Hey Matt, not sure if you remember a while back on one of your wobble head videos I commented about using smaller weight wobble heads for shaky heads, cause it gave me better options in hooks and baits (especially fishing the shaky head capitol, the Coosa River). I started doing about the same when I find the bottom is full of muck and debris and a worm/ bait can get lost. Works great for that. Thank you never thought much about going heavier with it.... Great Tip, Thank you.
I started using a brass weighted carolina rig with a floating jig head in a tube today. I'm going to give it a try whenever the river isn't as rough as this morning. Thanks for your knowledge
I have had amazing success with the Ryugi G2 football head. It gives you the ability to put on whatever hook you are comfortable with and there are a decent amount of different weights for each application. As of late I have been smashing the smallmouth on lake mead using this technique with a smaller profile crawfish as my bait preference. The GLF snack craw and OSP Dolive craw have been the winners for me as of late. Thanks for the tips Matt this was a really interesting video.
I've been doing something like this for a while. I make my own weights. they are a cylinder with the eye coming out of the weight closer to one end. the other eye is at the far end of the weight. this does two things: 1. The end of the weight nearest the top eye more or less leads the weight. As it hits the bottom it catches a bit and keeps flipping the other end. This imparts action to the trailing soft bait. 2. When the weight gets funneled into the crack between two rocks, the top eye will usually flip the weight up and forward. thus helping it escape from the pinch.
I started doing this in the fall when I made a few swing heads with my do it mold without a hook. I just ran a creature and had success. Can’t wait to play with some of your ideas👍
The Berkley Water Bug works great on that type of rig. It resembles a gobie very well. It's also a floating bait. In my experience, you have to keep the bait moving or you'll snag zebra muscles, etc. because the hook can rotate towards the bottom.
Agreed with the above comment, the bait has the freedom to move with a TX rig with the weight separate from the bait but by using a weight that always wants to wiggle/wobble and change position as it is moved ( as opposed to a bullet weight that will try to track straight) the football head will cause additional action.
I have been fishing my public pond that just unfroze and I have not caught anything yet i was wondering what bait I should start using to hopefully catch largemouth? Love your channel!!!
@@MattStefanFishing Also I am a small content creator and i am doing a challenge to comment different fishing youtubers for baits for largemouth. If you are willing I would post a video on it and shout you out! Please email if you are able. Love your channel!!!
Hey Matt I’m definitely trying that here on lake simcoe in Ontario. The goby population has exploded over the years. When I run the 2 3/8 paddle tail in goby colour I use the Ryugi small hobbit offset in a home made gika rig
If you want an idea for something that the market is definitely missing it is a shakeyhead style jighead that is attached to the hook the same way as a wobblehead is. I use one of the only ones that isn’t football or baitfish head shaped. The problem with what I use ( Arkie U-bolt swinging head) the design of the wire that attaches the hook to the jig head is elongated and allows the weight to get trapped against the wire at an odd angle and not allow freedom of movement for the hook ( which btw is a normal thin wire offset worm hook). Maybe you can improve on this design or you know of a better product that works for finesse fishing small worms and craws.
Yeah but… why braid? I mean, for my c-rig I use a FC or Mono leader. I do like the notion of a braid soft split ring if making a wobble head with a replacement hook.
Do you know of any company that sales a wobble head jig skirt and all made. I have one that is a swim jig style head, but wobble head. I want more but I think the one I got I bought from a small bait maker at a boat dealership.
I gotta try that little leader between the weight and hook for flounder.
Go for it
That should definently help keep the bait in the flounder strike zone longer
Cool idea. I’d love to see an underwater action of this.
I'm going to look into it.

I like that . Think you hit the nail on the head. Man i Appreciate all these tips.Good stuff.
Glad you like it!
Would that technique work well for walleye also? What is your retrieve cadence?
Yep drag stop drag stop
That swinghead is versatile as hell. I watched your video on them the other day and I got me some on the way. Great content Sir
They’re great!

One of and maybe the best tackle and technique fishing channels on TH-cam.
Appreciate the support!

Thanks!
Great suggestion and am really looking forward to trying it.
Hurry up spring.
Hope you enjoy it!
That's a great rig Matt thanks bud for sharing it can't wait to try it out when the ice thaws for Spring 👍🏻
You bet

Thanks for the tip!
I like that extended caro-wobble.
Awesome
I have traded out all the split rings on all my cranks, jerks with the soft ring you taught me. So, this would be just another good use of them.
Been doing this for a few years with flukes flounder love it
I like this and thanks Matt.
You bet
That’s really cool. I need to give it a try.
You should
Very cool idea. Looks good.
Thanks, give it a try!
Now that's innovative
Give it a try
Was finally able to pick up a pack of Core Tackle wacky shots at Academy here in NC ! Super excited to use them.
Awesome! Good luck!
Great information I will try it
Awesome
A texas rig with a bobber stop above and below the weight will do the same thing .I been doing that with texas rigs for about 3 years now
The wobble head will give the bait much more movement/ action.
Agreed with the above comment, the bait has the freedom to move with a TX rig with the weight separate from the bait but by using a weight that always wants to wiggle/wobble and change position as it is moved ( as opposed to a bullet weight that will try to track straight) the football head will cause additional action.

Oh boy. The light just went on in my head!
Nice!
Very cool looking forward to trying this 👍 ty
Hope you enjoy
Thanks for the tip..
do you use a Palomar knot
Yes I do!
Would you consider using mono or stretchy fluoro (crank FC or system leader) for clear water applications?
I use fluoro but did braid for visuals in the video
Great tip
Glad it was helpful!
I have been fishing my public pond that just unfroze and I have not caught anything yet i was wondering what bait I should start using to hopefully catch largemouth? Love your channel!!!
Jerkbait
@@MattStefanFishing I have been using a berkley hit stick 11. Is that a good choice or should I change it up?

Thanks Matt. For a better way to fish a football jig .I like it ! 😮😊👍
Glad you like it!
I'll be trying that...Thanks !
You should
Great idea. Any reason not to use flouro instead of braid?
I was thinking the same thing and maybe the density of the fluorocarbon line will inhibit the action of the bait?
I used braid just for the video visuals
Dude, great idea..thanks 🍻
Any time!
Hey Matt! Strike King has a tungsten wobble head that you use any hook on! Ask your buddy Todd about this.
Yep
This rig is very interesting, I'm going to test it with the large-mouth ones here in the South of Brazil.
Awesome
That's actually a really good idea.😂
Thanks
What weight line do you use for the leader. Braid or fluorocarbon? Great idea?
Fluorocarbon 15 lb
Nice idea have to try it it sure makes sense 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thanks for checking it out.
We did this with a Mojo Rig. And the leader length can be adjusted on the fly.
Yep
I'm gonna try this next Spring...👌👍
Hope you enjoy
Thanks for that rigging tip. Giving up the carolina rig and use this rig instead
Right on
Matt, it is called String-N
Interesting
Ingenious seminar content.
Is the leader fluorocarbon?Thank you.
Yes but i used braid for the video so it could be see.
Hey I think I can use this as new Texas technique lol .. I can wait to try this out
Let me know how it works!
Excellent!
Glad you liked it!

I’m having a hard time envisioning what your describing
Any in a tournament?
Maybe
Isn’t this more like a modified Tokyo rig?
Not really
Maybe you’ll. Win a tournament on that approach. Start a hole new category. Call it the. Stephon rig.
Haha
Thanks Matt ? Why braid ?
Just so
You can see in the video better
How about selling the weight without the hook as a separate item. Why waste a hook?
You can buy just the weights
I’ve been doing this for 10 years 👌killer
Awesome
Everytime Ive tried a wobble head Ive got hung in the rocks
It’s a bottom hugger
Try lighter weight less hang ups and heavier floro instead of braid .
Yeah but… why braid? I mean, for my c-rig I use a FC or Mono leader. I do like the notion of a braid soft split ring if making a wobble head with a replacement hook.

@ ok, my bad… I guess I wasn’t paying close enough attention. sorry
“The Stefan Rig”
Trademark it.
Haha
🍺👍🤠.
Thanks!
Been so addicted to Political News the last couple of months I am now missing good old (new) fishing Tips.
Thank you for a Double Tip Day!
Be well.
It’s a technique that i like , but from the bank always snagged , you lose a lot of them 😢
Bummer
1st lol
Nice
