It would be good if you rode through some muddy puddles and showed us how muddy you did or did not get. That's proof how they work. They still look too short to me to be effective.
It is all relative to what type of weather your riding in, if you dont want a bit of mud or rain then you need to go right down to the ground almost front and rear, but these work very well for my intended use.
Hello, I have a Mongoose Dolomite ALX bike, the tires are 4” inches wide so I need something about 4.3-4.5” inch mudguard set that will keep me out of mud and water and is affordable, what do you recommend?
You’d think paying these insane prices for full suspension DH bikes, etc they would engineer in proper rear fender mounts, or at least give us an option to have them included. I get that each manufacturer mounts their front fenders differently, and some don’t even make ones at all for specific forks. I’m surprised you didn’t opt for the actual Fox fenders, I want those nice forks eventually but they’re so damn expensive. Trying to find fenders for a bicycle that doesn’t have rack mounts is such a pita, especially if it has a lower end fork lol. I’ve been trying to find one for the bicycle I’m getting and it’s a chore. They’re either too short, ugly, or angled wayyyyy too much up from the rear tire.

fenders are great. they worked perfect when i was running slicks but when i put on maxxis holy rollers there was not enough clearance with my rock shox fork.. they rubbed
What about the rear protection? As short as the sheets are, the whole back is still full of mud. The protection is about me, not about the bike. It looks very good in the front, but too short in the back, but what I like is the width and the possibility of buying different versions
Yes true, you will always get muddy unless it is right to the bottom of the rear wheel, I do what works for me and it can be better but this works for me. cheers dave
Yeah, coming from road / gravel with proper extended / full coverage guards, there doesn't seem to be anything that offers similar for MTBs. Granted given the terrain the gear's never going to remain pristine, but more coverage would certainly be appreciated!
@@Mike-de7wv I think it’s cause anything past XC bikes don’t have rack mounts which can be used as a clean looking fender mount. I was looking at the Trek’s and only road, gravel, fat tire, and a select few XC bikes (including their e-bike versions) have the mounts. So you have to sacrifice aggressive trail geometry for XC geometry that has the mounts lol. Plus that’s just for hardtails, there’s zero mounts on any of their full suspension bikes. I just wish they stuck mounts on the Roscoes. I’d rather they stick them on them for us just for shits, and giggles than force us to pick, and choose. Even the little weld on bolt hole tabs like on the Farley frame family, and the new Marlin+ wouldn’t compromise the rigidity (which is the reason I’m assuming the DH/Trail bicycles don’t have the holes). Pretty much stuck with the goofy looking rear universal fender that attaches to the seat stem (which probably wouldn’t even work with a dropper post), or resort to having zip tied fenders.😂
I use the full front on the rear with the zip tie and it goes enough back to keep me mostly clean, you will never get everything unless you have a fender that wraps almost to the ground as spray comes up off the knobby tire easy. These do the best job though.
looks like on the max-front only the rearward facing part is longer compared to the standard front. are the forward facing parts of max and standard the same size?

These are way better than any fox fender. Bikes are expensive, you can find cheaper versions also, Happy Riding!
No, they are not the best. Expecially as rear fender is as short. All the mud will cover you anyways. Check SKS Mudgard :)

The back one is too short, you only have to look at the angle. Your going to get mud up your back 😮
unless your fender goes to the ground you will get mud on your backside, but this prevents most and keeps it out of the bearings...works as intended

Hi does the rear guard keep you clean as I run the proper rear guard and only protects the frame

Nope I use 3 m on the frame to protect it and I have only had to shave the fender where the chain rubs when in the 51 tooth gear.

Aerodynamics only make a difference over 30 km per hour, and even though it may seem like a sail, you wont keep up to it with your aero helmet
