私はまな板がダメにならぬよう、新聞紙を敷き、先が真っ直ぐなオープンプライヤーを口と反対側に刺して開けます。包丁がダメになりませんし、一回でパカッと開き、食べる部分を取り出しやすいです。
ティースプーン等で内側のカーブにそってすくい取りっていますよ♪

Sea urchins in New Zealand are best in December, specifically when the Pohutukawa trees bloom. That's their spawning season.
If you ever make a trip back to nz, it might be worth spending time with some Māori divers.

I began watching your videos whilst on a student exchange in Mexico 2 years ago and even though i've never had the opportunity to eat such foods I always find your videos incredibly satisfying and a barrel of laughs. When I was 7-8 years old I was in Thailand I think...one day i was walking on the sea floor and there was no visibility at all so I stepped on a big sea urchin. What followed was going to the hospital to take the broken spines of my foot and 2 weeks of antibiotic syrup. I still remember the bottle ( i am 35 now). The bottle was white and translucent with a pink cap and the syrup itself was yellow and tasted like pineapple.

I think it’s fascinating when you teach us about the creatures you’re about to eat 😁 I’m British, but I watch quite a few Japanese channels, I must confuse TH-cam because I’ll get Japanese adverts 😂 no, I don’t speak Japanese 😂 I know some food words, some adjectives for food, all not very useful unless I want to buy soy sauce, fried chicken , garlic etc 😂
As for people complaining about people using clean hands without gloves for cooking at home need to get a life 🙄 the only time I use gloves at home for cooking is if I’m making burgers with raw meat, I don’t want it under my nails or to share bits fake nail. I only use 1. I see so much on here where people are wearing gloves to cook their own food…it’s crazy! All those gloves go to landfill!
Hands are perfectly designed to be extremely dexterous and have a great coating called skin that’s easy to clean 😁
Don’t get me started on people selling food with gloves on then touch dirty money with them 🤢

Best sea urchin is in australia friend! I had it at just any old restaurant in brisbane for a cheap date and it tastes mildly bitter but also salty and sweet. so it didn't taste so strongly.
