Memorization is great, and you should know what to do in an emergency, but when the mental checklist is complete and the airplane is secure, pull out that checklist and make sure you did everything, don't simply rely on memory.

best to commit most of the items of the checklist to memory...BUT...its especially important to crosscheck all your memory items with the actual checklist...no one is perfect...and in the face of an actual emergency...youre bound to forget one little thing that could have been crucial to your check....checklists are there for a reason...therefore, use them

Aviate, navigate, communicate. No point wasting time getting out the checklist if you have it committed to memory if your less than say 2500ft agl, but first and foremost is to fly the plane.

Rizky D . Exactly right, id much rather know that checklist off by heart then be looking down at a checklist and not nailing that 68kts (172Sp) right the away around the field. flying the Airplane-communicating when you can do so safely and maintaining navigation/control of the Airplane.

If you turn your master/battery off before final... how are you supposed to get your flaps down? I guess turn it back on, put flaps down, then turn it off again? WHAT IF on short final, the pilot forgets this fact, goes to extend flaps, and they don't come out when he needs them too?.... I think master should be turned off after flaps are out and you opened your door, and just before touch down, master off.... Just saying.

@MrTrustdesa you started it first, looks like our flight schools have different SOP's... and u say that i havent flown a plane before? lol

If the pilot gets the engine restarted on land, they can continue to final destination. They should try this every day, unless the fuel level is too low.

@MrTrustdesa lol... engine out checklists should be memorised to save time, checklists take time away from flying the plane, what are u talkin about i haven';t flown before? i have my PPL...

  • @jjovereats

i would try to fly the plane, the navigate, then restart, then communicate.

Why? So the pilots jump out and the plane crashes uncontrollably? Also how the hell are the pilots gonna wear the parachutes?
Don't forget cessnas fly at like maybe 4k-6k feet when crusing? that's plenty of time to land and probably not enough to jump out

every small plane (Cessna and Piper etc ) should include parachutes.
    Im not joking

i dont reccomend pilots take out their checklist, pilots should know it without reading it.

@MrTrustdesa lol fs noob... i know all my emergency checklists off by heart... this saves time, which in turn save your life.. i have no idea why you said i haven't flown a plane before, judging by ur uploads, u have around 100 hours flight sim experience, get a life

    First: Battery off
Second: Contact ATC and deploy flaps
    Yep, nice unprofessional video.
