The original Little Britain pulls no punches, the USA version was tame in comparison, I highly recommend watching an entire episode just to get a feel of which sketches you can clip for the channel.

Yeah the Mexican lady in the British version is an Indian lady with an Indian accent whom Margery Doors doesn't understand anything she says and just assumes she's saying something stereotypical Indian

The British version just has a nastier streak. It puts me off a lot of the UK version but the USA version is great fun.
Meh. You can just watch the best episode of each sketch, and never have to watch anything else. Every skit is the same joke every week.

A lot of British humour is to use self-deprecation and taboo subjects, by playing the roll of a bigoted fool, often playing up the roll of prejudiced against or antagonistic towards a person but at the same time making a fool of the bigot and turning them into a figure of ridicule or at best a fool
Indeed, it isn't being racist, homophobic or body shaming- it is mocking the crassness and prejudice of the fat fighters character "Marjorie".

So glad you watched this as it's an example of how not all vocally left-wing people are "woke", esp. in the UK where we can take the piss equally. I'm liberal, leftist, fat and gay AF, just like Matt Lucas (Marjorie in this sketch), but it doesn't mean I find everything offensive. Back when this was filmed, everyone was less sensitive, including leftists like Rosie. Nowadays both extremes are as easily offended as each other - it's as much a right-wing epidemic as a left-wing one. Also: so nice of you to give Rosie a "thumbs up", she'd like that 😄

The whole premise of little Britain was taking the piss out of the the type of person those characters portrayed as in laughing at the prejudice person. For me comedy is the ability to laugh at yourself and not be too serious about it. That said there is a distinct difference between that and hurting people for your own amusement
It's not politically correct which is why It's funny and beautiful to watch, nobody does un PC comedy like us Brits, South Park a close exception.

Totally agree with your comments about Rosie O'Donnell. I have lots of respect for her doing this sketch. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall the first time she saw the script!

Hope you find the full episodes lol. Theres a bunch of different sketches each episode, Lou and Andy are sort of the staple characters so id recommend those but would be cool to see a whole episode or just multiple sketches in a video coz these are great lol

So, the point is the joke is not on Rosie, its on the other character. It is making fun of these type of people who run these clubs, not the fat people themselves or Rosie D. Ricky Gervais talks about this in an interview where he explains that his jokes are very carefully thought out and you have to realise where the joke is aimed.
"Morbidly obese" used to be a term used by medical doctors in relation to people whose overweight actually carried highly increased risk of death to the patient; as opposed to someone who might be perceived, by non-doctors, as unhealthy, possibly even slightly was, but was not clinically described at such high risk.

Its a shame in some countries comedy has to be 'politically correct' ignoring the fact that comedy in itself is exaggerating these views.
Watch the original UK Little Britain, much funnier. Bubbles DeVere would be a good character to check out. But there are loads of others... Maybe a good idea to react to a whole episode. Keep up the good work!

I always respect celebrities who don't take themselves too seriously. Comedians especially. Got to be able see the funny side of being trolled if you troll others.
I'm not sure if the original Little Britain is on here. The BBC removed it from their own service: iPlayer. This was around the same time as the black lives matter campaign. They may have taken it off TH-cam
Its was a crazy decision. Many from the black and south asian really had no problem with it. They loved some of the characters that Matt portrayed. The Centrist left middle class white folks were the ones that pushed to have it removed for its own agenda but as usual everyone thinks it was the Black and South Asian community that pushed for this. It was far from that. Just thought I make that clear. I am that ethnic person that loved the characters on this show.
Back when you could joke about this stuff, now people are offended(Even Rosie) about the current thing! 🙄

There are tons of characters in little britain you are going to love , Daffyd Thomas , Vicky Pollard ,Dudley and Ting Tong, Sebastian Love ,Anne ,Andy Pippin. etc
Also there is a 2nd series with the same actors of little britain called Come Fly with me .. A little britain style spoof on all those airport reality shows of the 2000s.
The American version is tame when it comes to it's humour.
Americans have the stupidest sense of humour on earth.
For the time being you may not see this kind of comedy perhaps for a long time who can tell the future. Much of the comedy that breaks you up along with many others comes from the 70s,80s,and 90s, which speaks volumes without my detailed comment being needed.

I TOTALLY get you giving O'Donnell props, but three points;
1) This was FOURTEEN YEARS ago.
2) Both Matt and David have both 'cancelled' many of their own sketches since then.
3) I don't _think_ the whole 'Body Positivity'movement was a thing back then...
