Absolutely one of the most beautiful heartfelt renditions I've heard to date. I hope you'll consider recording a Christmas collection as it would be very moving. Thank you and God bless.
Dear Mark, thank you so much for your wonderful comment! I have some Christmas pieces but not many. You have inspired me to record them for the upcoming holiday season! God bless!
Beautiful. Our church is streaming Mass tomorrow and this is one of hymns that will be sung. I was in the choir before the Coronavirus and I have sung it before but I never sung it with such meaning like this. You are truly anointed. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you!
This is my absolute favorite rendition of this Hymn..I always use your Video to practice whenever I have to Cantor Mass. I also got a Solo in our Community Christmas Interfaith Choir Cantata by singing this in your style as my audition. We have similar ranges / octaves; Would love to see you post more standards, thanks for sharing your gift with us! 👍
John, I am so delighted to hear you like my rendition. Of course, to God alone be the glory "solie deo gloria" i think they say in latin! lol No one puts a light under a bucket. Share your voice with the world. God Bless my friend!
Taste and see the goodness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord. I will bless the Lord at all times. Praise will be on my lips. My soul will glory in the Lord. The poor will hear and be glad. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord. I sought the Lord who answered me, delivered me from my fear. Look to God that you might shine with the radiance of God's joy. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord. The Lord has eyes for justice, ears to hear your cry. God knows your broken heart. The Lord redeems a loyal servant. Take refuge in your God. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord

You have a rich-sounding timbre and incredible stamina, but your singing is also uniformly loud, except for the ending when you fade the sound out to conclude the video. It's like listening to someone pounding on the piano keys or blowing hard on a trumpet for an entire song. I'm not telling you this to hurt your feelings or to be mean. Try some variation in dynamics, and see how that might improve your interpretation. I watched your 'You Raise Me Up,' and six years from when you recorded 'Taste and See,' you still sound like somebody blaring on a microphone. This one ('Taste and See') is better, though, because your rendition of 'You Raise Me Up' was both blaring and pitchy. Don't put your rich voice quality to waste with flat artistry.
Hey friend, thank you so much for your input. I have heard similar comments so I believe what you are saying is valid. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out. I have taken your comments to heart and I will try and make those adjustments. Thank you so much and God Bless you friend!
@@mantheus3 Thanks for being open-minded. One of the best singers I've ever heard is a tenor named David Phelps. Almost ten years ago, he sang in a concert (the videos are up on TH-cam- he's clean-cut and wearing a tuxedo) in which every performance was sublime. He played with dynamics and variation in vocal registers. The interplay of subtlety and power was analogous to what chiaroscuro is to visual art. You, of course, have a different tessitura (baritone?) and gifts of your own, but see if you enjoy him as a vocal artist. Observe how he creates art with his singing. I'd start with his medley of 'Ave Maria/The Lord's Prayer,' then 'Nessun Dorma,' then 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from the same concert. In other concerts, he sometimes over-sings, in my opinion, but that particular concert was masterclass.
@@eigen1255 Hey.. I have never heard of David before. I'll check him out when I can. I'm actually a tenor but I always struggled with my higher range so I very rarely go higher than Bb at best. My favorite tenor is Fritz Wunderlich (not sure on spelling). Have you ever heard of him?
@@mantheus3 Fritz Wunderlich is great. Listen to how he changes up the dynamics, his phrasing, shifting of registers. His singing is beautiful. I'm listening to a recording of him performing Schubert now. His singing is just like a river flowing, changing direction, becoming faster and mightier then slower and more mellow and lightly sparkling, then ringing and mighty again as if coming down as a waterfall, then flowing calmly again. There's so much more to singing than just intoning words with the same quality and with the same volume throughout a musical piece. Singing with artistry is the opposite of marching with the same size of step and evenness of pacing. The thing they have in common is that the singer and the marcher exercise control such that the singer sings on pitch and the marcher marches with stability, but the control is applied with opposite deliberateness.
