*What did you think? Were you surprised? What do you think the reason is for all the Jewish relatives? And have you or are you planning on doing genetic testing to figure out your ancestry?* I have so many questions. AND IF YOU MISSED PART 1: th-cam.com/video/f2WEszuX4QA/w-d-xo.html This video was so much fun to make! I still have more 23andMe results I can share so let me know if you're interested in those as well. Love you! 💚
Amanda Bicket I'm not too surprised. It makes sense. I really want to do this for myself. I am thinking because many jews have been spread out around the world they want to know where their ancestors are from. I saw you have Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry. My girls have both Ashkenazi and Sephardic. Their grandfather is Ashkenazi and their grandmother is Sephardic.
That makes a lot of sense! I figured if could have had something to do with people of Jewish descent disproportionately purchasing 23andMe but I didn't have an explanation and that is a great one! Thanks for sharing that!
Omg you are jewish! now you have to come to Israel!! 😂❤️and wow, looking at your results, it looks like you are basically all of this world! and that is so cool! maybe this is the reason you like to travel around the world🤔💗
This was such a thorough video. I've seen so many of these ancestry DNA results, but never seen the timeline of when a new grouping/heritage entered your genetic line. That's so cool!
You did such an awesome job of going over the results! I really want to do this even more now! I don't think you have a widows peak because I think it's more about your hair coming to a point on your forehead. Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you Trish! I didn't really know what a widow's peak actually was until I just googled it. Didn't realize it was more of a point than a recession on the sides. You learn something new every day!
I am an Indian. And I have gone through a lot of these kind of videos. But what I concluded is no matter what percentage of South Asian you have, it can be seen right on your face. You can't hide out of the strong race. Anyway your curly hair gives a marvelous look on your Indian face..:)
Thanks for sharing, Amanda. That was sooo interesting. I was surprised you have such a diverse mixture. I never thought to ask you because I just assumed in my head that you would say 50% African, 50% European. But wow! Adding all that with your husbands genetics would make things even more interesting for your daughter hehe. Genetics are really fascinating. Now I'm really keen to get mine done! 🌻💖🌻💖
You're welcome Vina! I know, it's surprising to think about all the mixing that happened! And yeah it's super fascinating. Let me know if you end up doing it! So cool 😄💕
Your mommy looks like my older sister 🤗 I am 53% South Asian, like 2% Chinese, 4% European and 39% African. You look like a mixed version of my (mixed race largely Indian) cousin, with the same disposition. You are such a cute kid 🤗
My results weren’t what I thought either. My grandmother said Native American when we’re actually mixed with European. Only .2% Native American. Who knew? 2% unidentified and 70% west African. I was completely blown away. My traits said I would have straight or wavy hair but I most definitely have mostly 4c hair lol.
I am from Cape Town, South Africa and was classified during Apartheid as a Cape Coloured or sometimes called mixed South African. My results also are very diverse, very similar to yours. I’ve done my test a few months ago and it is as follows: African= 30 % (Central Africa=18%, Khoi-San=7% & East Africa= 5%) European =28% (West European=20% & South European =8%) South Asian/Indian= 17 % Indonesia/Malasian =16% Native American=8% & Chinese= 1%. Cape Coloured are considered the most mixed people on Earth. Here in Cape Town you will be seen as a local as here are quite a few millions people with various mixed heritage.
I'm a South African coloured too and I heard a few other coloureds say they r part native American too.. it's fasnating how it's flipped .. Latinas got more Latin roots than us and alot or some of them r like 2% khoisan and we r more khoisan than them... interesting!
I did the test too, I had genes from everywhere except East Asia and Pacific Islanders. I had a lot of Ashkenazi Jewish relatives on the database - around 400. Then it was people I shared West African ancestry with. I think the groups more likely to take a test are individuals from diasporas e.g. African and Jewish because there’s more mystery to solve. I had a relative that was 99% British and 1% Jewish and I just thought ‘wow what a waste of money!’ Lol
LOL that's so funny! Hopefully they don't see it that way and were super excited about finding out about the 1% Jewish 😂 And that makes sense about the relatives on the database.
Just stumbled across your video and my first thought was that it didn't much matter what your ethnicity was. I just thought you were an attractive, bubbly gal. :) At any rate, you're blessed to have such a lovely variety of ancestors and so glad you got some answers!

Thank you so much! I love Lana so much she is so sweet! I'd love to do some sort of collab or interview or meetup with her at some point because I feel like we talk about a lot of similar things like hair growth, she is so positive, and our curls are definitely very similar! I'll have to figure out how to get in touch with her and see if I can make that happen! 😄💕
Cool! I always wanted to do this even though I’m from Eritrea and I can go back in history with my family for so many generations. I still feel like most Eritrean and Ethiopian are not 100% of African decent judging by facial features, hair texture, skin tone...so it should be interesting can’t wait to do the test with my husband he’s from Mississippi so it should be more of a mystery.
Oh yes I love ancestry DNA videos. I want to do mine to see what I am too maybe I get something interesting. Also I think your mix is awsome, basically you are mixes with everyone 💕
Fun fact about myself..I remember back when I was in beauty school my instructor mentioned to me while she was looking at my head to see how my hair grew out out from the scalp and she said I had a very strong hair growth pattern and to me I had no idea what she meant at the time so I just was like whatever.. I now know what she meant..back then I straighten it all the time so I had no idea what my had in store for me lol my curliversary is on the 15th of this month and I'm just blown away with my results since just going natural.
Did a genealogy search and after looking at 100 yrs of census records found out my great great grandparents were both black... My grandmother was black and Creek Native American from the Creek Reservation in S Alabama. Which meant my father was half Irish and approx 30% black and 20% Native American. I’m blonde hair blue eyed and pale white skin. But growing up everyone commented how my grandmother and dad looked Mexican or some other race. Yet my grandfather was a racist asshole. Still don’t know how much he knew about my grandmothers lineage. Race is a complicated thing.

I love your freckles. I used to have them as a kid and was really attached to them. You should research Hebrew migrations, that could explain all the Jewish relatives. Also, a lot of Africans and Iberians are of mixed Hebrew ancestry. Ibri actually means Hebrew.
Your mom could still be right 😉 These tests only show which DNA went into making the individual; not our families' full heritage. Men are XY ~ they have X matrilineal line from their mother's mother's mother's etc line and the Y patrilineal line of their father's father's father's etc. Women are XX ~ we only get the matrilineal lines from both sides (father's mother's mother etc & mother's mother's mother etc). So, if there is Chinese on your mother's father's branch (Y) or her mother's father's branch (Y), it won't show up in *your* XX DNA; it would likely show up in test results of a male relative on your mom's side (your brother or your mom's brother, your mom's uncle, a male 1st cousin of you or your mom, etc.). 🙂 For example, my male friend knew his Native American great-grandmother when he was little.. but because she was on his father's side (Y), the female Native DNA (X) wasn't in his results-- only his female relatives on his dad's side are seeing Native American in their results.
Very cool! Genetics are so fascinating! I would love if my parents did it, especially my dad since I don't have a brother so he's the only one that would be able to trace the paternal lineage through the y. But good point, I didn't consider that the chinese genes could exist on the sex chromosomes and not only the autosomal chromosomes. And then there's recombination to account for which I mentioned super briefly. Definitely a lot of factors!
Amanda Bicket they test the y chromosome in men to get paternal haplogroup and the mitochondrial DNA to get maternal haplogroup. Heritage is determined by your autosomes.
Literally in the video I showed some of my chromosomes to show the example of how recombination works and one of the chromosomes was my X. They show the regions color coded on my X chromosome. Why would the source of where they sequence the X or Y chromosomes matter, and why do you think that your heritage can't be determined at all by your X chromosomes? I might not be understanding you properly or I am misunderstanding the results they are providing.
Thanks for sharing Laila! I think it would be very insightful! There's also a health part which I didn't share in this video that can help let you know of any genetic disorders, particularly useful for one's coming up later in life like Alzheimer's disease or certain types of cancers like the braca1 gene 😊
I saw you guys under relatives! So cool! I think it'd be so interesting if Kirstie and Katelyn did it too. I wonder how different their results would be!
I've wanted to do one of these tests for years now! You are a nice mix of many things 😁 I'm just a white "mutt" as far as I can tell, with some Native American thrown in. Most people think I look German though. I really want my husband to do one of these tests, too. He's Spanish but looks more Middle Eastern or Greek. It's all so interesting to me! Side note, I never thought of the unibrow thing, and it's kinda true it is beneficial, bc my inner brows are sparse, and I just gotta fill them in and hope for the best.
I know! I remember when I was young people would make fun of people who had more filled in and full brows and I just thought now that it's truly an advantage. Children can be so mean! But yes if you ever do the test let me know what you find out! 💜
Amanda Bicket yes, I think some kids will find something to make fun of in just about anyone...too skinny, too short, too fat, brows too thick, acne,... anything and everything really!
It's true! It's just like they need to have a target to protect them from being the target. But the funny thing is that if everyone was nice no one would bully anyone.
Are both her parents not from the United States or any country of the America's ? If not I would wonder how the Native American would come in , 23%me is not accurate for ancestry, she should try Ancestrydna,it's the better company for dna
Why is she South Asian when that only makes up 22% of her DNA and Europe and Africa make up 23.5 % and 35% of her DNA respectively? Not that these tests are a basis for defining people. She can define herself however she pleases.
I'm too much of a conspiracy theorist. I wouldn't do this at gunpoint. I'm not giving up my DNA for nothing. The mirror tells me what I am 😅😅 And if you weren't doing curly hair videos I could still see you being a TH-camr....probably living in one of those tiny houses on wheels doing videos about minimalist living. That would be cool 🙄
I know the thought did cross my mind but I can't think of any rational reason about a problem with giving my DNA to a company since it's so easy to get DNA from anyone. They even get DNA from dead bodies hundreds of years old. BUT I do think that if there were some evil plot to get everyone's DNA for nefarious purposes, then getting the people to pay for it THEMSELVES would be truly diabolical 👿 And thanks, I think so too I was just kidding I think I would figure something out. And I'm sure you'd love to see me convert a school bus into a house and travel around Oregon with only 2 pairs of underwear, a crop top, and my laptop! I could call the channel Amanda & Underpants on Wheels! No one steal that idea please... I might still do it 😂
Amanda Bicket I would be concerned about my DNA "mysteriously" showing up at a crime scene. Our government is ruthless and corrupt. I don't trust any of them especially the current Administration 😔 They want everyone's DNA for the National Database. Right now they need a court order to get a DNA sample from you. This way they make it seem like innocent fun and everybody wants to do it. Then when they arrest you on a trumped-up charge, they don't have to get a court order to obtain your DNA. You're already in the system which makes it easier to build a case against you 😏 And I think that minimalist channel would be a huge hit 😄
It's a legitimate concern but we could say the same thing about not putting photos and videos of us on the internet, or having gps on in our phone, and our phone has a microphone that's always listening too. We live in an interesting time for sure! If there are DNA locks or something like that in 50 years it could be an issue. I don't think them cloning me would be an issue though, right? I guess I'm just mostly curious about what your concerns would be! Thanks for sharing. It's too late for me but if you bring up some good points you might sway some others 😊💜
Amanda Bicket Yez, I realize it's too late for you. But lots of people watch you. Google can listen to me, look at my photos, and GPS, look up my search and shopping history, that's fine. I don't want them to have ME lol. I just find it interesting how some folks are more protective over their electronic data? How are people more concerned that Google knows what kind of porn they like over Google having...them? How? I'mma need y'all to look into the backgrounds of the people who own 23 and Me. I'mma need y'all to read the fine print and think critically. Peace.
For me, my DNA is just sort of the blueprint of the vessel while I feel like my browsing habits, what I say and what I think, that's more of who I really am. Kind of like if your mind/soul was put in a new body with some body transplant. Your DNA would be the different but they wouldn't really know much about you other than the body. But it's definitely arguable and I can see both sides! That's just why I wasn't concerned about it 💜
I think that was such an interesting and fun video! I’m interested in trying it out to learn more about my DNA! I think you could learn a lot about not only your background but also maybe any health-related issues you may be prone to. There are so many more pros than cons in my opinion. It’s an incredible learning experience! 🤗 I try not to let particular stressful things and or/thoughts get to me that will affect my day to day life or I’d be a mess and too afraid of everything to enjoy anything. About being careful with info and DNA: What about donors? Blood donors, people who list themselves as donors upon their death? Amputees? So many ways to get your DNA if you think of nefarious invasions of privacy. They say aborted fetuses are used in some vaccines. What if after giving birth they use people’s placenta for things? They take blood samples, stool samples, remove tumors, growths, etc... for many reasons in hospitals. Who knows if someone one's eggs in in-vitro are used by shady doctors to make money on the side by using them to couples who can’t conceive and have them use a surrogate? I understand your concern, however, I think the damage has already been done, if there is any damage, to everyone if that’s the case. Using Facebook alone is unbelievably invasive. Google and etc. Already know where you are, where you’ve been, what you eat, your personality, and who knows what else, besides your passwords and bank account information. I’m not saying to not be careful, but I think the DNA/ ancestry test is the lesser of whatever evils you might consider are out there. I personally haven’t done it because of the cost, but will hopefully be able to do it at some point this year! *fingers crossed*

Awesome I'll make to do research before I pick a place! Thanks for the advice 💜
I am 3% Indian ;D
What if those percents are not ALL actual roots,
but more like the percentage of POSSIBILTY of the roots? :)
I don`t think that test is 100% correct.
That’s exactly what I was thinking and it seems like most people get small percentage of Jewish.
You should research Hebrew migrations, that could explain all the Jewish relatives. Also, a lot of Africans and Iberians are of mixed Hebrew ancestry. Ibri actually means Hebrew.
Wow, what a beautiful blend!
I want to do this test myself.
Wow was shocked lol not expecting that!! I really want to try this now
I know, right? 😄💜
OMG........I'm Sardinian and I clicked because your face looked in some way similar to mine... and WOW......ahahah
Your hair type is common with most people who are black mixed with something. What is your mtdna haplogroup?
You are absolutely gorgeous. I almost hesitated to tell you because you seem so down to earth and humble. How old are you?
A widow's peak is a V-shaped growth of hair towards the centre of the forehead.
Thanks for letting me know!
No problemo!!!
Waited all day for this lol. I guessed African and European but I wouldn’t have guessed all the south Asian. That’s awesome. I want to do it now.
Awesome Patricia I love that you were waiting all day for the video 😄💜 if you do it I'm super excited to hear the results!
A widows peak is when the hairline comes to a point in the middle..so if u do have one it'd be under ur bangs lol
For example, my male friend knew his Native American great-grandmother when he was little.. but because she was on his father's side (Y), the female Native DNA (X) wasn't in his results-- only his female relatives on his dad's side are seeing Native American in their results.
Definitely a lot of factors!
no it is an AUTOSOMAL dna test meaning that it tests the 22 pairs of AUTOSOMES. not the sex chromosomes.
Not sure what you mean. Are you saying 23 and me only tests autosomal chromosomes? They do test sex chromosomes as well.
What is a widow's peak?
I definitely want to do this since I was adopted so I’m definitely looking into this
Thanks for sharing Laila! I think it would be very insightful! There's also a health part which I didn't share in this video that can help let you know of any genetic disorders, particularly useful for one's coming up later in life like Alzheimer's disease or certain types of cancers like the braca1 gene 😊
You are the world.
You remind me of my wife she's Puerto Rican but was raised in Jewish area and went to school with Jewish kids
I did the test in Ancestry DNA and I'm to 98% european ! 😊
Inboxing the cleft chin is the best chin hardest to knockout
Cool vid I’m 50 percent asian Pacific Islander 15 percent African 28 percent Europe 2 percent Middle East and 6 percent Native
Are you Caribbean? You’re results are similar to a lot of Caribbean people.
Hi Amanda this was very Interesting to me.your Uncle Richard has done 23 and me also 😊
I saw you guys under relatives! So cool! I think it'd be so interesting if Kirstie and Katelyn did it too. I wonder how different their results would be!
I've wanted to do one of these tests for years now! You are a nice mix of many things 😁
I'm just a white "mutt" as far as I can tell, with some Native American thrown in.
Amanda Bicket amen to that, sista!!
A beautiful mix of DNA!! I bet you are healthy with wonderful genetic diversity. Your children will have less chance of genetic diseases I think.
Such pretty, and random freckles. 💕
Thank you Jaie! 💜
23.5% white 35% black
Are both her parents not from the United States or any country of the America's ? If not I would wonder how the Native American would come in ,
23%me is not accurate for ancestry, she should try Ancestrydna,it's the better company for dna
A widows peak is that point your hairline makes right at the middle of your forehead
My boys are blasian and your hair looks like my.eldest sons the curly texture is like his
She is 22% indian
I'm not understanding your Black and Indian. The curl pattern in the hair and the melanin explains it.
So, you're South Asian. Your most significant ancestry
Why is she South Asian when that only makes up 22% of her DNA and Europe and Africa make up 23.5 % and 35% of her DNA respectively? Not that these tests are a basis for defining people. She can define herself however she pleases.
"NINETH GENERATION 1720" should be spelled "ninth"
Adorable cleft chin and long eye lashes
Your skin is beige color just like mine
Are you mixed race not trying to offend cause I am aswell
Look at it from a genetic perspective. If you have diverse ancestry then there's less inbreeding.
If 0.5% of you is Jewish and you have 435 relatives on the 23 and me test kit, imagine if your larger percentage relatives did the test?
You look like a very young Maya Rudolph :O
Hey there...mixed people are the coolest 😎
Wooow such a broad mix! Fun :-)
I know! Really fun results 😄💜
U look like a regular mixed race girl to me...like Indian n black
You're Part Indian 🇮🇳? Well I m mixed Dravidian, and Mixed Indo Aryan,
Yes. Girls with straight hair do different kinds of videos.
Wow, you are a genuine American....a melting pot from everywhere. Cool!
Hi from your brother from India.
I would never think native american
Gorgeous❤
Thank you Kira!
I wanna do this !!
Awesome that's exciting! Let me know if you end up doing it 💜
I am Egyptian toooooo
Hiiii manda
Flawless Fluidity Question everything.
I feel I have a new freckle or mole every month lol
You don't look Jewish.
yayyy we are 0.5% sisters haha remember i told you i am jewish?
Yes I remember and thought of you when I got the results! 😄 I wonder if we're distant cousins? That would be so cool!
Noa Kahlon יואו אני לא הישראלית היחידה שצופה באמנדה! 🤗
Cute! New friends from Isreal! אני אוהב את שניכם! I hope that translated properly 💕😚
Amanda Bicket yes it translated good! 😃❤️❤️
Yay! 💕😄
No unibrow whatsoever
Your beautiful
Damn you're from everywhere lol
Your hair is African
Colour is Indian
Nature is European 🤗
Honestly I thought you were Ethiopian
You got some indian eyes in you
Nord african is not black .
Nord african is berber (maroc, algerie, tunisie, libye and egypte).
You look like your father.
Y'all. Stop sending your most precious data to Google!
That's just why I wasn't concerned about it 💜
Honestly, using any social networking or posting any picture is sending your information to more then just Google.
I think that was such an interesting and fun video! I’m interested in trying it out to learn more about my DNA! I think you could learn a lot about not only your background but also maybe any health-related issues you may be prone to. There are so many more pros than cons in my opinion. It’s an incredible learning experience! 🤗
I try not to let particular stressful things and or/thoughts get to me that will affect my day to day life or I’d be a mess and too afraid of everything to enjoy anything.
About being careful with info and DNA:
What about donors?
Awwwwwh, that’s cute lol.
😊💜
