      Nightwish: "Would you like to go world tour with us?"
      Floor: "I'm little bit busy now can talk tomorrow?"
      Nightwish "Ew... We kind of need you to Be in USA soon"

In case at some point taking a break from Nightwish (not that we want you to, but if/when that happens), may I suggest another amazing Finnish metal band: Wintersun. When they (media) asked Tuomas how he feels about having Floor as their new singer he said: "Floor is home." That says it all. She had also been in 2 other bands before Nightwish. After Forever and Re-Vamp. Nightwish knew her from festivals. They called Floor (on her sister's wedding day) if she wanted to fly to the USA and learn their setlist in 2 days so she could perform with them cause Annette fell ill during their world tour. I think the choice was easy when Annette left for good.

    • @sniperbob1992

      @@sniperbob1992 in the documentary "Please Learn The Setlist in 48hrs" they mention there was a flu going around the band. Anette came down with it to the the point they had to get a cover singer and had 2 girls from camelot fill in as the venue was already open and fans were waiting. Tuomas and Troy went out and told the fans they would either have to cancel the show or they could get a stand in. The fans were fine with stand ins and they went on with the show the best they could. I think Anette leaving was mutual but i do think her being hospitalized was part of the reason she left offically during that tour. Tuomas called Floor soon after and asked her if she could learn the setlist in 48hrs and go to Seattle, WA.

    The two songs where Tuomas shines the most are 'Shudder Before the Beautiful' live at Wembly, and 'The Greatest Show on Earth' live at Tampere and Wembly. (First Timers to TGSOE should start with the Tampere show for the fire presentation, but should then catch the Wembly next for the performance, and the special guest they bring on stage at the end for the reading)

    As for your "Poet and the pendulum" and "greatest show on earth" disclaimer....yes do indeed get to know the band first, especially with poet, as it''s, lyrically, a VERY deep and personal song for the band, so for that one especially, familiarize yourself with the lyrics and the story behind them, and perhaps even some of thier Tarja stuff(see previous suggestion) as the lyrics relate to thier separation from Tarja, and you enjoy seeing the "chemistry" among nightwish.

    Wanna hear Floor (just a little) in another setting? "The Source" is the 9th studio album from Ayreon, a progressive metal/rock opera project by Dutch musician Arjen Anthony Lucassen, released on April 28, 2017. "The Day The World Breaks Down" is a song that features all 11 (well known) main guest singers [James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Tommy Karevik (Kamelot, Seventh Wonder), Tommy Rogers (Between the Buried and Me) , Simone Simons (Epica), Nils K. Rue (Pagan's Mind), Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia), Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian), Mike Mills (ToeHider), Russell Allen (Symphony X), Michael Eriksen (Circus Maximus), Floor Jansen (Nightwish)] and is taken from that album. Arjen himself is telling (in subtitles) who the singers are and which instrument are used and by what standards.
    Btw. The clip is 13 min. Long and I think you won’t regret it !!

    The amazing part about the whole Wacken 2013 show is Floor only had about 6 months to learn All of these songs and she did it all while finishing out the Imaginerium Tour. I was at the show in Denver the night Anette left the band. That night all the vocals where sung by Elize Ryd (Amaranthe/Kamelot) and backed by Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy/Kamelot). The next show in WA they had Floor on set.

      @@TankTheTech Yes it's way to early in your NW journey to tackle either TPatP or TGSoE. You should at least get a dozen more other NW songs under your belt, before reacting to either of those.

    • @korvkioskshelvete
      @korvkioskshelvete 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      TankTheTech Good choice. TGSOE is one of the big three along with ”Ghost Love Score” and ”The Poet and the Pendelum”. You need to know background on the last one aswell. For TGSOE you should always pick the Tampere version. There is one with lyrics. It’s their most expensive performance to date. The song is about evolution. From the Big Bang until the end of mankind. It is beautifully narrated by Richard Dawkins (one of Tuomas heroes). The song shares it’s title with a book by Dawkins. Tuomas has studied biology and science. His other heroes are Charles Darwin, Carl Sagan and Eugene Shoemaker. The entire album ”Endless Forms Most Beautiful” is a concept album about evolution, with TGSOE his most advanced composition yet. Their new album ”Human. :|: Nature.” is like a sequel to EFMB and is a concept album about humans and our planet. Both albums are very cinematic and has elements of celtic folk music (Hey Troy!). But you should begin with the songs from Wacken.

    • @Amaranthos2
      @Amaranthos2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TankTheTech Yessir good man on holding off, TGSOE and Poet & the Pendulum are like the peak culmination / core heart of the band and therefore of us, The Army, as well. Much research and experiencing their other stuff is required first xD
      Also fair warning, back to the whole "rockin" bit. While both these masterpieces absolutely do have very heavy melt-your-face-off sections...if you miss the lyrics you miss the experience, if you miss the background research you miss the experience, if you don't go into them like you're watching a movie instead of a "song," you miss the experience. No pressure :D

    Your enthusiasm earned you a follow. It's fun to rediscover this band together with someone else. I agree with other comments, go the unusual route and check out Weak Fantasy from Tampere (Kai Hahto, the new drummer) or 7 days to the wolves from Wembley for some true kick-ass songs.
    And give Jukka, the drummer here some love. He beats those drums like they're his ex wife but he's got soul! Almost every song requires a proper workout and he just does it with a smile. Kai Hatho, the new drummer, is called 'the human metronome' by some and that's true too. Incredible technician.
    And Tuomas, what a genius to write songs to make everybody shine like that!
