I know people hate Danzo and all but cmon, you cannot tell me that he was a bad shinobi. Bro had a very unique summoning animal, he also had mastery of Wind Jutsus. For his age he was able to take down some Anbu, give sasuke a challenge (if it weren't for his susanoo then again you could argue it was slightly fair cuz of his BS arm) and he even had a cursed seal trick up his sleeve.

There's also the silliness with Shisui and believing he would've actually prevented the massacre with Kotoamatsukami, even though it likely would've been broken out of so fast. A lot of hate on Danzo is either because of filler, the shinden (which aren't written by Kishimoto), or just having a very unrealistic perception of the Naruto world. Lots of people blame Danzo strictly with Hanzo turning against the Akatsuki, when the idea or Danzo completely convincing Hanzo was filler. In truth, it was stated that Hanzo was extremely paranoid and decided himself that the Akatsuki were a security threat, so allied with Danzo to take them down. Danzo did extreme things, but that was his job. He did everything to protect the village. The ineptitude of Hiruzen is what forced him to do the village's dirty work. Any amount of weakness is enough to warrant an invasion by another village, as we saw Uzushio and how it was wiped out. The Leaf was under constant threat, be it because of people wanting the Byakugan, instability within the Leaf, etc.

Well he IS a Kage level ultimately, he got rekt by Sasuke and relied too much on his Plot Armor no Jutsu to get anything done so we tend to put him as weaker than everyone else at Kage level but nonetheless he is the last surviving Teamate of Hiruzen still in active duty. And Hiruzen at his prime mustve been a BEAST given dude scales up to Tobirama in their edo form (slower due to lack of teleportation but had a better reaction time than Tobirama) that took him back at the time of his death so its still Old Hiruzen. Technically before they retired im fairly sure the other elders were quite the powerhouses themselves, weaker than the others ofc, but still on the more powerfull side of the spectrum for the village at the time
if only kishi kept him alive to the end of the series. he would have a arm full of MS, 6th path powers and full susano with unlimited chakara like the rest of the uchia.
as a shinobi, I still like danzo's abilities, he has potential but is weakened in the script so that sasuke is satisfied with his revenge. but overall, I still hate Danzo even though people hate hiruzen more than danzo. The hidden village had many opportunities when he was one of the elders in the hidden village, but his cowardly attitude of not wanting to be involved in anything that could destroy the village and taking the opportunity to take the hokage seat, and several times being involved in vital incidents even for the sake of the village, I still hate him. I'm still not satisfied with how he died heroically when fighting sasuke, but as an antagonist I still appreciate him, he's a character created to be hated.
To be fair, if both had only normal classic sharigan powers, without the shenanigans, it would be more interesting to watch a fight with equivalent powers and habilities Sasuke would be saved by its protagonism, but he could have a really hard time with Danzou

Guess Asuma or Hiruzen could not have been a proficient wind-style users.
Asuma once stated that wind style users is actually a rare case only a few ninja could capable using wind style to highest peak and using in real battle, the common element that mostly being use is Lightning and earth style because those two element are very versatile in battle and easily being used by many even not ninja
Sharpening the wind is the hardest thing to do according to asuma, Asuma is also shock too hearing that naruto’s chakra changing is wind style. The entire naruto series we just only see 2 person (besides naruto himself) using sharp wind style, they are asuma and danzo. Sasuke could’ve been dead if he 1v1 danzo without Madara (obito) watching over him, danzo in here not wanted to go all out. Even itachi not sure if he winning against danzo

lets not hate on Danzo bruh this guy could actually do that much damage to Susnaoo with just Wind Style is already quite a feat far stronger in AP than 4th Raikage.
Well he IS a Kage level ultimately, he got rekt by Sasuke and relied too much on his Plot Armor no Jutsu to get anything done so we tend to put him as weaker than everyone else at Kage level but nonetheless he is the last surviving Teamate of Hiruzen still in active duty.
And Hiruzen at his prime mustve been a BEAST given dude scales up to Tobirama in their edo form (slower due to lack of teleportation but had a better reaction time than Tobirama) that took him back at the time of his death so its still Old Hiruzen.
Technically before they retired im fairly sure the other elders were quite the powerhouses themselves, weaker than the others ofc, but still on the more powerfull side of the spectrum for the village at the time

as a shinobi, I still like danzo's abilities, he has potential but is weakened in the script so that sasuke is satisfied with his revenge.
but overall, I still hate Danzo even though people hate hiruzen more than danzo. The hidden village had many opportunities when he was one of the elders in the hidden village, but his cowardly attitude of not wanting to be involved in anything that could destroy the village and taking the opportunity to take the hokage seat, and several times being involved in vital incidents even for the sake of the village, I still hate him.
I'm still not satisfied with how he died heroically when fighting sasuke, but as an antagonist I still appreciate him, he's a character created to be hated.
