    Awesome video and ur very correct its always something with a vw lol also the time laps was a great addition as for me I like seeing the work being done and u are good with ur left hand but maybe use the tripod more in those situations. Keep up the great work and videos. Oh and I always hit the like button at the beginning of ur videos cause I know 1 way or the other its gonna be a good one :)

      Tripod not always possible, too close of quarters, and its certainly not as mobile. It gets used when it can be, though! Thanks so much for always watching! I appreciate it! Lots more to come, update on the Fastback tomorrow at lunch time!

    Your new camera looks great, you could turn the music down a little bit and add some light to the area you're working on so we can see. I am curious to see how you're going to fix that one

  • @johnferrell7979
    @johnferrell7979 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you have enough space to put a jack and piece of 4x4 from underneath the body and raise it up on both sides. That way you don't have to cut and weld.

    • @DuckmanCycles
      @DuckmanCycles  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That has been the general consensus on what I should do. But that isn't going to work so well. More about that in tomorrow's Q&A video!

  • @shartne
    @shartne 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Take a Jack and a four by four board and jack the floor up from the bottom and maybe it will bend it back up enough to work? Its worth a try. That just how stuff goes for me too. LOL

    • @DuckmanCycles
      @DuckmanCycles  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That may work, the engine has to come out, though. Next update in 45 minutes... new findings.... MORE PROBLEMS!

  • @apegarage366

    Try changing the subrame bushings, that would hopefully raise the body a bit and give you some clearance.

    • @DuckmanCycles
      @DuckmanCycles  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mentioned that in another comment, but a modification to the subframe won't fix the crushed rear end. I'll just fix what is broken and make it right! 😀😀😀😀 Next video shows more, it goes up tomorrow morning, tonight for Patreon members. duckshit.net

    I would try one those cheap little stock car screw Jack's from the flat tire kit wedge it between the motor and floor and jack it up I keep 3 or 4 in my shop at all times get them at u pick for cheap they got 100 uses

    • @DuckmanCycles
      @DuckmanCycles  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @jeremyhanna3852

      Oh ok never worked on a air cooled vw figured there a steel or aluminum block in there somewhere

    • @DuckmanCycles
      @DuckmanCycles  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the heads are aluminum, the cylinders are cast iron, and the case is magnesium everything is covered with sheet metal... hit the fan housing on this engine is also magnesium. All brittle or delicate stuff.

  • @Volkswagenplanet
    @Volkswagenplanet 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Before you start cutting. Could that mount you made be off? Could you adjust the height from the mounts?

    • @DuckmanCycles
      @DuckmanCycles  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The mounts are fixed stock position, I used OEM ones... lol. The one I "made" was OEM from a Beetle, it only had a couple of spacers, actually, no height was changed. I did think of spacing the entire subframe further under the car,, it would be easy on a Type-3, the whole rear end comes out with only 5 bolts removed! But that would he hacky. Tomorrow's lunch video shows what I found when I started digging around after I finished this video.

    I probably would not sold the 67 FB if I would have bought the Weber center mount kit 120$ back then I could not get them right - thats how I came across it, the first owner had a oil leak , took it to a shop . They talked him into overhauling the engine and told him 450 , well it turned into 900 and lost most of the power. He got tired of taking it back and sold it to me 900 . to recover the overhaul money . I found a low compression cyl. took out the motor and it had a cracked head , could not find the right head had to replace both , but notice they had put dish down low compression pistons . I fix the compression good but it still didnt run right . Me and the old owner realized they must have kept the old carbs because these had damage to them and they were the only ones that touched it , I went out and bought some used ones spend about 240 bucks but it still = NO POWER = so i sold it ?

    • @DuckmanCycles
      @DuckmanCycles  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The center mount Webers actually aren't very god for Type-2 or 3. They don't have preheaters in the middle and don't fit well in the engine compartment of the Type-3 at all. They are also a disaster to try and tune. These FRDs that I have are great, though! Just need good linkage to keep them in tune!

  • @Volkswagenplanet
    @Volkswagenplanet 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Everyone keeps complaining about having to adjust dual carbs. Why or what causes this? I never hear of other car manufacturers needing to keep adjusting on a regular basis. When you sync dual carbs do you need 2 syncro tools to adjust them? Maybe if you ever get caught up do a video on how dual carbs work. This is why I stay clear of duals. Your carbs tops looks awsome though. To bad you can't see them like a bug. Thanks for the video on the duals.

    • @DuckmanCycles
      @DuckmanCycles  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not a whole lot of other factory cars use dual carburetors the same way as a flat-4 does. \Long linkage components that bend easily and lots of moving parts prove more points for adjustment and more for failure. Thats the beauty of this hex bar kit... the long moving parts are heavy and don't bend, and the smaller parts on the ends require shorter adjustments. Its not difficult, but can be a little tricky to get them in sync properly if you don't know what you're doing. I have it down to a couple minutes and done. I used to not have a problem at all, but it gradually became a real pain in the ass, tired of getting dirty when all I wanted to do was go to the store! No longer do I wish to deal with the nonsense from the system that I had which I think kept bending or twisting on its own. The carbs are great, the linkage was crap!

    generally, is there a major problem with VW cars? specifically in parts and engine components? e.g. gearbox etc

    • @DuckmanCycles
      @DuckmanCycles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The most major problem with classic VWs is people that don't take care of them properly. That is usually when they rust, break, down, or fall apart. If they are maintained they last a VERY long time with very simple and small problems! Thanks for the question!
