Awesome channel! I have done two 5vze swaps into a 93 4runner, and a 1990 extra cab truck. Love those engines! Now I have a 1 uzfe from a 94 ls400 with an r150f trans and the KS bell housing/clutch assembly. I used the longer pivot bolt. Gonna have to do some creative exhaust pipes to clear the clutch slave cylinder. Overall I can't wait to get my truck on the road. It's a 68 international Travelette with Chevy axles, I also did a rear disc brake conversion.
Love this content! I have the 3vze in my 1990 pickup. I was planning to swap for the 3.4 5vz-fe with a super charger. But now I’m wondering if I should also go 1uz? I don’t off road, mainly just looking for a power boost and great reliability. Would love to hear what you think. Thanks!!
Man I just found your channel and I feel like i just hit a gold mine, I picked up a 89 4runner last year and have been mulling over the right v8 Toyota engine i wanna put into her, aluminum block, lexus 1uz seems to be the move!
I have had a lot of trucks in my life, fords, chevys, dodge, Nothing compares to Toyota, like an idiot when i was younger i sold my 83 pickup , I had put a ton of work into that truck , frame off to clean , which i didnt have a shop at the time i did it all in the woods behind my grandparents house , i lifted the cab off the frame using a couple come a longs attached to giant tree limbs, when it came time to pressure wash ,clean strip frame and weld i had put the frame on an old boat trailer a friend had and took it to the bus company i used to work at, put it up on a few saw horse's and went to work ,plated the whole frame inboard and out with 3/16 steel also plated the bottom on the flat section from about the front of the door to the leaf spring mount , then i painted it with two part epoxy, At the same time i was rebuilding the diffs front and rear, all new bearings , gaskets ,Installed set of 4.88 gears , i had planned a locker for the rear but time and funds were running thin, i figured i could always do it later, like the frame everything got a coat of gloss black 2 part epoxy, i ordered front and rear 6" lift leaf springs with poly bushings, i had seen where a truck had leaf spring bolts that had grease fittings to grease the bushings, I ended up making my own i drilled down the center of the bolt with 1/8" bit then drilled 2 or 3 holes thru the sides tapped the head for a grease fitting so now the bushings were greasable , it worked out awesome allowed everything to move freely no bind on the bushings, after i installed the springs and the rearend housings i also used a 3" body lift to help with a little extra clearence ,i used a 5 speed trans with a centerforce clutch setup, which was an awesome setup super smooth and the higher the rpm the more those clamp due to the weights setup on the fingers, i rebuilt the original 22r, at the machine shop cant remember how much but a slight shave on the head and a valve job , used the rv camshaft for increased low end tourqe, Got lucky and found a header at the local junkyard while i was there looking for interior parts, then built a 2 1/2 exhaust all the way to the rear bumper , i didnt use a muffler at all just straight pipe, it ended up sounding bettter than i thought it would, on the intake and head i gasket matched all the ports, for a carb i cant remember the model but i used a weber 2 barrel ,, for tires a went with interco super swamper 36/12,50/15s , man those tires were loud you could hear me coming a mile away, lol , on the interior i had a set of recaro race bucket style seats , when first started to get ready for body work i was talking with my cousin looking at the truck and said to him ( i wish i could recline the seats back a little more) you couldnt because it was hitting the back of the cab , then i said to him ( you know what i was thinking, i was going to cut off the rear wall of cab then cut 6" off the rear of another canb i had and weld it on, ) he said dont be a pussy do it lol , next thing you know i had a jigsaw in mh hand cutting the back wall off lol, so i did it i added tge 6" to rear of the cab, and it came out so good that people would just look at it and say is there something different about this truck, lol , i had the only 1983 toyota extracab pickup, well i wrote enough of a book here ,but in the end i still regret selling that 83 even though i got pretty good cashola for it at the time, Ive replaced it now with a 98 tacoma 4x4 5 speed thats coming along , ive already lifted it 3" and have plans for a straight axle frontend and either radius arm rear or 4 link , ive already built custom front and rear bumpers , and a skid plate the ties into front bumper and goes all the way past transfer case,
When can i drop off my 3rd gen 4runner for that swap. I had an 04 runner with the v8 loved the power till it got totaled. 3.4 is way slow compared to 4.7. Great work by the way.
Hey im trying to get my lexus 4.0 1uz running in the car b4 pulling it its a 93...im not getting spark but it will crank...any sensor i need to check that kills spark?
Wish I could get my hands on a Toyota , there just so pricey so I’ll have to stick with my 02 liberty build , I know not ideal but the unit was given to me by the old man for free.
There's nothing wrong with the liberty as a daily, but you'll be disappointed trying to convert it into a wheeling rig. Toyota prices are also disappointing. Toyotas are great, there's lots of other platforms that are great too though. If I were you, I'd keep the liberty stock and buy something that isn't a toyota taxxed pile of rust for a lot cheaper and start there. A body on frame 1500 single cab short bed, Nissans, blazers/broncos/ramchargers, jeeps. I currently own a Toyota truck, but prior to it I had a jeep and bronco of similar age and options and though I love my toyota, I also bought it when they were cheaper and wouldn't repeat my purchase at current prices.
@@robogooglecantstopme9181 well I’ve already got a 5 inch lift , some of it custom made, locker in the rear , rock sliders and currently working on bumpers.
Hey I had a neighbor back in the 80's that had an 84 Toyota 5 speed 4wd and he bought a kit that allowed him to put a 350 Chevy motor in it and let me tell you that truck ran it's ass off 👍🏿👍🏿
Thanks for posting 👍 Your truck has come a long ways, I’m so happy to see that the Phoenix has risen from the ashes! Good work 🙂
Hey! It’s Mike. Love your builds!
@@SlipperzYT Right on! Thanks I really appreciate it 🙂

Dude props to you for keeping the truck and starting again from scratch. I don’t know that I could’ve continued after such a huge setback.
Thank you! It was definitely hard, but glad I saw it through. Love the truck more than ever now.
Heck of a project 🤯 great work!

Do it up! Love the 1UZ power! And keeping it all Toy is a bonus.
How’s the power different between the 1UZ compared to the supercharged 3.4?

I like how you paint your welds before to you show them 🤭
Of course. And texture painted.
Ive got a supercharger for a camary or Solara TRD 3.0

How do you get the math from the final relationship in my 4runner case that the low is 2.57 and my differential is 4.88 and the first 3.92
1st gear X Low Range X Differential Ratio. So in your case 3.92x2.57x4.88 = 49.16
@@DirtGarage thanks
Not sure why you flipped to the new DG logo.
I'm still partial to the previous one.
makes me miss my 88!
A fighting story to the v8
What's the benefits from switching from a 3.4 L to a 1UZ ? Is it torque?
Torque, HP. Much better highway drivability, and better fuel economy.
What a BEAST!!!! Great job!!
It's imposible for you to get for example a diesel 1kz? Because that thing it's a torque monster
