- I've been seeing some videos on weather you should use ND filters or not. Apparently drone cameras aren't set up the same as mirrored cameras. They say if its not really bright sunlight then don't put a filter on. If your filming in 30 FPS set your ISO 100 then set the camera to auto and let the drone do the rest. So this is what i did. please let me know what you think in the comments.

I love watching drone vids over the waters ..great relaxing music
Thank you it's a great location
So calm, clear water. even see the chalk bottom. Stunning footage.
And that's without a polarising filter
@@dwkdrones Makes sense now
Fantastic work ❤
thanks
Nicely done, crisp, clear and peaceful... the water is sooo clear and still... Music works well, cool reflections, especially towards the end... bravo!
Thank you Suzanne this was filmed with no ND filter and in auto
@@dwkdrones brilliant matey.. I usually use AUTO settings myself, the drone is far better in most cases than I am at setting things up, and ND filters are something I only use on the odd occasion - such as a sunset... Looks really good Dave :)
Superb capture of a wonderful location that I must really get along too.
Cheers Keith, yes you must consider it's not that far from you lol
amazing video Dave, we are blessed to live in such a beautiful country.
Thanks yes that Jurassic Coast is truly amazing
Fab ❤
Thanks
Very beautiful footage Dave, I love those cliffs you filmed. Very relaxing music you chose. Well done mate. 👍👌👌
Thank you very much
Wow this is truly outstanding Dave, it could be anywhere in the world! The way you have put this together is just brilliant , from the smooth flying, with the sun reflections on the water to the music which just adds to it! Well done buddy , really enjoyed this one 👍👏👌👏
Thank you very much for your kind comments
What an awesome place to fly. Great video Dave. Looked like a good holiday
Thanks so do you need ND filters?
@@dwkdrones I don’t think so. Looked 👌🏻
Stunning 😍 Beautifully captured. Lovely flight Dave❤
Thank you for your kind words
Very nice. 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks awesome no filters ❤
do you think
Lovely footage Dave from that part of our country, dave the footage looked perfect to me,
Auto rules on a not so bright day, sunny days i put a ND16 oN.👍👍👏😎.
Yes the only thing I could of changed was maybe a Polarising filter
Lovely video Dave. Well composed. Now for the technical bit. There are a few missed frames that are hardly noticeable but this is because the drone is trying to work with the best shutter speed it can as you haven't helped it by not allowing it to know the correct rate. According to your settings above it needs to shoot at 4K/30 you need to set the shutter speed to 60 in manual then turn on auto. the drone will cope better. Also it would bring out more detail in the cliffs and the water and more colour. That's just my opinion. It's a shame you didn't shoot both ways so you could compare them. Still, at the end of the day a nicely composed video.
Hi thanks for watching my video I did notice the dropped frames aswell, my shutter speed was set to 1/60 and my ISO at 100 I then changed over to auto. Yes I wish I'd tried it with a Nd filter on. I have found in the past that I get to much Motion blur especially when flying close. But I actually like the colours and the way the video looks. Thanks for your technical help, maybe I should change to a higher shutter speed?
@@dwkdrones If you set the shutter speed to 1/60 in manual you should then put on the correct ND filter to get a good looking exposure in your controller, then switch to auto. Otherwise the drone will just revert to it's own devices. I'm probably teaching you to suck eggs here! Shooting at 1/60 shouldn't give you any motion blur. The other problem with dropped frames can also be with Davinci. With the Air 3 and Mini 3 I noticed that if set to say 30fps, when I look at the file it actually has recorded at 29.97fps. So if you edit in Davinci at 30 fps you will also get dropped frames. Aaaargh! I have spent several months researching the settings in Davinci, including talking to Blackmagic themselves and have come across a hidden setting that no one mentions but makes the world of difference to the overall experience. Maybe we should do a technical video for DSL similar to what Tony did with Stunning Drone. 😉
I. Here ❤
Yes you are lol
well done mate
Thanks jb
TBH Dave, it is very rare I use a full ND filter. I use a gradient filter most of the time. Sometimes a polarizer when flying over water.
I don't think I'll be using them much anymore
@@dwkdrones Only time I would consider them is really bright days just to slow the shutter speed down. At really high shutter speed the footage can appear brittle. In this location, I would of used a polariser. It would of reduced the reflection of the brilliant white rocks and the still sea
@@dwkdrones The results speak for themselves. I my opinion top notch
Thanks @@mickeytheviewmoo
That see looks so cam
it was very still
