Hello - diehard Purrely player here! You've brought up some super cool points during the video and I loved watching, I agree with most of them but I would like to address a couple and maybe answer a few of the questions. Point 5 about 60 cards - so yes, the deck can be bricky sometimes, much like any deck, but increasing the number of cards in it won't help unless you are playing a hybrid. The issue with 60 cards for pure Purrely is that none of the quickplays represent a 1 card combo besides Sleepy, and that combo is not strong. By playing 40ish, the player optimises their chances at drawing into multiple QPs and allows for both strong going first and going second hands. It also increases your chance at seeing cards like the field spell, crossout, etc. So yes, there are many cards you don't want to open (cats which I run at 2-2, trap, multiples of non-QP spells), it is just more benefitial for the deck's gameplan to play 40. Point 6 about discard engines - the reason these were dropped is purely (haha get it? purely?) because they did not provide enough advantage for the player to lose out on precious non-engine and they could easily be recouped with Noir draws on your opp's turn. The high discard cost is also the reason you will see many non-engine slots in Purrely go to board breakers and other cards that just provide more value to the player than 1 to 1 interruption (ie. fenrir, drnm, lava golem). Point 7 about targeting protection - following on from the non-engine space discussion from my last point, the reason for not playing cards like planet pathfinder or sauravis is because, tbf, they are pretty crap. The field spell is important but not important enough to waste a slot in the decklist, over non-engine, on a normal summon like pathfinder that 1 doesn't procede your gameplan, only insulate it, and 2 doesn't act as st fodder for plump to eat while its in the gy. sauravis is the same for the arguments against pathfinder, only slightly better in that it doesn't waste a ns and worse in that it doesn't get you fs access. Purrely's non-engine has to be spent well and if you waste it on things like Pathfinder, Sauravis and discard engines, you will struggle to play going second as you won't be able to both facilitate your gameplan with discards and break your opponent's interruption and board. I'd recommend keeping decklist tight and just playing strong value st interruption. Crossout and Terraforming are both valid and I chose to side the former and main the latter. I hope this helps and sparks a bit of discussion as I love to see innovation in Purrely as like you said, it can be a bit one note. Love your videos man, Super Quant is super cool and even better when combined with Purrely (btw 60 is extremely valid for this build). (P.S. Happy :) OTK has always been the best gameplan for the deck, just sadly hard to always pull off esspecially in such an aggressive going first metagame.)
Hey there! Thanks so much for watching through and for the great feedback and discussion! I'm grateful for the perspective, and for you keeping it friendly and kind. :) Thinking about each point you've said, I believe these points are indicative of the Purrely community's overall findings, which I understood to be: A desire to keep the deck as fine-tuned and minimalistic as possible, to increase consistency of making Noir. But as you and I both know, this has resulted in a "Solved" deck, with very little room for innovation or experimentation, outside of changing out non-engine as the meta demands... When you accept the points you've made above, and build your deck this way, the gameplan always seems to boil down to "make Noir or bust". In other words, we can't even rely on Happiness or the rest of the engine's shining qualities and strengths. I think knowing Purrely's other strengths as well as we both do, you and I can agree that while this makes sense for Purrely as a standalone pure variant... it doesn't accurately represent Purrely's FULL potential, which is what I tried to illustrate here. I think we all should consider that Purrely's FULL potential is not to be found in playing the pure variant or in ALWAYS making Noir. But rather, in combining it with other strong supplemental engines. In this video, I suggest playing it with Fiendsmith, Snake-Eyes, Tearlament/Shaddoll, Danger/Darkworld, and even some crazy Tour Guide/Pegasus decks. These would be 60 card decks that maximize the 60 card space to give you BROAD and BRANCHING gameplans, instead of relying on "Noir or bust" This to me feels more representative of where modern meta strategies are heading, with things like Fiendsmith/Unchained/Yubel being a primary example. This is what we have to do to keep up. We have to rely on back up plans for our backup plans. We have to present the opponent with too many things to intterupt. In these instances, when all you have is one Purrely spell, the best thing I've found to do, is to make Beauty or Happiness. Beauty is a great threat on its own, with the ability to negate and to take a card off your opponent's field. And just the attempt to make it will very likely bait interruptions. Along the way, if that gameplan is stopped, you can usually launch the other engine in your hand. Or, alternatively, if you recognize a weakpoint in your opponent's board, you can use all the other engine in your hand to bait your opponent's interruptions, until they think they've stopped you, and once you've successfully cut off all their counterplays, you can use the one Purrely spell to activate Happy OTK!! I think we can both agree that pure Purrely is weaker going second. I've been a proponent for strengthening Purrely (and Super Quants) in the going second matchup, to the point where going first is no longer necessary. And this is coming from an archetype that's entire gameplan is to combo off and make a boss monster that completely shuts down the opponent. (Sound familiar?) In this "agressive going first" meta, I think the only option for a deck that is weaker, like ours, or Super Quants, is to give ourselves a way to win going second. I believe playing a Hybrid Purrely build with flexible board breakers like this, gives you a strong going second presence. This is what I think allows the Purrely engine's shining "going second" qualities that I highlighted to come to life. Even though I'm a Super Quant Purrely fan all the way, I think Purrely's full potential is yet to be discovered and unlocked. We've reached the "end" of the Pure Purrely discoveries.... We reached it long ago! We've had it take us as far as we can get. Now I think it's time to see what else the deck can do! And I can't wait to see it. :) Thank you again for watching and commenting and reading!

Long time Super Quant player here! Love seeing your videos and will give this a try! Have you noticed how similar Super Quant and Purrely are in general? Both have a lv1 starter which is also a fairy, are based around Xyz, can end on an unaffected monster that shuffles opponent's cards to deck, being unaffected depends on the number of materials, have a "get a random 1 out of 3 cards you've picked" effect, use a spell card for Xyz summoning, have to go trough a similar process of summoning regular monster -> lower rank Xyz -> higher rank Xyz, have 4 color coded "middle stage" Xyz monsters, they summon an Xyz monster with one monster as material, both have an option to return up to 3 monsters from the graveyard into the deck, also have a spell/trap effect that targets and then attaches 1 more material to the targeted Xyz monster.
Thanks so much for watching! 💜 And absolutely, this was one of the first thoughts that occurred to me upon my introduction to Purrely. I saw them and I said "I can make these decks work together" and that started my journey!

In my MD list for purrely i play sauravis in the main deck, i also happen to play herald of arc light meaning that a spare ghost girl and a spare purr is an omni which floats into targetting protection
Thanks for watching! I'm stunned to hear another Purrely Sauravis user! 🤣 Thanks for watching! And wow I love Herald of Arc Light made with a ghost girl and Purrely. Diviner of the Herald sounds like it would be great in your build, along with maybe Herald of Orange Light! Diviner could send Trias to summon a Purrely, or Herald of Arc Light to add Sarauvis.
I wanted to talk abut that card somewhere in the video, but it's really truly and unfortunately unnecessary! If you are in a situation where you can make Expurrely Happiness, you are almost always going to be better off making Expurrely Noir, or Zeus, or just trying to OTK with the little Happiness. At least, that's what I found! I did run the Expurrely Happiness back in the very first builds I had of this deck, it just never came up!
@@PlusNfinite I was referring to situations wherein Epurrely isn't quite enough to win, damage-wise and your leave them on a sliver. I imagine the point was to act as a finisher with 1.5k burn slapped on to it. I tried it for that reason but it's not really feasible to fit in any more.
@@gravethestampede3454 I think the best thing in that situation is just to have another monster alongside Epurrely Happiness to get that last damage, if you can!
i ve never played the deck, but i think fenrir is a cool addtion, it give discard plus i can help hard making the rank 7, of course it clashes with terrortop, but just saying
True, Fenrir is a nice card... but I think Terrortop beats Fenrir on every possible front for this deck! Alpha master of Beasts is not a bad secondary form of removal, since it doesn't conflict with Terrortop and it is a NON-TARGETING form of removal that ISN'T reactive-- you get to choose when you activate it. If you wanna play something else to help going second, I think that's a good choice. Thanks for watching and commenting! 💜

Sees deck list “what in the Flqk??”
Hahaha! Try it!!! You'd be surprised.
With happy otk, if you fail to win, you could just make Expurrely Happiness to dome them for even more damage but no one plays that
I wanted to talk abut that card somewhere in the video, but it's really truly and unfortunately unnecessary!
Yes
Hahahaha
There‘s the super long text and I just wrote ok and I get the heart😂
