Congratulations you are the only youtube channel I've ever subscribed to. A few minutes in and I can tell I'm gonna be coming back to these videos alot
After days of looking for a good F head tear down I came across this one. Great job man. The perfect amount of in depth explanation. Can’t wait for the rest of the videos!
Thank you, i am in the process of re-building another F-head out of another Jeep. I will be filming the whole process, this was a spare engine that i tore down.
great video! My 56 CJ5 w the 4-134 L-Head has an issue with compression. I'm only getting about 25 psi. Is that a gasket issue or do cylinders need to be overhauled? Something else?
The 54CJ 3B died a couple of months ago. It needs a rebuild. The local shops want $3,000-$4,000 to do it. I may try to tackle it with the help of a neighbor. This video was very helpful. Thanks.
Why does everything look so clean? I am so used to at least seeing heavy varnish in such engines. I'm even more used to seeing some degree of sludging. 19:00 I think early L-head engines didn't have filters. Because of that, they needed to have something external added. 45:10 Yes, and many machinists can regrind the old ones if there is enough metal.
Great video. I'm in the process of rebuilding the engine in my '59 CJ5. One thing I noticed on the valve springs. It looked like the #1 and #3 springs were installed upside down. The end of the spring with the tightest coils goes on top. If installed upside down, I hear that you will start to get valve float at higher rpms.
Yes it is possible someone before me installed them wrong, check out my later videos. I am go through another F-head more in depth than this one. Thanks for watching.
After this video I just watched what happened to measuring cylinder and bearing size measurements didn’t see a video on that and assembling the motor back together and getting it to run?
Will be the happiest person if i see this engine back to running again.

Thanks, I'm in the process of tearing down another Fhead. It will be 100% filmed on camera. This one was a spare that's still disassembled.

Could be a weak, pump, loose bearing tolerances, or no timing gear oil jet.

Getting ready to rebuild the F134. Will you have part 2 out any time soon?
I can, but i don't have any need for the engine right now. I can do the build with new components if people donate.
Just bought a CJ 3B - thank you for the help
