From one Paratrooper to another, thanks for posting the first vid back in May of '16 when you bought the truck. I was interested in getting one, and your video was the bad influence that pushed my interest to obsession. I've been daily-driving a Boyce-Built bobbed M35A2 for 10 months now. I'm very, very happy with my truck. Thanks again - Maker
Brings me back. Flying down a fire road on Ft. Bragg, no top, on the way back from a jump, pedal mashed to the floor and a full load of paratroopers. Company commander standing up in the back feeling the wind and wooping louder than the engine. "YAHOOEE!" Probably spend more time working on it on the motor pool than actually driving it, but damn well worth it.
I personally like the 6x6 look but your truck looks awesome it is very well done it’s a shame you had to sell it thank you for the video and caring enough about American automotive history to restore this beautiful truck thanks and God Bless
As a daily driver, we burn through rear tires every year or two. Once bobbed, the truck drives so much better. No tire scrub, steering is much easier, the bull gear whine is far less, and the acceleration and fuel economy is improved by quite a bit. I've got a full length bob with the stock box. In this setup, tires can be as big as you want and in Michigan, we have no lift restrictions when the vehicle is over 10,000 lbs. For a daily driver, bobbed was the way to go. See "jim beam deuce" to see what a full length bob looks like. Pretty much the same setup I've got but in green :)
I've always thought why remove the axle. If I don't want it for daily driving. Then why not just lift it up and chain it to the frame. They have lots of individual lift. You could even disconnect the drive shaft between the tandem axles. And have it when you feel like off roading. You may not loose the weight like a Bob but it would still be easier to turn for daily driving. Semi have floating axles for when needed. Just something I've always thought.
@@roger111ify : I Agree with you airborne, shorter wheelbase in the mountains or anywhere off road is the way to go especially if you don't need a 3rd axle for hauling tons of ordinance and supplys.
Great looking truck, good shape - clean. Would be fun. A buddy asked "why do you need that?" I am thinking "we live in Minnesota, what don't I need this - at least 6 months of winter a year." What couldn't you carry/pull?
Hey partner, tell your buddy that the right question is " why would you not want that? Because the beast is as close to a tank but with out a turret... and to answer your last question....EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING! goodluck buddy.

Hey partner, it's a hi lift jack...on the side. The data plates I bought on line they are new copies. They were cheap no more than 20 bucks. I don't remember the website.
Hey, Brotherman... I'm sorry to bother you. I bet you're over these videos... Maybe you could help me. I've got one of these headed to me from Boyce in the next few weeks. I'll paypal you enough for a case of beer for your trouble... Thanks!
No don't worry about it, the truck comes titled from Boyce so you can get a tag that's the good news, the bad news is I was not in Florida when I got a license plate since I'm still active duty. The hardest part is putting the packet together.

Hey partner, there are some times where you have to double clutch, but for the most part you don't have too. As for down shifting you can but you will grind gears since some of the gears are not synchronized.
Good question? But why would you want that, the beauty of the deuce is its Hercules multi fuel engine. The multi fuel capability is a major reason why you would like a deuce and half.
@@roger111ify : Thank you for your response. The Detroit 6V71 produces around 220/230 HP @ about 2,200rpm, what is that, about 3 times what the Hercules produces?, and the multi fuel capability, in my opinion, how often would the average "Joe" run into a situation where you can't find diesel #2, most think that you can dump "Anything" combustible in the tank and be on their merry way, not necessarily true, filtering and diluting/blending heavier patrolium based products is necessary in order for the injector pump to digest these products. think you can filler up with premium unleaded gas?, you can use gas but, if I remember correctly, gasoline can only be used in an extreme emergency, and may only be used for a distances "LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE",so that option would be 100% useless to me, If the owner/operator ran their tank so low to where they had to resort to using Gasoline to get to the nearest fuel station, well, they deserve to be stranded, always carry a couple of Gerry cans with fuel. I'am by no means kicking the Multi-Fuel engine in the teeth, but...this is only my opinion, two things should have been improved with the Deuce early on in production, (1) The uni-directional tires.... flat out dysfunctional, that 16,000lb vehicle should have had a much larger footprint from the get go, (2) The engine was underpowered. I will say though, despite some setbacks, the Deuce was and is a fantastic truck, no two ways about it. I would give my left arm for a bobbed deuce like the one you have, that's a very nice truck.
