Time-lapse of the Harriet F. Rees House move - Chicago, Illinois

How do you move a 762-ton historic mansion? Very carefully! The Harriet F. Rees House underwent an amazing relocation early this month and it is believed to be the heaviest residential structure moved in U.S. History. The three-story 762-ton Chicago landmark traveled one city block (600 feet) from 2110 S. Prairie Avenue to its new location at 2017 S. Prairie Avenue to make way for the planned McCormick Place Entertainment District. The brick and limestone mansion completed its journey on November 11-12, 2014. It's brick coach house was moved on Oct. 1, 2014. Check out the excitement of this historic move on this time lapse video! It is truly an amazing engineering feat!

It's unfortunate to say is that none of the workers that took part of the reinforcement of the street so I could be structurally safe for the carriage house and the mansion, we excavated it so the rest of the crew's could do their jobs. quality excavation and demolition had a big part of it .I was a part of that I was one of the drivers. There was no mentioning of quality excavation and Andrew bully and wolf Corporation I thank for opportunity to be a part of this historic Chicago move thank you.
