    Watching violin progress video is what make me start learning. Great to see so much progress. "You have to learn the violin when you are a small child" is such a big lie. Thanks for sharing your videos

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      *".. .when you want to become a professional violinist" You can start anything as an adult and be very good at it. But professionals have to start earlier because there are such percise improvements that a lot of people can't even hear. And of course the concurrence: I think it's nearly impossible to get better at anything as an adult beginner than a person who started as a child and ptacticed the same amount of hours a day or even a little less. Also, he is really really good. Most people improve so much slower.

      @ i would say it depends. if you are a musician to begin with its alot easier. you allready developed alot of the skills necessary.

    • @ellenqian3179
      @ellenqian3179 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      well...it's not a lie. If you want to be a professional classical musician, then you certainly have to learn it at a very very young age. But if you just want to be an amateur musician playing for fun, it's never too late.

      @@ellenqian3179 what you said is 100% false. The human brain doesn't work that way, it's like Language, sure it's easier with a baby sponge brain to absorb all the information however, it by no means, means that you cannot learn a language at an older age, my dad is 56 and has spent the last 4 years learning German and has just got his Degree in German Language... so yeah, completely false.
      What holds you or anyone back is their attitude, attitudes like the one you appear to have. Have more faith in yourself.
      We can do everything children can do, it just take longer.

    just to warn you: for those that are here watching and thinking this is the "usual" progress - it is not! Even for children!
    Either this man has experience with instruments before, he practices for hours every day or he is exceptionally talented (and it might very well be all of these combined!)
    So please don't feel like you can't do this if you didn't make as much progress - for most people this takes much longer!
    Just wanted to add this as I know for some watching videos like these can feel discouraging, especially if you compare his progress to your own progress. Also, some will get unrealistic expectations of what it takes to learn the violin - because for most, it is much harder than practicing 3 years and being able to more or less play Czardas.
    to the creator: great job of course and I am very happy for you that you have learned so much in this short amount of time! :)

    • @vibratoqueen450
      @vibratoqueen450 5 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Yeah, isn't it so amazing how he was able to gain SUCH a great understanding of how the instrument works just by watching TH-cam? Just LOOK at that Czardas - he almost has a Sautille! He probably has a very organized mind as much of learning how to play the violin is learning the process of practicing and improving things - thinking logically! This guy has to be one of the most talented people I've ever come across. I've been taking lessons for 1.5 years and believe me, I certainly didn't think this was typical progress!

    • @ethan7550
      @ethan7550 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    This is really impressive. His bow is surprisingly good since he has only been playing for 3 years! Just a tip though, maybe practice more scales and technical work instead of just pieces because that way when it comes to actually playing pieces it will seem a lot easier and will sound so much better. I can definitely recommend Kreutzer’s 42 etudes for studies, they’re really helpful. But this is seriously impressive and inspiring. I can tell that he worked really hard to get this far in such a short time.

    • @stew148
      @stew148 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kay D3333 It's probably the way your fingers move and how your arm weight sits into the bow. I'm not a professional so I'd recommend speaking to a teacher about it. But I can say that Kreutzer's 6th and 7th Etudes played at the frog can be very useful exercises for you.

    Anyone came here hoping you can play like him in 2 years. The truth is no, especially if you're self-learning. This guy must know how to play another instrument before or must play violin more than 2 years or must be a prodigy. Even when you play violin for 12 hours per day, you couldn't reach this level unless you're very talented and have been gifted in music.

    One thing I can say, not just for violin any instrument if you loved it that much and were willing to make a deliberate not wasteful practice because this count deliberate practice, and try to understand the instrument it may take you 5 years what took someone 2 years but if you understood your instrument you will even surprise yourself And please don’t be discouraged, love your instrument and work smart not hard. Archer is a very dedicated person you can see his love for violin in his playing.

    You're good. I've been playing since March 2019, about two and a half months. Within one month I was playing about two dozen pop tunes, but still have plenty of scratching and coordination problems. Your sound quality was excellent from the outset for a beginner, really good control. I just bought two bluegrass books to learn which should give me good exercise on fast fiddling and a better ear for improvising around simple melodies. At 23, you can easily become good enough to make money with your instrument. Good luck.

    1 to 2 hours a day practice is something I can't put in as i have a full time job, family and other commitments in my late 40s. I get at best 6 hours a week and usually about 4 hours only , excluding the 45 min lesson itself. Practice usually comprises 30 mins here and there added together. After 2 years 3 months I just started the grade 5 exam pieces, I do not master each piece for each grade but follow my teacher's pace,. I don't take the exams. I am not close to your standard, at least in terms of bow control in the czardas or intonation.

I did play violin for several years in school as a teenager but was never very good. Perhaps it’s time to pick it up again. I was thinking the cello would be nice to try but I have very small hands, so likely not the best choice.

    Pretty good for about 3 years, At the 8 months point I could see some VIBRATO pretty good vibrato for a beginner. But as a violinist or a violist there are 2 different types of vibrato.1st one is WRIST vibrato, Wrist vibrato is for like fast songs,2nd one is ARM vibrato, arm vibrato is for slow songs and you move with your whole arm. But over all not bad.

    at the very beginning I was impressed with the Christmas song... at 1 and 2 wks I was learning hot cross buns! You MUST have had lessons in a stringed instrument as a child.

    This is impressive. I am like at your 3 months after 3 years ... (injury sucks half of my time away and I had to relearn from scratch). Can you release a video on how to maintain a straight bow because your Bowing is very straight
