      Agreed but she has to feel comfortable in it or otherwise she'll just be hyper conscious of her own body the entire day and not be able to enjoy it. That's not necessarily a super rational thing. I mean, I'm usually either an 8 or 10 and I feel the same way about my stomach area that she does. I could never wear a dress that's super tight there on such a day either.

    As long as she's losing weight the healthy way, slowly and by eating right, that's not a bad problem to have! The wedding's just one day. Also, I've seen these ladies in action. They never fail to come through.
    It's much worse when brides intentionally pick a dress that's too tight and plan to lose weight before the wedding. That never works.

      Actually yes it is, you can't continue to alter a dress. It doesn't work that way. There's a reason you get measurements taken when you order a dress

    • @unapologeticallyamy9031
      @unapologeticallyamy9031 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I lost weight before my wedding purely due to stress. I had measurements taken, a dress made, I went in for an alteration and the difference in my size was extremely noticeable. The tailor recommended against alterations until 5 days before my wedding and thank goodness because I couldn’t stop losing weight. The only downside is that I had my dress made because the pattern I wanted wasn’t available higher than a size 16. By the time the wedding rolled around I fit into a 16. I spent so much money having a dress made than I would have spent buying the already made size 16.

    5:35 I loved that AL explained this. I lost 60lbs and went from a size 18 to a size 10/12. But when I go to get clothes, I still see that insecure fat girl who just wanted to crawl in bed and hide. I don’t think this gets enough attention, that losing weight isn’t just physical but psychological. If you’ve spent your whole life being bigger and told to lose weight, when you finally do it seems impossible to get rid of “the fat head”.

    In that last dress, she doesn't even LOOK plus size. For the record though, I hate that term plus size. We're all a different shape and you go by what size you need. That's like calling a skinny woman a "minus size", it's still derogatory. If I had a dress shop, I would have all sizes, from 0 to any size she needed, and all in the same room. I've seen some clothing stores, where plus size clothing are in a different area....why? Al and Jo, you make this show so wonderful, and you make all the brides feel so beautiful. Wonderful ladies. Much love from Canada xox

    • @catladyfromky4142
      @catladyfromky4142 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So if you hate "plus size" what word would you describe it? It is a fact that designers change designs based on plus sizes, so there has to be a word for it. Shapes for plus sizes are so different regarding arm/stomach/thigh considerations as well as overall silhouette.
      "Plus size" is not "fat size" "obese size" or even "large stomached size." Sometimes we have to stop policing words when words themselves are arbitrary in terms of negativity. If we don't stop, we won't have any words left that don't offend someone.

      I don't completely find offense with the term plus size but I do hate that a lot of designers refuse to make the same cute clothes and dresses for plus size women and if they do make plus size clothes for us they are hella expensive. If I had a boutique I'd love to work with some designers and make a way for cute plus size clothes to be more affordable and accessible to the public.

    • @vanillathunder11559
      @vanillathunder11559 ปีที่แล้ว

      Theres nothing wrong with plus size. It means extra. Normal sizes are small through extra large. Plus size means there are extra X's and that's fine. Some women have extra in certain body areas. It doesnt need to be normalized because we shouldn't normalize unhealthy body weight. Truth is truth.

      Exactly. I have a feeling that these dresses are much more expensive than similar designs in smaller sizes. More fabric, a different set of patterns, etc. But I also think that most of these brides have had so much trouble finding suitable dresses that they are almost willing to pay whatever the right dress will cost, so price is not as important for these ladies.

      Maybe I can help-
      Cut your favorite snacks that you eat most often to being an infrequent "reward" instead of a frequently eaten favorite snack. Only keep your meals, as they are, or make small adjustments to substitute fiber packed veggies instead of some amount of carbs. Find a substitute for your previous snacks in liquid form- a new delicious tea sans calorie heavy sweetener perhaps. Look into Stevie as a wonderful and healthy alternative to sugar/honey/maple syrup or artificial sweeteners (which can mess up your gut microbium and lead to weight gain and immune problems). Stevia is least expensive when purchased online or from a health food store in liquid form. Increase fluid intake. Drink calorie free liquids constantly, especially right before meals. Some caffeine in these drinks can encourage light and then heavier yoga and/or pilates. If you are up for changing your actual meals, see what processed carb heavy foods can be substituted for whole grain and legume alternatives. They keep your satiated for longer than anything processed and they fill you up faster, calorie by calorie. Calorie rich foods such as ice cream or cookies should never be consumed right before bed as a "desert" if you are trying to lose weight. Instead have them with breakfast so that you utilize they energy they give you instead of metabolizing them into fat.
      I have lost 80 pounds within 3 months. The main part of these tips that helped me was increasing calorie free fluid intake. I suffer from chronic pain (which reduces my ability to exvercise) and ptsd myself while my sister has fibro so I understand better than most.
