I'm glad you said humanity. I believe that no life matters until All life matters. There is only one race, human. And like other species, God likes variety. The Pine, Redwood, Eucalyptus = Tree's. Poodle, Shepherd, Labradors = dogs. Colors, shapes & sizes = beautiful tapestry called Human Race. To differentiate ourselves by pigmentation we hand the devil his only real weapon.... Division. I don't want to be conquered or fighting over Ism"s be what unites humanity. Praying "us" & "them' become "we". We got to be able to handle the truth, start in the mirror, love having everything to do with it. Otherwise we'll never get along, just insist on fulfilling The Book.
George Floyd and any other innocent black women or man including any other racial group or ethnicity that has been terrorized by this country... and still doesn’t have justice!
I’m a black teen and I have been praying and dream the dream of Martin L. King since I was two. I see glory in the distance brother. I see it and it’s beautiful.
I'm not black, but; I hear you, I cry with you, I walk with you, I stand with you. ✊🏼 I'm not black but this is now my fight too. Untied we stand, together we fall.
Racism is just plain stupid! They look different they say... so what! We all are humans, we have feelings, the physical doesn't matter. I am white, but I will fight too against racism, we are all brothers, we are all human, we all have rights, we all have feelings. We all should have what we deserve just for the fact of being human beings! EQUALITY! STOP RACISM!
RIP....Having March for our rights for equality MLK in B'HAM, as i stood behind the yellow line and watched the 4 little girls in the ashes of 16th Baptist Church...I know GLORY will come. Stay strong my people...you stand on mighty people shoulders. Glory! Will Come! Cc
Dillon Murray you do realize what black lives matter means, right? We’re protesting for the end of police brutality, for the end of systemic racism against people of color, and for the justice for those who have been killed because of police brutality.
Stand tall brothers and sisters, black, white, asian, hispanic. We must be united in these times, we must work towards understanding each other and move past our differences, together. God bless the world. ''Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that'' - MLK.
I haven't watched the film yet but I'm already in tears. I heard stories from my dad saying that he was forbidden to step his foot in places because the color of his skin. He's got so many deep and hidden scars and most of them is because he was told he was not good enough, that his color would stop him from achieving greatness. MLK fought this fight as christians should do and it's not over. He's an example of how Jesus taught us to live and fight and his blood was not shed in vain. The Glory belongs to the Lord and one day all the pain, suffering and struggle will be over and every person will bow to Jesus. And that same glory will be his for the eternity.
Amen to that! I saw this movie opening weekend (On Martin Luther King Day) and it was such a hit, everyone in the theater started clapping during the end credits! It was a really inspirational film that really gave Dr. King his justice. It also makes me honor all those who went through those difficult times (including your father). I hope you'll get the chance to see it soon and have a great day.
You're 18 which at the very least (these days) your father would be in his 30s (born in the 80s) which by no means has he felt the divide between white and black like in the 50s. "I heard stories from my dad saying that he was forbidden to step his foot in places because the color of his skin", blatant lies and ignorance from the youth. Sounds like your dad took a story from Rosa Parks sitting in the back of the bus which is a disgrace for her, and those who truly fought. The other ignorant comments who, "amen" are just as retarded as your lie as they fail in basic math and history. Something that is so important in our culture, let alone the African American community has simply become a conversational piece that revolves around dumb asses like you and those who want to add their simple 2 cent gratification. Such a shame as you take advantage boasting about a part of history that is so important to make you feel relevant.
I agree with you .. you have a gift .... it is not quantifiable the pain brought by the whites to the black community .. the excuses are not enough ... I wish my apologies could be an example because I feel like white too responsible .... my apologies are nothing but take it as a small start ... respect forever ..

@@yameii3065 it's because God isn't real. He is just a symbol that people believe in because they cant carry their own weight of on their shoulders. God was never real. What was real was the belief that a spirit can make everything better for the believers, and the fact that the belief is the reason people crumble when their spirit won't help them, or they feel that their spirit betrayed them. If you feel that God doesn't help you, then you don't believe in god. You believe in yourself, and your ability to move forward, past the preaching of a bible that was man made to give false rules about the universe, past the belief that one spirit will save us all, and past the believers who refuse to carry their own weight because of a belief that their spirit is above all, and will save them from their trouble or struggle. That's my two cents about it. I don't give a shit if your religious or not, but when you use your religion to make excuses about problems in your life, then you aren't religious.

Saw the movie. It was awesome. It shows how black people were treated and the struggle for freedom. This song is fantastic. The ethnicity of blacks are strong because we fought for freedom, end to slavery, beginning of integration, etc. Right now, we are reliving the past again with white cops killing black men like Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Tamar Rice, and Eric Garner. We all need to stand together and fight together. We are fighting each other when we are all in the human race. We will continue to fight till all rights fulfilled. We are not each other's enemies. We are a unity. We are killing each other. We all need to stand together. African American people are strong and can do anything the white man can do. Look at Barack Obama, Gabby Douglas, MLK! We all need to congratulate each other. Lets be one!
And those who fought for freedom I' m happy to say that I was one of the ones that fought for our rights growing up in Mississippi where we were segregated so I understand every lyric of this song and it touches my heart glory 🙏🙏

I'm Mexican, but I have mad respect for black people, what they've been through, and their culture. I'm glad MLK did what he did for EVERYBODY of color. Not just black. Brown people and "yellow" people owe their fair treatment in this country to him.
None of this would have been a problem if we had all stayed within our own societies. I'm not condoning white America's conduct, but I'm saying it was utterly predictable, and would have happened, and will happen, in any society that suddenly absorbs a large foreign population. Mass immigration primarily benefits the super rich, who either loose an excess population of impoverished peasants they don't need, or who gain a population of non-unionized, dirt-cheap labor. The fact that Asians and other foreigners were forced to leave their countries in the first place, instead of being provided livelihoods in their homeland, is a wrong in itself. To each family a home. To each people a homeland.
***** As everyone is elated to continue pointing out. But what about the history of warfare and conquest in all the other races? Does anybody even know about those histories? Does anybody even care? Or is everyone just looking for any and all ammunition to fire against white people to satisfy some kind of personal vendetta? Singling out white people and acting like our race is the only race that has ever conquered another society is, quite simply, racist in itself.
***** Me and my family are broke since the "great recession". Just like my grandparents were during the Great Depression. Still waiting on that global white supremacy conspiracy to kick us something.
***** An argument presented without evidence can be dismissed without evidence, so they say. It's not just my family. There are a fuck ton of whites, now and in history, who aren't in on the conspiracy, or whatever you want to call it, and who suffer from the tidal forces of the global economic system. You know how many whites owned slaves? 2%. That's what your hatred of white people is essentially based on: because 2% of our great-great-great grandparents owned slaves. Refuting facts like this with bullshit like "you need to go to the library" is crap. The truth is that you just want a reason hate white people because you have an inferiority complex.

When I was in Elementary school, our Music teacher assigned me and my classmates to memorize this song by heart and sing this song for our Black History Month program…Even now, as a high school freshman, I still know the lyrics. Glory is officially a part of my childhood
"I am the hopeful black woman who was denied her right to vote. I am the caring white supporter killed on the frontline of freedom. I am the unarmed black kid who maybe needed a hand but was instead given a bullet. I am the two fallen police officers slain in the line of duty. Selma has awakened my humanity. Selma is now." -Common (said at the Golden Globes 2015)
+kk lam why should I it's my opinion. As great as he could have been had he not cheated on his wife. I personally don't think any man or women should cheat on their spouse. That's hat I believe just how everyone believes there's no such thing as equal rights
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. As another commenter said, it is SO powerful!! I had never heard it until about a week ago, now I've seen Selma (awesome movie!!), and I just can't get enough of this song - Common is awesome, and John Legend is incredible. What a beautiful collaboration from these 2 wonderful performers. You have to see the movie this was written for, unless you're old enough to have lived through it, which, unfortunately, I was not. I wasn't born until 1969, but I damn well for sure would have walked across that bridge with everyone else if I could have. Bunch of racist hicks. I've been told not much has changed in Alabama which is discouraging, but maybe they'll finally see the light.
I live in alabama. We arent racist as a society. Its individual people that still remember those times and wish those times still existed. I don't believe in racism, and that all people are created equal, but it isn't fair that our state is seen as one of the most racist.
@@brockwalker6629 I've never actually been to Alabama. I was basing what I said off of what an elderly black woman who is from Alabama said to me. She remembers before and after. I didn't mean to insult the whole state of Alabama. I was just pretty worked up from seeing the movie. I shouldn't have singled out an entire state. Obviously, not everyone is racist in Alabama and I know that, but on the other hand, just from what I've been told, if I were black, the South would be one of the last places I'd want to live. Just keeping it real there! lol

Everybody just calm down AND listen to the song. +John Legend +Common great job bringing awareness to the forefront! ! Will be buying Selma soundtrack.
I had to delete my last comment in order to respond correctly to this with the respect it deserves. A great positive, uplifting, beautiful message. We shouldn't let governments, politicians, or anyone separate us because we are all equal. We should join together to break the chains of the selfish elitists that run the world and treat us as their wage slaves.
R.I.P Malcolm X, nobody seems to remember you died with the idea of a unified nation regardless of color and that black people could lift these spiritual and mental chains that kept us down. I am not black but he is personally my idol, sadly not recognized as much as king.
I saw the movie...it is soo sad .But this song is soo beautiful .God bless everyone...let justice ring .Held your head up high to the sky .Don't let no one tell you you'll never be no one .Believe in your self .
In the midst of today's Middle East war, this prayer rings out again. The prayer for peace for all of humanity is what we need. Thank you for this beautiful prayer for peace and energy and desire to stand up for what is right. Amen.

The hardest thing to do is to read these ignorant comments and not call them names but to just enlightened them with the struggle its of being black in america this is song is amazing and shows our struggle and only the true ignorant people in this world will hate on it
All people of all races struggle, remember what MLK jr. Said he wants everyone to come together not just African Americans but all races. The ignorant people will comment when they do but so many Caucasian people have fought to seek your freedom as well wether in interracial relationships and it because they felt segregation is wrong. Don't ignore every race and put ones before another, everyone has struggles
Im white, and Ill say this: if white people liked it, it wouldn't be the truth. He's speaking the truth, and white people (and I say that as Malcolm X put it, as the mentality of white supremacy systematically instilled into our society) won't understand. They won't, because they have no idea what it's like for black people, or poc. Besides, youtube comments are the worst, and for that Im sorry.
I'm not free In this supposed to be the land of the free and you're really not free because they are allowed to take your freedom from you you think this will be illegal but it's legal

@@yameii3065 Dry your tears...locate a Holy Bible and please read Deuteronomy Chapter 28. This will explain why all of the nations conspired against us, the so called black people in the Americas and thru out the four corners of this Earth plane. We were terribly disobedient to our Creator and Father and because of it, a judgement was set against us. We have endured all of the injustices which you, at your tender age, are aware of some of them. Good news! Although the injustices seem to continue, our punishment is almost over. Our Creator is flipping the script and the judgments are coming upon the gentiles; read Joel Chapter 3. Our true preparation is described in Isaiah Chapter 60. Peace!

I had to come back and listen after watching the club shay shay interview. This song is a work of art.

And we need to keep fighting

You know whats more messed up? You still have to fight for your rights. I'm white but i feel the pain that Black Americans go through everyday.
Stand tall brothers and sisters, black, white, asian, hispanic. We must be united in these times, we must work towards understanding each other and move past our differences, together. Who’s here after Ahmaud’s death,R.I.P brother 😢
Sadly, it's now George Floyd
@@nashidm6086 That's too sad.
now here for George Floyd.
I m here after racist acts in America
The fact that ahmauds death story is 3 weeks ago which makes it two weeks ago from George Floyd's death. It hurts.
Amen to that
You're 18 which at the very least (these days) your father would be in his 30s (born in the 80s) which by no means has he felt the divide between white and black like in the 50s.
You mad bro?

I agree with you .. you have a gift .... it is not quantifiable the pain brought by the whites to the black community .. the excuses are not enough ... I wish my apologies could be an example because I feel like white too responsible .... my apologies are nothing but take it as a small start ... respect forever ..
It's too good to be black meeehnnn

I just got them has reading this
@@yameii3065 it's because God isn't real.
Wtf are you talking about everyone is treated the same

@@incognito9155 Listen man, it takes a big man to stand for your people. But it takes a bigger man to realize that all people are your people.
@@OmarSupreme99 Sorry but nope. All people are not my people. "My people" wouldn't still inflict racism upon me as of today.
Need this right now, as of yesterday, we have a president that doesn't care about our lives.
Acceptance was eventually learned here in America. But America was made by immigrants, for immigrants. I get what you're saying tho.
*****
As everyone is elated to continue pointing out.
*****
Me and my family are broke since the "great recession". Just like my grandparents were during the Great Depression. Still waiting on that global white supremacy conspiracy to kick us something.
*****
An argument presented without evidence can be dismissed without evidence, so they say.
Not me coming back years later to hear this beautiful masterpiece again...
This is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard. It should be on the radio FAR more than it is.
They should be playing it on Manchin and Sinema’s phone mail.

They don't want the truth revealed so that's why it's not airing like that 😢
One day when the glory comes
It will be ours, it will be ours
Oh one day when the war is won
We will be sure, we will be sure
Oh glory (Glory, glory)
Oh (Glory, glory)
Hands to the Heavens, no man, no weapon
Formed against, yes glory is destined
Every day women and men become legends
Sins that go against our skin become blessings
The movement is a rhythm to us
Freedom is like religion to us
Justice is juxtapositionin' us
Justice for all just ain't specific enough
One son died, his spirit is revisitin' us
Truant livin' livin' in us, resistance is us
That's why Rosa sat on the bus
That's why we walk through Ferguson with our hands up
When it go down we woman and man up
They say, "Stay down", and we stand up
Shots, we on the ground, the camera panned up
King pointed to the mountain top and we ran up
One day when the glory comes
It will be ours, it will be ours
Oh one day when the war is won
We will be sure, we will be sure
Oh glory (Glory, glory)
Oh (Glory, glory)
Now the war is not over, victory isn't won
And we'll fight on to the finish, then when it's all done
We'll cry glory, oh glory (Glory, glory)
Oh (Glory, glory)
We'll cry glory, oh glory (Glory, glory)
Oh (Glory, glory)
Selma's now for every man, woman and child
Even Jesus got his crown in front of a crowd
They marched with the torch, we gon' run with it now
Never look back, we done gone hundreds of miles
From dark roads he rose, to become a hero
Facin' the league of justice, his power was the people
Enemy is lethal, a king became regal
Saw the face of Jim Crow under a bald eagle
The biggest weapon is to stay peaceful
We sing, our music is the cuts that we bleed through
Somewhere in the dream we had an epiphany
Now we right the wrongs in history
No one can win the war individually
It takes the wisdom of the elders and young people's energy
Welcome to the story we call victory
The comin' of the Lord, my eyes have seen the glory
One day when the glory comes
It will be ours, it will be ours
Oh one day when the war is won
We will be sure, we will be sure
Oh glory (Glory, glory)
Oh (Glory, glory)
Oh glory (Glory, glory)

When the war is won, when it's all said and done
We'll cry glory (Glory, glory)

"I am the hopeful black woman who was denied her right to vote.
I am the caring white supporter killed on the frontline of freedom.
I am the unarmed black kid who maybe needed a hand but was instead given a bullet.
I am the two fallen police officers slain in the line of duty.
Selma has awakened my humanity.
Selma is now." -Common (said at the Golden Globes 2015)
Oh my goodness. It was wonderful. Common, you make us proud. John Legend, you are amazing. The future is in good hands. Continue!!!!
Yvette Moyo I second that!
word.......
Amen!
hey! Wassup! im subscribes to you!
7 years old and still one of the greatest songs in existence
R.I.P Martin Luther king Jr 1929-1968 we love you.
Speak for your self moron
The African American who won the Nobel peace prize, married to coretta King and was assassinated in Memphis Tennessee on April 8,1968! Peace 2 All?
Why are you so rude you son of a ditch
+kk lam why should I it's my opinion. As great as he could have been had he not cheated on his wife. I personally don't think any man or women should cheat on their spouse. That's hat I believe just how everyone believes there's no such thing as equal rights
Wait. You believe there is no such thing as equal rights?!
I honestly can’t understand how anyone could dislike this video. It is to powerful, beautiful, and inspirational.
Because John Legend is a democrat and has said many stupid things about President Trump
Racist
Bot
RIP George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud and all of those who have died by the hands of police brutality.
Just keeping it real there! lol
It's crazy how long i sat and listened to this song replay on the dvd menu
It's like my sixth time, and I already know I'm going to replay it again. 😅
A message fo every black person on this earth🌎🙏🏿🙏🏿
"On this Earth." stfu.
TurnupTugboat what tf is wrong with that? If your racist, LEAVE.
@@chock7099 you're*

great job bringing awareness to the forefront! !
Will be buying Selma soundtrack.
Echo ValeraThanx for sharing awesome song !!!
Skinner Sweet you are most welcome!
James Miller I believe that can happen. We are all part of the 99%.
***** with a made-up-mindset like that, YOU are keeping YOURSELF back.

This song is so powerful. If you can't get this in your soul you might want to make sure that your heart is still beating.
A great song for a great film. Quality work all around.
I agree. I'm glad Common and John Legend won a Golden Globe for this impressive song.
I would be absolutely satisfied with this song winning the Oscar.
MediaLover194 and it happens !!
this is beyond inspirational. a call to generations for what is right.
+Brian Gregory Amen to that
True that :)
This is the type of music that we should streaming on the radio..
This song gives me chills! Beautiful. Stand up for justice, stand for peace.
We sang this in my choir at school, we were all different races coming together to celebrate black rights, it was awesome.
MLK would never say black rights, he would say Civil Rights; rights belonging to all people regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, etc.
Anja michels do you have the video ?? i want to see it so badly 😩😩
R.I.P Malcolm X, nobody seems to remember you died with the idea of a unified nation regardless of color and that black people could lift these spiritual and mental chains that kept us down. I am not black but he is personally my idol, sadly not recognized as much as king.
Those who died for what they literally believe
I assure u he is very much remembered. However u should mind the fact that this is a music video for Selma(MLK Movie)
thanks for sharing & keeping it real q:^/
you right they don't now the soul and life behind it and hope for the future for it

In the midst of today's Middle East war, this prayer rings out again. The prayer for peace for all of humanity is what we need. Thank you for this beautiful prayer for peace and energy and desire to stand up for what is right. Amen.

OMG when I heard this song it made me cry tears of joy 😭 It made me realize that I should be grateful for all my white friends and black friends. This totally grabbed my heart
Ashley Dawson I know, this is such an inspiring song.
Ashley Dawson If I would born as African American I would be really proud on it, they all have so brave and unstpable people in theyr history. I cryed too :D

BLACK LIVES MATTER 👑✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽❤️
The hardest thing to do is to read these ignorant comments and not call them names but to just enlightened them with the struggle its of being black in america this is song is amazing and shows our struggle and only the true ignorant people in this world will hate on it
Its our fault, were stupid for responding to them because when we do more people see them
All people of all races struggle, remember what MLK jr.
This song just popped in my head. The officer that killed George Floyd has just been found guilty and this is the song that just hit me. GLORY!
This song was the first thing that popped in my head after hearing the verdict.
@@brittnileegordon6429 this popped into my mind before the verdict lmao but the outcome just made it better
@@pinkgrl4lifee I was on edge, glad justice was served. Watched from Jamaica.
I'm not free
In this supposed to be the land of the free and you're really not free because they are allowed to take your freedom from you you think this will be illegal but it's legal
First song I thought of today remembering it was the 1yr anniversary of his guilty verdicts.
BLACK and VERY PROUD🧘🏽♀️🧘🏽♀️ I’m so happy and grateful to be black 👸🏽✊🏽
Just looking through this..It hurts...so so badly..! I have one question? We pray all this time for it to end however..God still hasn’t stopped it?! Why? “Wait and it’ll get better!” Isn’t an excuse. We’ve waited for millions of years. No justice. No Empathy. For those who simply did nothing to deserve all the gun shots..or all the pain..Not even to die when they ain’t in pain. Now tell me, why? Why are we the only ones who are standing, however we haven’t seen any signs that god is also acting? People at my church say “Gods letting satan their time.” “Satan will be locked up for 1,000 years and then let our again.” Tell me I’d 1,000 years anything near countless years?! Huh? Didn’t think so. And if god really cared (not saying he don’t) Would he let satan back out after all this time? Will we have to go through an endless loop of pain?! Someone please explain this to me.. I’m only 10 years old, and even I see this as utter bullying! Actually, abuse. #BlackLivesMatter
Have a beautiful night/ day.. Stay safe, wear a mask.. (I cried typing this..ima go cry in the bathroom for the rest of the night.)
@@yameii3065 you’re absolutely right, I have a bunch of questions yet people say don’t question god.. I definitely will ask my questions , I’m woke
Peace!

One day when the glory comes
It will be ours, it will be ours
One day when the war is won
We will be sure, we will be sure
Oh glory
[Common:]
Hands to the Heavens, no man, no weapon
Formed against, yes glory is destined
Every day women and men become legends
Sins that go against our skin become blessings
The movement is a rhythm to us
Freedom is like religion to us
Justice is juxtapositionin' us
Justice for all just ain't specific enough
One son died, his spirit is revisitin' us
True and livin' livin' in us, resistance is us
That's why Rosa sat on the bus
That's why we walk through Ferguson with our hands up
When it go down we woman and man up
They say, "Stay down", and we stand up
Shots, we on the ground, the camera panned up
King pointed to the mountain top and we ran up
[John Legend:]
One day when the glory comes
It will be ours, it will be ours
One day when the war is won
We will be sure, we will be sure
Oh glory
Now the war is not over, victory isn't won
And we'll fight on to the finish, then when it's all done
We'll cry glory, oh glory
We'll cry glory, oh glory
[Common:]
Selma is now for every man, woman and child
[John Legend:]
One day when the glory comes
It will be ours, it will be ours
One day when the war is won
We will be sure, we will be sure
Oh glory
[John Legend:]
When the war is won, when it's all said and done
We'll cry glory, oh glory
Thank you so much. You helped me with a school project.
