I think this was a good video, however, I cringed at the following: He tasted the orange and didn’t wash his hands before cutting up samples for customers. He isn’t using gloves for anything. He used the knife to cut off plastic wrap.
I loved doing Produce i did it for 4 years . wasn’t very physical, had good co workers , pretty chill environment most of the time . definitely miss it 😢 i left to go Work for Coca Cola
I'm the queen of dealing with what we called the "green rack" or the "wet rack." I can prep greens like nothing else. They are going to make me into a produce manager. Been at my grocery store for almost three years. They love me. I love my job, I bust my butt stocking and making all the produce look perfect. I was going to college for management, but since they offered me a management position, I said hell with it! I'm going to finish out this semester then I'm done. My store pays well also. Some people just don't have it in them to work produce!
I’ve been working produce for a month at my store now, and I still haven’t received training. I get in trouble for being slow, but so far I pretty much had to learn how to do it from a coworker who showed me a few things 15 minutes before the end of his shift. I dread working produce just because of this. I’m definitely searching for a different job whenever the opportunity arises.
Produce worker for a year myself can get fucking boring when there is nothing to stock and when your taking out 1-3 things on a trolley at a time who else can relate to me 👌👍👌👍
Great video but you need to buy a plastic wrap machine with a heating pad. Using a knife to cut the film and taping it together is a huge waste of time. You're not a large chain grocery store so maybe buckets work (limited space) for organic waste but a big bin with wheels would be much easier to transport.
Need you guys to answer my question! I have a back problem that happened years ago. Every time I break the load at my store my back hurts really bad. And the pain won’t go away . Should I keep working produce or should I hang it up. Oh and my store gets big loads .
Nope! I wear gloves personally and some veterans don't use gloves because when culling they can't always feel the bad produce for example broccoli because it's suppose to be hard and crisp but you can't feel it right if it's soggy with gloves. Anyhow rule of thumb with produce is: ALWAYS WASH YOUR PRODUCE. No matter what store you shop at. Produce falls on the floor all the time in the backroom, who knows what happens in shipping from the warehouse and people TOUCH produce 24/7. So it doesn't matter. WASH YOUR PRODUCE!!. I work in produce and I always tell my customers to wash their food. Doesn't matter two shit's if people wear gloves. We only wear gloves to protect our hands etc. Has nothing to do with food and that goes with all food debts. Always wash your food.
I totally agree! I work in produce and we haven't had a hose in a while and not having a hose to water the racks is like.....well it just sucks! A hose in produce is like a writer not having a pen and paper. I agree with you. lol
DenKihl pineapple like most fruit ripen after being picked. When they are growing they have an abundance of acids wich is why a pineapple is bitter when its more green. As it ripens and yellows out the acid levels drop and sugar is more abundant eventually making it sweet.
Then you must have fucked up because I have never heard of a produce person getting fired unless they stole, had massive tardies, massive call outs, or assaulted someone or sexual harassment. What did you do if I may ask? lol
Chun Zhu is it difficult? how long does the training take and how long to learn? I've had impatient managers in the past so I'm quite nervous starting this kinda job
I'm assistant mgr of produce and OMG... I'd send all these red pears back to the warehouse!!! PS.. don't be fooled by the "organic" bullshit sticker. By federal guidelines produce only has to be 25 percent "organic" to consider it organic. I'd never buy or purchase ANY of this produce!!!! its all old and yucky!
Why is it ok for that guy to wear a tank top with all that chest hair? But the lady in the background is wearing a long shirt and apron?
Because fuck you, that's why!

We use one of those machine but we have a small blade that cuts the plastic then we wrap it up after tightening the plastic with a heating pad

Hi. Very good video. This is a very good tutorial for dealing with produces in a store. Thank you both.
Interesting however... cutting way too much off the top of produce makes some of the appearance smaller.
There is so many things wrong in this video...
We would reduce it ........ or........ or..... or... just fucking say you'd toss it out.
Thank you ☺️
