Standing Room Only, from Phoenix and Los Angeles, brought home their fourth set of medals with a 3rd-place finish at the 1997 Int'l Quartet Contest in Indianapolis.
I really love these guys’ sound! It doesn’t sound like they’re “trying to blend” but are just singing in their natural, great-sounding voices, which happens to lock in quite well even though you can pick out each voice quite easily. Their sound is SO doggone pleasant.
To me... The lead, Fraser Brown, seemed to make overtones with his single voice alone. So mellow and seemingly effortless. The four of them don't look like they're acting like they're having fun - they look like they're really having fun! Lastly, many quartets sing the right pitches but don't blend so well - but these guys' sound is really cohesive and warm - they're very deserving medalists!

Fraser most definitely makes overtones with his voice alone. A rare gift, not to mention the man himself, and his unique barbershop arrangements.
