I think IMSA/Le Mans racing is so horribly underrated, the drivers are humble and the engineers are the best. F1 is corrupt and will never recover from the horrid engine restrictions, INDY CAR will never get past the crap drivers that cant race around other cars, and NASCAR is controlled by sponsors. IMSA is getting more popular with more car manufacturers investing cars in the sport. The best looking cars have come from Le Mans/ IMSA.
+Benjamin Kuhl: You should have been around in the 80's and 90's it was a hell of an era to see them in person. Sad part is that very few people came to enjoy them here in the states. Great era though wonderful cars and memories.
Agreed. Now we have ford entering and basically reviving the ford GT for racing and the GTD class being modified to match world GT3 parameters. BMW is entering its new car, the bently and Lamborghini huracan were tested at Daytona. But yeah my dad worked on the Nissan program back when they pretty much owned the 1989-90 season. Cars were made to go stupid fast for a single race then be rebuilt haha.
That’s the Bentley EXP Speed 8 LM GTP raced in 2001 and 2002. The 2003 Bentley Speed 8 is an evolution of the EXP model, it’s the design that won Le Mans in 2003.
A lot of this was made nr Peterborough. I was part of the team that made the roof and cockpit. It was a tester for VW-Audi to enter high end motor sport even F1.
No, the Forza version is the Le Mans winning 2003 version (the most recent). The car in this video is actually the Bentley EXP speed 8, which ran in 2001 and 2002.
I'm watching this while there's a repeat of when they took that Continental Speed around the Rally Stage on Top Gear and man what an engine noise! I warmed up to this thing thanks to Gran Turismo 4, although that wasn't the same model as this one...
I assume you mean R18? seeing as R8 is the road car. Also this car was made by Audi engineers and was driven by audi drivers. they just got green suits with the bentley logo instead of the classic audi colors and the iconic four rings.
no, he means the R8. the Audi R8 was the legendary LMP that Audi used in the early 2000's before the Audi R10...it was this Bentley's main competition. the road car was named after it.
Ian looks positively TERRIFIED throughout the drive, until it is time to get out of the car when he finally allows himself to feel the joy of it all. Can't say I'd be any more relaxed though.
I thought it was nicely illuminating, shall we say. 'I AM a motoring journalist.... don't you know...?.... so.... yeah, I know some stuff, I've seen some THINGS....' 'Ok... (I'll need more elbow room then....)'
Without a frame of reference it's easy to think these machines are larger than they actually are. The regulations require them to have the capacity for a passenger but not that they have to be comfortable : )
is it a 2002 variant? surprised Bentley kept one running, thought it was only the 2003 winner they bothered with. I like the fact that even with a passenger guy smith aint fucking about. I suppose cos its not a winning car, so not as valuable, they can beat on it more.
The ride of a life time! BAN hybrids and hyper cars. They can have their own series. Along with those "E cars". Bring back "racing". Get these other manufacturers involved!
That's probably the most beautiful thing ever to have gone around Le Mans.
I think I'm starting to prefer the simpler look of the EXP Speed 8 compared to the car they eventually won with in 2003.

totally agree, bring back this beast!!
Don’t forgot, Formula 1 sucks nowadays because only one driver wins
And now Le Mans is getting ruined, as after 2020, LMP1 will be replaced by the Hypercar class. There really is no motorsport worth watching anymore.
I would eat my own hand to get a ride in a Mazda 787B Le Mans car :D Ive seen many Le Mans cars, but never been in one :)
::: HammerStudiosGaming ::: time flies
the passenger was like man another lap and ima pass out lol look as his breathing and his chest rising when the car is entering the pit XD
haha i was thinking the same thing 1 more round and he would have been
sick :-D he was happy it ended there ;-)
Yes he was happy, for him the best part was the ending lmao XD
Heh not really surprising, that cabin is just about snug for a single driver, probably hard to share the oxygen between two people...
herminio perez I'm guessing adrenaline was getting the better of him =D
XD

Love this, but... can we keep the camera pointed toward the track next time, please?

guy in the white is like...."excuse me sir but you are crushing my testicles please hurry up so i can take a breather
Great video! Many thanks!!
This looks like so, so much fun!

I believe that is the bentley EXP speed 8
the cockpit is made for one driver only, so they have to modify it for two people thats why its so narrow
That poor old man..smiling and Code Brown at same time
@DEVASTATOR478 what does the veyron have to do with this video?
Ian looks positively TERRIFIED throughout the drive, until it is time to get out of the car when he finally allows himself to feel the joy of it all. Can't say I'd be any more relaxed though.
that was the most awkward cockpit cam ever
That car is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would thumbs up it, but it was my first lmp on gt5...
That's the tightest place he's ever going to be in.
Brutal British track machine!
Bentley should make a new version for Le Mans 2013-14. It's such a beautiful car, sounds better than the diesels
Very jealous but I think they may have to work on passenger comfort......... :0)
Such a great car!
Good vid!
Love it. Amazing.
I thought it was nicely illuminating, shall we say.
'I AM a motoring journalist.... don't you know...?.... so.... yeah, I know some stuff, I've seen some THINGS....'

They seem sorta compressed in there.
Without a frame of reference it's easy to think these machines are larger than they actually are.

thumbs up if this is the first lmp car you picked on forza 4 and now finally watch a youtube video on it
Indeed it is.
One of the last proper le man Specials
dude this is one speedest car in the world
is it a 2002 variant? surprised Bentley kept one running, thought it was only the 2003 winner they bothered with. I like the fact that even with a passenger guy smith aint fucking about. I suppose cos its not a winning car, so not as valuable, they can beat on it more.
The Bentley Speed 8 is better than Audi R8...who agree, thumbs up !!
AWESOME
Awesome English car
BENTLEY!
I think he thought it was a great idea till he pulled out the pits ,yeah he thought fantastic ,I'm back in one piece ha ha
The ride of a life time! BAN hybrids and hyper cars. They can have their own series. Along with those "E cars". Bring back "racing". Get these other manufacturers involved!
I want a model but they're all sooooo expensive🤑🤑🤑
Not even street legal
Xerro No Vatimo what does street legal have to do with a toy car
df do you mean "toy", if it's not street legal, you can't use it commercially
Xerro No Vatimo the original comment was referring to a model aka a toy
Xerro No Vatimo You could buy a speed 8 kit and make it street legal. I've seen some street legal super lights in Vegas.
That's awkwardly close....
I'm going to win the lottery, then go buy a ride in that car. Yup, that's going to happen. Yup.
Guy was reduced to a dribbling mess lol
NOT made for two
@tankosl who the hell cares about comfort :O
Asphalt 6
Pinche viejillo se iba cagando del miedo, jajajaja
