    I dont think you realize how much your videos are helping other ADHD people around the world. . Im over here in America, and i have seen 3 or 4 of your videos about Atomoxetine and made me go for it instead of getting back on stimulants that do not work for me . So ... thanks for all of the personal experiences. Been a big help.

    Hello, I stsrted taking 40 mg Stratera 6 days ago. I tried stimulants and didn't want to stay on them. I'm very excited for it to kick in. I also want to add that I don't know if it is just a placebo but it may have begun working already. Good luck to you! And wish me luck!

    A doctor in my school prescribed me 80mg Atomoxetine per day, since previously prescribed Adderall(25mg per day) had significantly worsen my sensory sensitivity issues.
    A major side effect (of taking 80mg Atomoxetine per day) is that I feel sleepy during day times, while I get very energetic at night.

    • @changliu4425
      @changliu4425 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Another side effect of Atomoxetine is that I have mood swings when the effect of the medication start to wear off (the first 40mg of the 80mg daily dose).
      Unlike Atomoxetine, Adderall keeps my daily routeing to be more regular. Instead of being energetic at night, I have the urge to sleep on time, however the side effects of Adderall made me have vivid dreams throughout the night (I usually don't have dream when I sleep), and I end up had reduced sleep qualities. Also while Atomoxetine increases my attention span, it only mildly(comparing to Adderall) improves my executive functions.
      Caffeine usually doesn't have significant effects on me too, In fact, it can even help me sleep sometimes. However, when I drink coffee and take Atomoxetine at the same time, their effectiveness have been boosted simultaneously, which means I have noticeable increased alertness, longer attention span and better executive functions. This gave me the idea of taking Atomoxetine and very low dose of Adderall, since I presume the combination will introduce the benefits of Adderall, while free me from its side effects. The doctor said that it is uncommon to combine stimulant with non-stimulant, and refuse to adopt the combination. I don't consider that "uncommon" is a convincing reason though.

    • @FindingYourSerenity
      @FindingYourSerenity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No it certainly isn’t! I’ve read an article that people combine them.

    • @NoelleMar
      @NoelleMar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@changliu4425 yes it might be uncommon partly because people are very prejudiced against stimulants lol. I’ve heard numerous experts recommend it as sometimes the best option. But I’m sure that the more doctors who don’t do it because it’s uncommon, the less it will be used and it will remain uncommon lol.
      I mean yes multiple medications can have more side effects. But frankly I wonder if using that kind of combination more often would help ADHDers with mood more than antidepressants + one or the other.

    Thank you so much! I’m going through this now after increasing my dose from 40 to 60. I’m exhausted all the time. I am going to ask my doctor to go back down on my dose.

    • @kennyhumble3699
      @kennyhumble3699 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi I'm going to start taking meds today! What was the reason you increased your dose? Also why did you want to go back to decrease?

    • @OMGodd3ss
      @OMGodd3ss 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kennyhumble3699 For context, when I started taking the medication I took 18mg for a week, 25 for a week, 40 for a week and then my target dose (what is considered normal for an adult) was going to be 60 for a month and then we would see how I felt. I was doing amazing on the medication at 40 mg and in the beginning of my starting the 60mg, but then at about week 3 on the 60 mg I started feeling exhausted all the time. The only thing I could attribute the exhaustion to was the change in dosage, since it typically takes 3-4 weeks to feel the effects of a new dose. So we are titrating down to hopefully find the sweet spot where it is effective without the tiredness. I hope this helps and I wish you luck with finding what works for you!

      That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen from my experience and research anything that works on the opioid receptors will cause withdrawals once you try to stop taking or you miss a dose of whatever it is thats been working on opioid receptors that you been taking for a certain period of a time depends on the persons body but I know people who were only taking something for only a few days and already had mild withdrawal symptoms once they stopped the medication or missed a dose then I know some people it took almost 6 months before they developed that nasty side affect but one thing is for sure you will eventually develop that problem if you are regular taking something that works on the opioid receptors and I don't wish that on anyone it is hell and a close friend of mine said he would rather have his wreck and break over 20 places in his body and emergency surgery to stop hemorrhaging and remove spleen and broken bones than to ever go through withdrawals from meds that worked on opioid receptors that its the pure devil its been 3 years and he said he's still not the same as he was prior to the medication. Anyways just trying to make ppl aware that anything the doctor prescribes you if it works on those receptors to discuss with your doctor about it and if whatever medication it is risk of taking outweighs the cause of taking then ITS NOT WORTH IT.

    Thanks for the video. Just started on 25 since my brain is really sensitive to meds. We shall see how it goes.
    Caffeine in simple terms acts like fight or flight. Your heart beat can increase, you don't feel how tired you really are, and you more or less are pumped and ready to fight for your life or run like the wind with higher awareness to "the threat".
    Caffeine is awesome but really dirty kind of energy compared to Vyvanse but Vyvanse messed with my anger and my sleep. So coffee in the go to non medication.

    On atomoxitine, just taking 40mg for about 2 weeks. Having problems with drowsiness and brain fog.... but haven't felt any change in my attention level.... apparently can take 4 to 6 weeks for it to kick in.. just hope the brain fog doesn't stay =/..

    • @FindingYourSerenity
      @FindingYourSerenity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      pat nik if you’re tired then you won’t feel more attentive. No one does when they are tired. I started on 10mg then went 18mg, 25mg and built up that way. 40mg is a high dose to start on.

    • @sf3testvids
      @sf3testvids 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FindingYourSerenity oh sure I can understand that. I guess what I meant was I just hope the negative side effects don't stay and my body gets acclimated enough that I start to see improvements on attention and less to no drowsiness... I've been off controlled medication for a long time, due to having Ritalin adversely effect me... So maybe they decided as I was older a higher dose would be ok.. will have to see..

      I'm glad you agree. I think I am a slow metaboliser of this drug anyway but it does seem odd to push you to try a higher dose even when it's not needed.

    20+30 divided by 2 is 25 :) if they are in pill form you can simply open them up, mix them, and divide them equally.
    Taking 5mg off of 30 is a bit harder, but also doable, for example by making a roughly uniform line and using a ruler.

    I don’t think it’s better to take non stimulants as side effects of Strattera can be even worse for some people than stimulants, and they seem to be more effective for many people. However I do find it strange that they tend to start on such a high dose. I think I already mentioned this in another comment, but it sounds as through starting on that low dose and gradually raising it really reduces many super negative side effects I’ve heard people complain about.
    I’m starting on 40, and I didn’t think to ask to start on a smaller dose. I might ask if I can cut the meds in half to start or however that might work.

    • @FindingYourSerenity
      @FindingYourSerenity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I've come to understand that this is true. My understanding has changed a lot over the last few months thanks to some videos I have watched. Just because I don't get side effects from my meds doesn't mean others don't. I wish more people understood this so I might make a video on the doses.

      @@FindingYourSerenity I actually asked my doctor to start at 10mg of Strattera too, so I'm holding onto the 40mg for now when or if we raise the dose to that point! So that's kind of a relief lol.

      For guys specifically an Snri might not be a good option as Ssri have been shown to cause some degree of testicular damage, Ssri are often associated with post Ssri sexual dysfunction which in rather many cases seems to be rather persistent in some cases even permanent.

      I probably shouldn't say this but if it's going to take that long to get help you can actually buy Atomoxetine online legally from abroad because it's not a controlled substance in UK.
      You looking at around £30 for a month's supply of 40mg
