    One of the best demo's I have seen of the RX5. I myself have the RX15. Nice one.

    ... programming this is basically like the physical game Twister for hands ... (!) Had mine for yonks, superb 80's classic drum machine. Cheers for the UL!

    I come back to this every day now. Love the way he got the toms to follow the kick.

      You got the bargain of a lifetime. I would pay a grand for a mint RX5. Nothing on this earth better. In drum machineville. Linndrums and 808s are way overrated.

    Although I've realized that I'm not that big a fan of drum sequencing or loops, I have always loved the sounds themselves. I appreciate owning a Yamaha DTX Multi 12, which has many of the RX5's samples uploaded to its memory

    It's always fun to see if you identify any artists that have used the machine in question.

      Zachary Berry I'm positive this is the exact model prince used for sign o the times as well as salt n pepa push it

    • @zibbybone
      @zibbybone 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      "Sign 'O The Times" is Linn LM-1 and "Push It" is Emu SP-12.

    • @MusicFed
      @MusicFed 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think so

    • @zibbybone
      @zibbybone 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fed, all you have to do is read the Wiki:
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sign_o%27_the_Times

    • @zibbybone
      @zibbybone 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, Hurby "Luv Bug" Azur's main drum machine in the 80s was the SP-12. Most of the synth sounds on "Push It" are factory presets on the CZ-1000 / CZ-101.

    Great video. I just recently bought one of these myself in the hopes to make some John Carpenter style film scores. I found the rare Jazz/fusion data cassette, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to load the cassettes sounds into the rx5. I noticed you have a cassette in yours, could you possibly make a demo of how to load these sounds? It would help me a tremendous amount as the cassette and drum machine are currently just a paperweight with only factory sounds.

    Love this live jam, re you still using it? What are thought so far? I want to get the cheesy sound and really use the box as it is. I can get one for 260€ fair price? 315$ , not sure if thats a fair price..

    • @zap_danger
      @zap_danger  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! Yeah I still use it off and on, I got the RX5USB card which lets you give it custom samples. By default it comes with a 909 kit which is very lofi, sounds great. I'm not sure I'd still be hanging on to it if I didn't have the RX5USB. That price seems reasonable I think. I wanna say they've stayed in the $200-300 range for quite some time, but I think they'll go up eventually

      @Zap Danger I’d just gotten a RX5 USB and when I went to use the included samples, both banks sounded corrupted. I tried to switch them for the included Linn samples and those sounded even more corrupted and worse. Should I just keep trying or is there something specific I need to do?
      Excellent video, by the way.
      And the Instagram post too! Great work.

    • @huntergalloway3944

      By switching to the Linn samples, I mean I used the program that was included.

    Great video. Best thing I learnt was the clear function on the fly that's gonna be really helpful.
    Is there anyway to change the pitch of the hit while a pattern is playing? It would be great if the data knob had a use while jamming

      Unfortunately not that I know of. I agree it'd be a great thing to have

    Have you ever tried the external clock out into a pre midi synth?
    I tried with a sh-101 and it did not work well. I got a load of very fast notes from the 101 when playing the rx-5..

  • @botany500kojak
    @botany500kojak 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Anyone know how to just send clock (MIDI) to a synth?
    I tried to clock a BS2 and Volca Bass and the RX5 just acts a a sequencer with them.
    I looked in the manual and could not find anything.
    Cheers.

      @CKT1138 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go to the midi menu, job 3, switch all the drums output channels to a channel that isn't utilized by any synth you're using.
      I just tested this, and it does retain the setting in memory!

    great demo! quick question: it looks like individual sound volumes (BD, snare, etc) can be controlled independently using the sliders, even when just one master out cable is being used? (i.e., you don't have to use all the individual outputs into a mixer to have control over volumes?)

    Why cant i get mine where I tap a beat but it only plays back 1 tap at a time...like the first few seconds in this video I cant do that as it wont play back the way I tap it. What am I doing wrong? A setting? So instead of say taptap-taptap-tap that I play...it plays back as tap -tap -tap
    Help!

    • @zap_danger
      @zap_danger  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you're in Real Time mode. You usually have to press it when it's stopped, then make sure the LCD says "Real Time", then hit Start.
