when I was growing up. You should definitely check out the Toadies Rubberneck album. The most unique album I have ever heard
Just found your channel like 30 minutes ago, really like your videos!
And yes, you should definitely do Pinkerton next
Thanks for watching! I am looking forward to hearing Pinkerton.
Blue album will always hold a special place in my heart
I love the way you pronounce the word Acoustic..I say A-COO-STICK...you say A-CUE-STICK..and I adore it - PS> The reason this album sounds so crisp and perfectly Garage..is not only rivers Cuomo being a genius..but Ric Ocasek produced it..he was the lead singer of The Cars..and this album is basically the greatest Cars album ever made by way of Weezer..
"No One Else" is about a bad girlfriend and listing off the traits he'd rather have in a girlfriend.
"My girl's got a big mouth
With which she blabbers a lot"
Talks about stuff he'd prefer be kept private and/or misleads and lies to people
"She laughs at most everything
Whether it's funny or not"
Laughing at other guy's jokes (in the flirtatious sense)
The chorus also tells us more on the current girlfriend by listing what traits he'd prefer:
"...laugh for no one else" - current girlfriend is flirting with others
"When I'm away... ...puts her makeup on the shelf" - current girlfriend is wearing it to impress other guys
"...never leaves the house" - current girlfriend is hanging out with other guys
In the next verse we get the following lines:
"My girl's got eyeballs
In the back of her head
She looks around and around"
His current girlfriend is always keeping a close eye on him, possibly because she thinks he is cheating.
Thanks for the comment! I can totally see how this track could be misinterpreted in terms of its lyrics, but your explanation makes a lot of sense.
@@dusty2080 Notice how Rivers says "do you believe what i sing now?" at the end of the world has turned and left me here
Robin Scherbatsky doing album reactions? I’m here for it :)
Haha!
Nice vid/reaction. I can listen to that album ANYTIME, ANYWHERE - never could I ever get sick of it (IMO a classic!)
I loved your
analysis and i love this album, you have a very relaxing voice and what a great review :)
Glad you stumbled across the channel, happy to hear that you enjoyed the video :)
When you said it sounded like a jam session "in the garage," I thought, "Just wait until track eight!"
Deftones covered "Say It Ain't So" a few times, if I remember right.
Thanks for watching, so glad you found the channel! I've got a Pinkerton video coming soon :)
Strangely enough, I haven’t listened to this album in its entirety, so this is a first for me too.
If you like this album, then you’ll love Everything Will Be Alright in the End and the White album, which kind of have similar vibes to the blue album
Another awesome reaction from another awesome group! Keep up the fine work!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video :)
I'm so glad you enjoyed this album, definitely one of my favorites, I really hope you review Pinkerton soon. love to hear your thoughts on that. also: weezers white album dives even deeper into the beach sounding theme
Heck yes! Keep being awesome.
Thanks! :)
I love weezer
Only in dreams stayed on repeat for me for like two years straight
In my Top 10 of All Time🙂
Love the reaction! Big Weezer fan, I suggest you check out their album Pinkerton. Also, while watching this, when Holiday came in, it reminded me of another song thats also titled Holiday and its by the band Turnstile. I highly suggest you check their latest record Glow On! It just came out and Im more than 100% sure you'll love it. 💓
This Album is so incredible, awesome reaction :), Weezer is the awesome band and good music. You can also Take a look a the album Jar or Files 💪🎶
I'm gonna get hate for that comment. lol
I can't wait to hear Pinkerton!
