We are very excited about release of our collaboration with Montana Knife Co. This has been over a year in the works and we are expecting the launch to generate a lot of excitement. Josh Smith, Kevin Estela and Mike Glover worked together to design an EDC knife that is just as capable for defense as it is for bushcraft and MKC did a fabulous job bringing that creation to life.

Missed this batch the first round (sold out in 2 min!). Excited to hear they are restocking soon. Everyone commenting on pricing obviously is unaware of the time not only going into actually making each one, but the planning time involved. Also - we are all preaching to support small businesses. Here are two small businesses in the USA- Montana and Utah- that can be supported with one purchase, with a knife that will outlive you as an heirloom because it's so well made with such good materials, and it may save a life some day. I've been following MKC for a year or so, and that company never ceases to amaze me. My husband has multiple knives of theirs and I can guarantee they are worth every penny. This was a great Collab with tons of thought put into the design. 👏💪🔥

I learned about these knives while attending Kevin's survival course a while back. I Just received mine today for Christmas. My daughter has had hers for a few months now. Amazing quality in these knives! Very durable, feels great in the hand, and stays sharp. Was extremely sharp out of the box!! A great knife is a must have item.

'Everyday' also implies accessible and affordable in my opinion.
At a >USD$300 price point this is more of a collectable or well off gear head's toy than an everyday tool.
I might cop shit for this, but it's just one mans opinion.

I have been carrying and using one of these all for seasons now and i will say, love the design. The sheath is the real winner here... the overall design of this package is outstanding and very well thought out. Disappears under a t shirt and you always have a reliable tool on you that is quick and easy to deploy. I will be looking for a 2nd one in magnacut

Awesome blade but I think a 2nd version should be made. Have a true 90 degree spine and also a sheath that allows scout carry. I think those two things would complete the "Bush Craft" aspect to an already awesome blade. I think that would make this one of the most rounded knifes out there. Maybe also had a loop on the sheath that can be used to either hold a ferro rod or a place to attach 550 cord.

Not going to say it's overpriced, a custom knifemaker can place dozens of hours into a single blade. This looks like a handy bird/trout knife.
However there are many blades (custom/factory) that may offer comparable steels at more affordable options. LT Wright, White River Knives, TOPS, etc.

  • @superkool7
    @superkool7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I got mine in the mail yesterday. I’m a collector of high end blades. Routinely 700 and up. I can say honestly, this is one of the most beautiful, well balanced, well crafted, sharpest out of the box knives I have ever had the pleasure of owning. To be totally honest, at a 325 price, MKC are the ones taking a loss. This knife is worth WAY more than 325. I see blades like routinely go for 700+. If you have a chance to buy it, BUY IT. I also carried it all day today, and had zero issues with comfortability. Even when sitting in the car. And seriously, this is my 3rd MKC blade and DEFINITELY not the last. If you are on the fence, try to trust me as much as you can, this is a no brainer buy guys

For a handmade/finished blade the price doesn't surprise me a lot, but there are a lot of other U.S. manufacturers putting out great products at lower price points. Chris Reeves, L.T. Wright, White River Knives, etc.
Not trying to downplay, this is a good looking blade, but if you're looking for a fixed blade do your due diligence and explore the market. As with many things, there is a point of diminishing returns. For must of us here I'd expect a $30 Mora will handle most of your tasks

Love that you called out the folding knife's at the end. I skip right past them in any store and only look for full tang fixed blades preferably hand crafted. Theirs zero comfort derived from knowing that the only reason your fingers didnt get sliced up is due to a thin peice of metal shim holding the blade up from folding. That & Ive had folding knifes break off from simply widdling away at sticks. Great video / Knife collab.

Mike I gotta ask you about this credit card deal. Apparently big credit card companies are denying the purchase of fire arms. Visa and Master card and I think one other company. So in retail ever item has a code for that item. Store’s like PSA and others gun shops are not in that category yet. The government (DEMS) is changing this category so every time you try to purchase a fire arm it will be red flagged. Please let me know what you think about this?

Been making and designing knives for over a decade. Truth is, most people do not carry fixed blade as a tool. They only see a knife as a weapon. They seem to think it's either illegal or too cumbersome.
There's things I'd have incorporated in design which I've learned through hard use. One is a slightly exposed pommel to steak it in and separate firewood. People often say not to use a knife like a pry bar, I say need and ingenuity drive design. So get out of that thinking and design the knife around the way YOU use it. That's exactly why I make my own. But what does a guy know if he's not recognized by a guild, haha.

Looks like a sweet knife, except...
Without a prominent lower finger guard/hilt it would not work for me.
If I ever had to stab with it, I would NOT have confidence that my XXL hands would not slip onto the edge. Hilts do not impede cutting for me because they rarely hang lower than the thickness of my fingers anyhow.
I am sure many folks will love it. Color me jealous !

So is a small knife with a kydex sheath. I am sure I could get one of similar quality for less and still be USA made. If you are going to say it's a great knife show a knife of similar quality and yours in action to show why yours is better.

Sheesh, Keelan has spoken! Hey Fieldcraft, I don’t think this guy is very impressed with your product. You better do what he says otherwise you might not get his approval…

Is it true this knife is over $300?
Gonna have to upgrade the steel substantially to justify that kinda price. Otherwise it looks like a really great design. Another thing on the sheath though. Folks with sheaths that posture the handle above the waste are usually folks who's knives sit on the shelf.
Drop it down then put on a dangler.

I would not spend this much on a knife I intend to subject to hard use.

$300+ for CPM 154?😬 I'd rather buy a Bark River in CPM 3v or cruwear.

Decent but can get lot more for the money elsewhere. You’re going to pay large premium for anything associated with Fieldcraft Survival name on it. Like $40 tourniquet carriers 🤣🤣
