Been using these for the past 18 months and its the best experience for solo lap swimming. If they can combine the Magic 5 custom fit with the Form display - it’ll be a do everything set of goggles. Another plus, they’re constantly pushing new firmware updates and features, so they keep getting better!
The ability to focus solely on your technique and NOT on what number lap you’re on, as an endurance athlete, is enough to justify the price imo. The fact that it can sense when you’re resting and it’s literally hands free once you press start, no matter what you’re workout is, is also amazing.

I have had these goggles for over a year now. Good fit. Good data. No button presses at the end of lengths or intervals. A little concerned that the length time for the first length of a set is faster than I would expect but it settles after to consistent times. Outdoors needs a Garmin 945 or equivalent to pair (perhaps an apple as an alternative?). I have the Ploar HR as well which is great. So, I like 'em, just need to understand if I am silly fast for the first 25m or do the goggles time to a different point in the turn?
Thank you for your feedback and for bringing this to our attention, Stephen! We're happy to hear you love your goggles. The goggles timer starts based on the time the swimmer pushes off the wall and it is not unusual that the first length at the start of a swim or after a rest is a bit faster. However, our machine learning team is always conducting testing to ensure we are the most accurate we can be with our swim metrics. For open water swimming, the goggles can be connected to a compatible Garmin or Apple Watch.
Used mine for several months in pool. Pros: Metrics are great and pretty accurate! Lots of setting options. Company is good and responsive. Cons, I get a small leak always right eye, vision clarity not great. Expensive and I have $19 goggles that seal much better with better vision. Like all goggles anti fog wears away, will get scratches etc so not like just throw away & get another cheap pair. Still, I like tracking my distance etc so I don’t have to think about it. I use them every time time 6 days a week as a middle aged fitness swimmer.
Thank you for your feedback! It's great to hear you love the metrics the goggles provide. We're really sorry that the goggles are leaking. We recommend to try all nose bridge sizes and adjusting the strap to find the best combination between nose bridge and strap tension, as well as wearing the lens on both sides to see which side works best. Should you still have problems with leaking, please contact our support team, they will be happy to help. You can reach them through our contact us page here: formswim.com/contact-us We recommend not to touch the insides of the lenses to preserve the anti-fog coating. @@FORMswim again impressed at the response. I’ve replied to other review videos & chatted with form customers service with much more detail & form always replied. Thanks for reviewing these! I've been using a pair since December and they're awesome! Can you share what metrics you have on the swim, turn, and rest displays?
I used them for awhile but actually stopped since. The tunnel vision is a huge turn off for me, they also need an indoor and outdoor version. I also got tired of the splits being inconsistent, maybe it’s just my swimming style. It’s a great starting point.

1. How to you deal with different lighting scenarios? I use clear goggles for the pool, dark mirror for sunny open water swims and there is something in between for outdoor cloudy or early mornings. Do I need three of these? :) 2. I don't swim that much and still I go through 1-2 googles per year (I typically throw them away when anti-fog solutions stop working). It's one thing when the goggles are $20-$35 a pair. When they are $200 -- that's whole another story.
You can buy a replacement google lens on the FORM homepage (-> Support -> Replacement Parts). You can buy actually any replacement part except the computer itself. Which makes probably sense, because this is probably the most expensive part and then it's probably cheaper or makes more sense to buy new goggles.

is the pacing data 'real time'? e.g. if I start to kick half way down a lane or change my head position or where I enter with my hand etc would the pacing data update to reflect that straight away so I can easily see what I should keep doing. I sometimes 'feel' like I'm going faster when I try certain things but don't really have the proof to go with it, you only have to miss pausing watch at end of lane by 1 sec and you think nothing has changed
Thank you for your question, Benjamin. In the pool, pace is not real-time but shown as an average to swim 50 or 100 meters or yards and is displayed for the last length or the current interval. In a non-partner swim spa, you can use the goggles to track and display swim time and your real time stroke rate. We were able to partner with Hydropools so that users of these pools and our goggles can see distance while they swim by selecting the speed of the swim spa current. We recognize that there are many brands of swim spa available and we unfortunately are not able to partner with them all. Each pool has its own features and speed settings which means that the goggles would need to be programmed for each make and model available. We have had great feedback from our swimmers that even seeing time and real time stroke rate (which is what you can see when using a non-partner swim spa) is an invaluable addition to the swim experience. You can find more information on our site here: support.formswim.com/hc/en-us/sections/1500000203642.
Thank you for your question! While the app won’t give you a notification when you have improved your times, you can view an in-depth breakdown of your swims.
Form's accuracy is better than most swimming watches in pool. Pairing it with a Polar heart rate sensor, I can monitor my heart rate real time, which is a unique advantage and superior to any watch. I as a swimmer at the age of 60 something don't swim without it.
It looks like FORM is currently pushing the goggles a lot in the social media. Seen already 2 (very good, e.g. former comp.) swimmers (and social media active) in my pool using (partly sponsored) FORM goggles. Which was good for me, since I wouldn't pay the price, if I wouldn't be sure, that the goggles would fit. Amazon had a good deal + free shipping, so I gave it a try. My final thoughts for freestyle in the pool: very accurate regarding distance and time. As accurate as Garmin Swim and GS2, which imho are the best swim watches re accuracy and data (the old GS is imo in a few occasions slightly more accurate than GS2). I need them especially for distance tracking and timing. I need all the oxygen for swimming, cannot count at the same time the laps and the strokes 😂 Big (?) difference when it comes to stroke count per length. Also big variation from length to length. Maybe my turns (or something else) is not good enough. In the past I counted occasionally the strokes and compared them with the data from GS/GS2. GS/GS2 seems to be pretty accurate (especially GS). To be honest, I couldn't believe from the very beginning, that the stroke count could be very accurate. If you understand how such devices are working, it's almost impossible to get an accurate stroke count if the device is not attached to the wrist. And finally the vision/visibility: it took me 2k to fully get used to it. Now it's not better, but I got used to it. Luckily I was alone in my lane when I swam for the first time with the goggles. The undisturbed field of view is very restricted. Like a tunnel. The most annoying thing is the disturbed vision around the "tunnel". At the beginning it's pretty confusing. I can imagine that some people can loose the orientation or get even "sea sick". Not the case with me, but I messed 2x the turns, because I thought, the T is closer than it really was. Fogging: imo they seem to be slightly better than other new goggles. What's interesting (and actually very easy to explain): the lens with the display is not fogging at all. Only the lens without display. Which can be pretty weird until you close the eye on the display side. It seems like the human brain "deactivates" the eye with blurry view and uses only the one with crisp vision in such cases. Until at some point you realize that something is unusual. Imo the main benefits are the timing (if you want to keep the same pace / a particular pace each length) and the realtime stroke rate (only for freestyle). Re the stroke rate I'm not so sure, since I'm pretty sure, that the stroke count is not very accurate, which imo must be somehow related to the stroke rate. Would I buy it again? Probably yes, because otherwise I wouldn't have my own experience. Trying the goggles for 1-2 lengths is not the same. Do they make you a better swimmer? No, but they can motivate tech-savvy swimmers. (Former) comp. swimmers don't need them for sure. If you swim 5-6 days a week in a swimming club since you are 6-7yo, you know exactly how fast you are and how many strokes/len you needed. Without clocks, without watches, without ... This is at least what I found out watching the swimmers from the local swimming club.

Not sure about these. I would guesstimate most people have problems with their watch GPS accuracy in open water, I've had 6 Garmin models and all of them have had accuracy issues and as the goggles use the GPS from your watch, this makes them pretty much useless in open water. I like the idea of them for the pool, although I have my watch set for a time alert to keep me on pace - e.g 42s per lap, if it goes off too soon I know to pick up the pace. And I'm a princess about the type of goggles I wear as well. Would love to try them out, however.
Can you please film with these or gopro a persons own view freestyle swimming with good technique? that would give some advices how it should look, becouse it is difficult to imagine from videos above swimmers etc. Thanks!
I know you said you don’t suggest youth swimmers because of coaching on deck. What about self practice at pool for the youth age group competitive swimmers? Wouldn’t this google offer some extra coaching? I have 2 youth competitive swimmers, and I’m always looking for ways to help them get better. Love to hear your thoughts.
Sorry last question, what about if you can’t flip turn and you stop at the wall, then Waite 10 seconds and push off and go, does it know when you stopped and started again…. I know the Apple Watch does that real well
Yes, the goggles automatically detect when you swim, turn and rest. So no need to press any buttons, just swim. The goggles also register touch turns if flip turns are not your thing.
I love my form swim goggles. I’ve used them heaps in the pool and a few times in open water in ‘goggles only’ mode - both work GREAT. However, I tried connecting them with an Apple Watch for an open water swim this weekend just gone and it never worked. I followed all of Form’s suggestions to a tee (wait for strong gps, make sure goggle computer and watch are on same side of body, etc), and it just never worked for me. Has anyone else had the same problems? Or are others getting them to work well in open water with a (compatible) smart watch? I’d love to see the live pace
The goggles don’t give off a sound to indicate your pace, however, you can monitor pace, distance, time, number of lengths, stroke rate and more in the goggles display as you swim.
The FORM goggles are able to detect the following four strokes: Breaststroke, Butterfly, Backstroke, Freestyle. The goggles use head movement to track your swims. When swimming with equipment like fins, head movement is limited and therefore, the goggles can misidentify it. We recommend to use the goggles' Drills Mode when performing skill based training or when swimming with equipment like fins.
Thank you for your question, Bojan! In open water, the goggles track your time and real time stroke rate. For distance related metrics in open water, the goggles can be connected to a compatible Garmin or Apple Watch. In this case, the swim is tracked on the watch and displayed in the goggles. While a map or headings can’t be seen in the lens of goggles, swimmers can track their precise GPS distance, pace, and more, while in open water. My understanding is they are not accurate in the open water - which is when I'd find them most useful. When you were discussing accuracy, I assume that only pertains to pool swimming?
For open water you just pair with your swim watch with gps and it acts as a heads up display for your watch. Can’t tell you if you’re swimming off course, but distance time stroke rate is all there.
We might be biased but we would say the goggles are pretty accurate. We have thousands of happy swimmers and over 100 highly rated reviews on our site. We also have a 45-day return policy if you want to try them out. In open water, the goggles can be used on their own or connected to a compatible Garmin or Apple Watch, as @Alasdair McKenzie and @tito kolai have mentioned. You would also be able to review your average stroke rate and calories in the workout summary after you saved your swim. Connected to a compatible smartwatch, the swim is tracked by the watch and displayed in the goggles. At first I was very disappointed. I hate significant drag they create, especially when you kick off the wall. After they spent few month in a drawer I finally started using them open water. This is because I failed with pacing in an open water competition. Real time stroke rate helped me a lot with pacing.
Unfortunately, they did not work for me. I felt blind in one eye. I almost crashed into the wall several times and had to stop doing flip turns because the view looking forward it was hard for me to judge distance. I like the premise and I liked looking at my time per length, total time, distance etc, but I could not get over the field of view.
We're very sorry to hear that you had issues with the visibility with the goggles. Rest assured, you can disable the display screen so that the metrics won't display while you swim, however, the Rest screen will still show. If you are allowed to wear Form Goggles for a swim race in order to correct your erratic direction, then I should be allowed to wear flippers to make up for my smaller feet. This is so much bullsh*t.
You can reach them through our contact us page here: formswim.com/contact-us
We recommend not to touch the insides of the lenses to preserve the anti-fog coating. The goggles don't require any cleaning other than rinsing them in clean water and letting them air dry after use.
@@FORMswim again impressed at the response. I’ve replied to other review videos & chatted with form customers service with much more detail & form always replied. Yes, I tried all suggestion, display orientation on both eyes, all nose bridges etc. I need literally a millimeter more gasket to seal my right eye better. And yea anti fog… I know😉 Still using them 👍 hoping a version 2 will fit even better and better visibility then they will be perfect. Thanks
@@Farmington_River_Rods Thank you again for your feedback! We're sorry to hear the goggles are still leaking a bit after trying our troubleshooting steps. We'll make sure to pass your feedback about the eye seal size on to our design team. Please let us know if you have any more questions or feedback, we're always happy to help.
I've used mine twice so far. I like the goggles. My only criticism is the lack of peripheral visibility, and the tendency to leak when I dive or jump into the pool. I probably won't use these goggles when I race, but I look forward to using them when I train.
I forgot to mention that on the video, can’t really dive with them on because of how far they come out and I wouldn’t race with them either
Thank you for your feedback, Steven! We’re happy to hear you like the goggles so far. We’ve passed you feedback about the peripheral vision on to our product team.
We're sorry to hear your goggles are leaking when diving into the pool. The goggles work best when you push off the wall, and we don’t officially recommend diving with them.
I've had form goggles for 3 years and they're amazing! They're the best thing since sliced bread
How is battery life and lifespan of lenses? Expect to replace them in a year?
Thank you for your questions. The battery can last up to 16 hours between charges. The goggles are made using industry-leading manufacturing processes and high-grade materials, including FDA-certified silicone eye seals and the same chemical-resistant anti-fog technology used in diving masks, so they are really durable. We have replacement parts available in case you loose or break a part, and the goggles are also covered under our one year limited warranty.
Great review. I’ve been using off and on for a year. Only thing I would have hit on a little bit more as a con is you can’t see anything peripheral even when doing freestyle.
Thank you for your feedback! Most swimmers get used to the goggles after a couple of swims but we will make sure to pass your feedback on to our product team.
Do these work if you dont do a flip turn. Im an Ironman Age grouper and dont use flip turns.
Yeah, they’d work fine without the flip turn.
Matt's right, the goggles also work if you don't do flip turns.
Data is ideal, only showstopper for me is the peripheral sight which is impacted. It's maybe just me, but i don't like the mid to topview which has some streaming effect combined with limited view which causes me to raise my head too much, which is quite distracting compared to my favorite clear goggles. Probably something to get adapted to,...
Thank you for your feedback! Some swimmers report that it takes a couple of swims to get used to the experience with the goggles but we will make sure to pass your feedback on to our product team.
Do they come with prescription lenses?
Thank you. Consistently great information and encouragement!
Thanks for reviewing these! I've been using a pair since December and they're awesome! Can you share what metrics you have on the swim, turn, and rest displays?
I usually have it on the 'Pace' setting so I see cumulative time, 50m spilts after each turn and SPM
We're happy to hear you love your goggles!
I used them for awhile but actually stopped since. The tunnel vision is a huge turn off for me, they also need an indoor and outdoor version. I also got tired of the splits being inconsistent, maybe it’s just my swimming style. It’s a great starting point.
Thank you for your feedback, Caleb! We’re sorry to hear you feel like the goggles don’t work for you. Most swimmers get used to the goggles after a couple of swims but we will make sure to pass your feedback on to our product team.
The goggles use machine learning technology to track your swims and most of the very few errors in the data collection are captured and corrected when you sync the goggles to the FORM Swim App. Our machine learning team is also constantly working on improving the accuracy of the goggles algorithm. If you feel like the goggles have incorrectly tracked a swim, please reach out to our support team at formswim.com/contact-us and they will be happy to assist.
1. How to you deal with different lighting scenarios? I use clear goggles for the pool, dark mirror for sunny open water swims and there is something in between for outdoor cloudy or early mornings. Do I need three of these? :)
Thank you for your questions, Lev!
1. The goggles are slightly tinted for comfort and the display brightness can be adjusted.
2. The goggles are designed to be really durable, however, most parts of the goggles are replaceable in case you loose or break a part. Replacement parts are available for purchase on our website.
Please let us know if you have any other questions about our goggles and we'd be happy to share more information!
They're awesome for pool laps. I am the kind of guy who easily looses track of swam meters; that and tracking times for intervals, an absolute win. Only concern is their durability and spare parts availability.

is the pacing data 'real time'? e.g. if I start to kick half way down a lane or change my head position or where I enter with my hand etc would the pacing data update to reflect that straight away so I can easily see what I should keep doing. I sometimes 'feel' like I'm going faster when I try certain things but don't really have the proof to go with it, you only have to miss pausing watch at end of lane by 1 sec and you think nothing has changed
Excellent Question!!! I would love to know for open water a live speed/pace so you could adjust your stroke accordingly..
It’s not real time, only based on the previous lap so you won’t be able to make a technique change amd see the results until the end of the lap
Thank you for your question, Benjamin. In the pool, pace is not real-time but shown as an average to swim 50 or 100 meters or yards and is displayed for the last length or the current interval.
The goggles automatically track when you’re swimming, turning and resting, so no need to hit that pause button.
Please let us know if you have any other questions about our goggles as we'd be happy to share more information!
@@djokovic1747 Thank you for your feedback. In open water with a compatible smartwatch, pace is displayed as an average for the whole workout and updates in real-time.

Hi, how is the precisioin in SwimSpas, can I receive stroke count or / and distance? (Wellis Danube) Thanx
@effortlessswimming how was Form in open water? Does it affect sighting?
Also on the form app, do they automatically update your times and when they get better. Like my swim pro does
Thank you for your question! While the app won’t give you a notification when you have improved your times, you can view an in-depth breakdown of your swims.
Can these track open swim distance if you swim breaststroke?
How come it doesn't read for 50m? I try the custom setting, and it only goes up to 37.5m. Help! What am I doing wrong?
Are there any UK discounts please?
Our discount link will work in whichever country you purchase
Do these show accurate distance when you are using a snorkel? Does it count on you turning your head to breathe?
Form's accuracy is better than most swimming watches in pool. Pairing it with a Polar heart rate sensor, I can monitor my heart rate real time, which is a unique advantage and superior to any watch. I as a swimmer at the age of 60 something don't swim without it.
Thank you for your feedback, Paul! We're happy to hear you like your goggles.
I need all the oxygen for swimming, cannot count at the same time the laps and the strokes 😂
Big (?) difference when it comes to stroke count per length.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback, Jason! We have passed it on to our product team as we’re always working on improving the swim experience.
We’ve designed the goggles so swimmers of all levels can have a better experience in the pool. The goggles have the same chemical-resistant anti-fog technology used in diving masks. The anti-fog will last longer, too, if you avoid touching the inside of the lens so as not to disrupt the coating.
Please let us know if you have any other questions about our goggles and we'd be happy to share more information!
They're so nice to have when you are swimming laps by yourself without a coach.
Great video. You should try and review the Phlex Edge.
is this realtime display though?
I love my form swim goggles. I’ve used them heaps in the pool and a few times in open water in ‘goggles only’ mode - both work GREAT. However, I tried connecting them with an Apple Watch for an open water swim this weekend just gone and it never worked. I followed all of Form’s suggestions to a tee (wait for strong gps, make sure goggle computer and watch are on same side of body, etc), and it just never worked for me. Has anyone else had the same problems? Or are others getting them to work well in open water with a (compatible) smart watch? I’d love to see the live pace
We're sorry to hear about this. Please reach out to our support team at formswim.com/contact-us and our team will be happy to assist you.
Do they recognise what swim stroke you are doing?
Yes they do, very accurate with detecting the right stroke too
Thank you for your question. Yes, the goggles can detect freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly.
Can this goggles replace the tempo beeping device, i am not talking about the goggles beeping but is any type of tempo signal ??
The goggles don’t give off a sound to indicate your pace, however, you can monitor pace, distance, time, number of lengths, stroke rate and more in the goggles display as you swim.
Why not Fins?
Are dolphin kicks counted as strokes?
The FORM goggles are able to detect the following four strokes: Breaststroke, Butterfly, Backstroke, Freestyle. The goggles use head movement to track your swims. When swimming with equipment like fins, head movement is limited and therefore, the goggles can misidentify it. We recommend to use the goggles' Drills Mode when performing skill based training or when swimming with equipment like fins.
How do they work in OWS if they don't have GPS? How's mapping gonna work?
Thank you for your question, Bojan! In open water, the goggles track your time and real time stroke rate. For distance related metrics in open water, the goggles can be connected to a compatible Garmin or Apple Watch. In this case, the swim is tracked on the watch and displayed in the goggles. While a map or headings can’t be seen in the lens of goggles, swimmers can track their precise GPS distance, pace, and more, while in open water.
Please let us know if you have any other questions about our goggles and we'd be happy to share more information!
Are the googles useless without the subscription?
Thank you for your question. The goggles can still be used for tracking your swims and analyzing them in the app after you have cancelled the membership. However, to use our Workouts feature, a membership is be needed.
My understanding is they are not accurate in the open water - which is when I'd find them most useful. When you were discussing accuracy, I assume that only pertains to pool swimming?
Haven’t tried in the open water, but I think use your watch GPS so wouldn’t it matter how accurate that was?
@@EffortlessSwimming would be great if you could compare GPS to b goggles in open water data collection
For open water you just pair with your swim watch with gps and it acts as a heads up display for your watch.

Great review!! Can you use them in Ironman races?
Yes. Don’t see why not. Nothing more than a watch.
Yes, I wore them in 70.3 Hawaii - interesting seeing the impact of the current……1:40’s with the current, 2:20+ on the way back into the current and swell!!

@@mtimbroims I have a quick glance every now and again, it only takes a second
At first I was very disappointed. I hate significant drag they create, especially when you kick off the wall. After they spent few month in a drawer I finally started using them open water. This is because I failed with pacing in an open water competition. Real time stroke rate helped me a lot with pacing.
Thank you for your feedback, Dominik!
Does anyone know if these goggles give direction for open swim?
Those of us who are naturally, or are trained, to swim straight have a natural advantage. If you are using technology to negate that than I should be allowed to do the same. I fundamentally disagree with my last statement, just as I fundamentally disagree with using Form Goggles to correct your waywardness.
