Thanks for sharing this touching personal moment with us. It's content like this that gives me hope for the future of social media. Not only is this inspiring for those of us that have lost our fathers, it reminds us how important it is to make the most of our time with the loved ones that are still here. I can't thank you enough for creating this video, it has truly made my week!
That is so nice that your dad is so into PC's. My dad is wheelchair bound and he doesn't wan't to go anywhere, so he just sits infont of TV the whole day. And beacuse of that im trying to get him into PC's and internet, trying to explain him how internet is the window to the world, and how much better it would be for him if he would learn how to use PC and internet, but he doesn't want to even hear about it. Doesn't want to have anything with PC's. And im so sad watching him spend his whole days just watching TV.
Totally ran that red light at the end.😅 Great video. I'm here in NC and 5 states away from my dad. Wishing I was closer as he is in poor health with his later years.
These videos are honestly my best videos to watch, i´d love to have a father or relative who I can "support" with pc upgrades. Love to see the reactions from a life upgrade in any form, but since PC is my only profession I can´t really help many of my relatives! Kudos to you !
i lost my clara (mom) the past year for a rare medical condition on her blood (mielodisplacia condition) and i so painfull for culdn't be there...this video really toch my hart man....and thank again for do this...cuidate mucho y dios te bendiga de verdad gracias..
Nice Video and your dad have a cool PC before the upgrade excuse that I am very old retro and I love the PC case when I was in my prime. Great upgrade and your dad are going to love his new PC.
I think the wall-PC solution is kinda interesting. If you could have the space around the front panel sealed off, the hot air from the computer wouldn't heat up your room. Obviously, you also save some space, which is nice.
When you were in the dark room, unplugging the computer, it would’ve been a great time for you to have your dad hold the flashlight, and then yell at him for not holding it right. I know an old car joke, but it would’ve been great. 😂😅😊
I’ve never broken my mom’s computer, but she hates when I upgrade her computer. She plays WoW and I practically have to force to use a better computer. But I got around her objections by simply not “giving” her the computer she’s using now. She stays at my house because I have better computers and internet and since I’m a truck driver I’m never home. My sister still lives at her house. She has a computer at her house but mine a lot better, even the one she’s using that is the slowest machine I own. It plays WoW extremely well which is why I haven’t forced the upgrade on her yet. Half the RAM slots don’t work and I now have the parts to address that, but it’s an i7-7700k with a 6GB 1060 so next time I go home I’ll be switching her to a completely new build.
i think your Dad is my age im 67 now and retired your good Son im the one fixing computers in this house my son is doing IT at uni and i know alot more than him
The 3080 is a kick ass card. Im running one with a 5950x on a X570 Dark Hero motherboard, with 64 gb of G Skill Trident Z ram, and its a pretty slick system, I think the 3080 will go down in history as a great right along side the 1080ti. Another cool video, have a good one man.
Nice to have a dad like that. Remember "he's an expert"^^ btw: why the f HDMI and not DP, Monitor? No TV by the looks of it... btw: the 3080 was no surpise that it got so darn hot, that was a fail with the FE and several partner cards as well...cheap paste and pads and no backplate pads, to get the heat off. thats why pad modding and exchanging the crappy standard stuff became fashion quickly, dropping temps 20degrees or more. In later revisions and most 40cards, they did this from the getgo then.
@@DLMtechgarage if you are going to make tech videos then you show good practices. At least for the people that watch to learn good practices. Just my opinion… it’s your channel.
I have thought about building my dad a PC set up for flight sims, particularly rotary wing, he isn't much of a computer guy, but is a retired Army Pilot, I think he might like taking it for a spin occasionally.
@@zingwilder9989 at the moment capable PC gear isn't an issue, I have like four fairly current systems, including a Ryzen 7 5800X, and a 12400 system that is pretty solid I have done zero research, but figure either the 3080 or RX 6800 I have should be good enough. The peripherals Will require some research.
I didn''t catch what motherboard he was running.....if it's a z590, then an 11trh gen would bump him up to PCIE 4.0, which is a nice increase for the graphics card. I took my youngest son's computer from a z490, 10700k to a z590 1170k and he picked up 30-40 FPS on his games (tested the 10700k vs 11700k on the z590). Just a thought, since you mentioned possibly going to a i7-11700.....
You'd save a lot more time which is money and less gas using new parts, rather than bouncing back and forth with used outdated stuff. At some point you are spending more money (Time is money) redoing everything or piece mealing parts. Especially family as they can and usually are the worst customers when it comes to expectations. Build a new rig and forget about it for 8 years or so aside from regular maint. Pro tip: If the Vcard and the Monitor have Display port, USE THEM. Makes a world of difference with higher resolutions especially on larger screens.
@@DLMtechgarage Yeah they keep wanting me to do an email transfer. They can easily just send over a phishing link instead of a real one. I told them it was PayPal, or cash only. They then ghosted me.
Yes, it is. Not a huge one, but certainly an upgrade in a vast majority of games. In general the newer the game the more the 2070 pulls ahead, but on average over a dozen popular games the 2070 is 13-16% faster than the 1080. Check the 2070 vs 1080 video on Jarrod'sTech for example, or the TechPowerUp relative performance database. 1080 Ti on the other hand is a whole different beast that easily smashes the 2070.
Zero fucks given about making a backup first, even though the Mainboard got swapped. Removing heatsink while vertical. I'm not sure if I would have been happy about this.
Explain to me how, in God's name, your dad's PC is still alive in such a hole he made for his PC. The machine can't breathe. I am just puzzled about it.
Hey man is there a way to take a lenovo I5 mini and put it in a shell of a Tandy1000hx and make keyboard and mouse work? id love to have a resto mod of my very first pc lol
I lost my Dad 11 years, I wish I had given him a book to fill in, I have had so many things I wanted to ask him since!
You are very wise doing this.
The part with your Dad was awesome. I lost my Dad in 2013, I miss him so much.
it was nice to see your dad's setup, he did seem quite concerned about you messing with his pc XD
yea i think he still has ptsd from last years disaster lol
That is a really sweet "Dad/son" clip! Thanks for sharing! 😊❤
Good job DLM as always kind to the people around you

thank you for everything DLM good job .
I felt nostalgic when you gave the book to your father. I lost mine 17 years ago, I would love to have it back at least for a day...

You should update the case too with something that fits in to the hole in the wall. 😁

he did and did not enjoy it as much. hes loyal to the flight sim lol..
wait, how did a bad gpu ruin a hard drive / nvme disk?
gpu had a short and shorted out other components.
