    You guys make this sound so simple.
    I'd like to see the system built from scratch please so I can see how to split and make connections correctly

    i have my diy turn signal as well. i use 2 pin flasher for led i bought online. and i tap it to my 48v ebike battery with a step down voltage to 12v. I purchased a motorbike turn signal switch cheaply, left -rigt switch plus hazard switch in one and that works fine. However, my headlight has its own integrated rechargeable battery because it is 5v, but also thinking of tapping a new 12v headlight soon. And that's how everything works for my ebike. Nice video and wiring diagram 👍

      Thanks Norman! Glad you enjoyed the video. I used 12V parts because of the automotive flasher, tons of options for tail lights, + the use of a 12V tool battery was attractive to me. I could keep them on separate circuits and not affect the range on my bike.

      I recently brought buck converter for my 48v to install motorcycle heated grip, can you tell .e if you were able to somehow connect thr brake to the tail light from controller?? I have brake light from aliexpress but it's not bright at all

    Good video. I'm building an electric motorcycle and I'm probably going to copy this. But I will keep the headlight on all the time. Why didn't you power this from the main battery?

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, hope it helps! I didn't power it from the main battery to maximize range, plus I wanted to isolate the two systems in case something went wrong with a DC-DC converter ... didn't really feel like frying my lights.

    Man I just found your channel and was so excited because I bought a kaabo wolf warrior electric scooter and just needed front and rear turn signals but couldn't find any good help! I tried all your links and they dont work. Maybe you could just answer a couple questions...... if I buy 4 12v motorcycle turn signals and a electric flasher relay can I install the lights to the flasher to a toggle switch to a 12v milwaukee battery? Would it power the flashers fine without any diodes or resistors? I know very little! People are telling me motorcycle flashers that are 12v really need 13-16v's and a 12v milwaukee will not be able to light them up bright enough..... I REALLY HOPE YOU SEE THIS AND CAN HELP...... THIS IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME FOR SAFETY REASONS! THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME!!!!!!

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Eddie, thanks for your comment! That is exactly how I wired my system. I'm sure in the video you can see the schematic I posted. Try and find an "electronic" flasher unit instead of a mechanical one. A mechanical flasher may not work properly with the low draw of LED turn signals. Otherwise it should work just fine just like mine! Keep in mind that cars/motorcycles have batteries too. When the car/motorcycle isn't running, the battery is around 12V, a little higher on a fully charged battery. But if you turn your turn signals on when the car/motorcycle isn't running, they still work! And they will continue to work well below the 12V when the battery starts draining. So the milwaukee battery will also continue to work with the flasher while it drains.

  • @Finnegan6674
    @Finnegan6674 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wish you would have wired into the controller or the main battery That would have been real clean and taken up less space for those of us that have very limited space to mount things ...like I can not use the Milwaukee battery since I have zero room for something that large. I could use this on a pedal bike but not my ebike.

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To wire into the ebike simply replace the M12 battery in my project with a DC-DC converter. Something that will accept your maximum ebike battery voltage. Note that a "48V" battery at full charge is often higher than 48V so check your specs. DC-DC converter should step down to 12V for the accessories I used. Just tap into some power wires from your battery and that's it. Switches / wiring the rest is the same.

  • @ElvynBliss

    Why don't just hook it up to the ebike battery with a step down?

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had originally planned on that (there is actually a cavity in the tail light housing to hold a DIN rail type step down) , then I found that some of the step down converters from 48V to 12V were expensive. I ended up just using the tool battery as I had one laying around. If you, or anyone else were to use this system, you could obviously choose to wire and power it however you wish :)

    Great video.
    I installed a 4-light system on my ebike - high beam x1, low beam x2, and rear x1. I use a 24 volt rechargeable battery. And I have rocker switches installed for the high and low beams.
    when I flip the rocker switches on, the lights function but one of the LED light indicators on the rocker switch always goes out, but the lights stay on. I'm loading too much into one of the rockers, apparently.
    How do regulate the voltage so that the rocker switch indicator LED stays on too? Hope u can help.
