Probably not even that much considering his age, the volume of his repertoire, and the fact that he went to Harvard. I've been watching George since he was about 9 years old and even then he had the technique of an experienced adult.

Jacob Tan Near the end of the piece, Liszt writes in the option to play a cadenza. A cadenza is a short passage near the end of a musical work that is traditionally improvised on themes from the music by the soloist. In this case, Sergei Rachmaninoff put his passage to paper for future musicians to play. George Li is playing this cadenza where called for in the music by Liszt. It begins at 3:40 and concludes at 5:34.
@@youtubeepicuser4209 no one ever improvises a cadenza. Some might claim they would, but no one, not even the biggest geniouses of our time would walk out in a concert hall filled with thousands of people and would improvise. They compose and spend month of hard practicing their compositions...
Excellent performance. I am certain that he dedicated double the practice hours for the slow part in the middle. Just insane coordination and musicality is needed.
was wondering the same thing...he is a genius if it's his own ...I really like it...at first i thought that was how the piece was but when I saw Lisitsa playing it it wasn't like this one...we need to know!
I think Listisa plays her own interpretation as well. This is very close to the original, but again with some interpretations here and there. Check Adam Gyorgy as well, he has a very expressive interpretation.
Anipporelle I've already listened to numerous versions of this repertoire cuz I also play this in my concert, as well as the version of Adam Gyorgy you said. Try listening to Maksim Mrvica's Rhapsody as well, I think you'll like it if you love Adam Gyorgy's version.
Armando Araujo not really hard work to do it if you love it. And those musicians are talented in their own way, writing a hit with clever rhyming lyrics is hard.
His touch is just insane

True...
Like a rapist….
many thousands of hours of dedication and hard work on display for your listening pleasure. All these pros deserve our eternal respect.
Yes
4 years since then so how much have you improved at piano?
Nah, it was just 5 minutes of simply piano bro.
Even thousands of hours of hard work will not help if man does not have a talent endowed by God.
Imagine if people put the thousands of hours that they spend into worthless things into productive things like this. We would be so much cooler.
People do not understand how much time and nerves have been spent on these few few minutes, big respect to this guy!

he has such a good sense of timing, i like where he decides to slow it down, how he exaggerates certain parts with his timing. Good stuff.

This is incredible. He actually knows the piece by heart. And the tempo is amazing.

Damn thats hilarious!
the insane part is that he didn’t made a mistouch on that crazy speed
Amazing! Liszt would love this!
In fact he would hate this, he wrote really complex pieces that he thought, only he could play, he wanted to show off in a way.
