I liked how if you put on English subtitles on you can see a list of roman numerals starting at 2:20. The listed numerals are "XIII I XXV XXV XV XXI VI IX XIV IV XXV XV XXI XVIII XIX IX XIV XIX" or "13 1 25 25 15 21 6 9 14 4 25 15 21 18 19 9 14 19" when you translate it to it's normal numbers. If you decode it through the A1Z26 method you'll get a message of "mayyoufindyoursins" or for your convenience "May you find your sins". We all could most likely guess that's basically what the translation of the voice saying to us, so uh ... Idk why I wasted a couple moments of my time for this, but I hoped you all enjoyed and uh ... I'll get going I guess ...

they way project moon is developing the "city" that their games are set in fantastic, this slow worldbuilding throughout multiple games is fantastic and I'm excited to see more to this series so that the this dystopian-esque city keeps on growing. They really are keeping up with the great work
It's similar to why there's not a full list of ship classes in Star Trek, it gives the writers and the design team freedom to come up with more, if and when needed.
Just discovered this project and got immediately invested, now realizing because of you that there are two prior games linked to this. I've always wanted to play Lobotomy and now, when I get paid, I'm buying Lobotomy and Ruina.

I absolutely loved the mystery I encountered when looking at the ending of this video where we hear something that sounds like Angela's line of "May you find your book in this place" but if you turn on your subtitles it shows roman numerals. Long story short I turned the numerals into numbers then ran them through A1Z26 decoder and got a coherent message, so hype for limbus!

In fact, the city is self-sufficient under the management of companies A, B, and C.
Your math is a little bit off on the population density. The radius is 100km, which means its total area coverage is 2x 3,14 x 100^2 which equals to approximately 63000 square kilometers. with a population of 6.3 billion after the drop population density comes at around 100k/sqkm. Which is still a lot, but somewhat more realistic. You'd be trying to fit the entirety of Earth's population in one giant city.
I come back to look at the trailer to see what everything means after canto 4.
And well... all i got was some images of past chapters and that Damien was one of the silhouettes in the blue tinted group.
"Crown The Most Violent to be Champions"? sounds like the Colors, but then again, everything else in the city could also fit.
I doubt it's the Colours, seeing as it shows people (assumedly) affiliated with the Wings, but it wouldn't be too outrageous to say that, given Argalia has a habit of making music out of people.
@@chonglengli It's easy to come to such conclusion when you think about what the 4 Colors we met thus far tends to do, like slaughtering thousands for the sake of justice, grudge or a goal.
Could also means EGO users. Since you need a strong ego and will to be one, it makes sense that those who wields ego or falls into distortion are the most violent.
So, it's a mobile game. I'm not really sure how I feel about this, but it will be interesting to see how it turns out. The song is an absolute banger btw

Looking at the "Identities" section on the website sure looks like Gacha mechanics, and with PM already alking about wanting to make a F2P Mobile game in the past... Yeah, my hopes for this game are pretty much dead.
@@DyingSunset sounds a lot like the key pages mechanic with Ruina, except worded in a way to match the flavor of Limbus. Keypoint is that it's still too early to confirm things since I'm not sure if Project Moon has the size or resources to uphold live servers for long. Especially since they had worse backlashes for less

its planned to come on PC, atleast but its made for Android mainly, this could mean its has somewhat better optimized performance than Lob or Ruina

2:00 - Finally! I was so curious about the actual city map, and here it is. This tells a lot of information. Also the current date and population of the city, i suppose. Also there is corporation for every letter of English aplhabet, but apparently Z corp doesn't exist, interesting. (Or maybe it's off the screen, above Y corp)
You can see a better map on the webpage. No. Z corp doesn't exist. And that's pretty curious.
We have already seen map in the illustration for the Distortion Detective and District 26 is absent. I think it may have been completely destroyed though it raises question why didn't A Corp restore it. There is also a possibility that Z Corporation lacks its own Nest for some reason. Or maybe Z Corp and District 26 never existed in the first place.
Edit: I have visited Limbus Company site and it says that the City is ruled by 26 wings and is divided into 26 districts. So, I am even more confused about Z Corp's Nest now. Maybe it is located somewhere outside of the City or maybe even... underground?

tbh i kinda feel that the number is actually the amount of deaths globally after some set date(ie start of the event that left the City the only livable place on earth)(and its actually shown reversed(or a huge scale ressurection is taking place?)) , fact that date is JUNE, 985 is interesting too

I think the mass genocide incident could happen either in hong lu's or ryoshu cantos.
It all depends by how much time passes between cantos. Between canto 4 and 5 and 5 and 6 there is a long time gap because we had to go to the lake and all, so who knows.
I think it'll happen in either canto 8 or 9 or maybe it is the end of the 'inferno' part

district 9 for example had around the same death count after someone put on mozart
Weird seeing a map with L Corp still there after the events of LoR.
L nest was still present and populated in LoR and after library beeing tped out to the outskirts it will still stay untill someone will take that place /shrug
L Corp is still around it's just the nest (to my understanding) fell into an extension of the backstreets and all the branches collapsed. In Distortion Detective (and LoR, too I think) the Thumb and the Index were fighting to gain control of the Nest to stabilize and sell it to a new wing.
Also weird to look back at the lore and realize we don't know shit about district 4 or (assumedly) D. Corp.

Despite my hype for the trailer, this is certainly an interesting move from a business perspective. On the one hand, a consistent cash flow is great from a financial view. On the other hand, the choice somewhat splits the fandom because…well, gachas.
Despite some of the hate I’m seeing launched in PM’s direction because of this, I genuinely hope that - even if they take a hit - the blow isn’t too great. They’ve made amazing games and have a well-crafted setting on their hands, so I’d hate to see the any region of the company's fanbase dealt a huge blow 'cause of this.
I’ll still play the game, gacha mechanics be damned. The characters, setting, story, and - presumably - gameplay all seem high quality, despite it still being a year off from release.

After seeing the canto 7 roadmap teaser, the one with the scythe is one I assume to be Don Quixote's priest, who is also in the soame group at Demian. 1:50
I don't mind the mobile aspect, especially if we do get full PC release.
But the potential for gacha raises worries. It's very hard to make a good gacha game, and basically impossible to make a gacha element that doesn't feel irritating or exploitative. I also worry about how the story might function as a live service updating one VS. a contained if they did go that route... I hope it is just LOR-style and the red flag's in design are just flags. I would hate for a story and developer that feels very nice and good to suddenly feel dirtied by the nature of microtransactions
There's actually some really genuinely great plot-centric gachas out there like Sdorica, Another Eden and Guardian Tales that are essentially just F2P single player RPGs with gacha elements that exist but don't impede your ability to progress or experience the story that's being told.
@@BiggestBeeflord Oh I know for a fact theres legitimately good gacha games out there, I would just heavily prefer this to follow the LOR style of "gacha" where it's non-microtransaction but mechanically rng in the same way. Gacha... They always tell you can still enjoy the story and media, but by design you're encouraged and pushed to the gacha elements because those thing's unlock ways to actually get through it. I like Arknights, for example, and yes everything is completely clearable without the 6* and 5*s, but you're going to have a much smoother experience not having to account for the power differences while doing the same content. At the same time, gacha is all up to chance, so even while being F2P the chances you get locked out of content you want to have the most just through bad luck is high. There are many good gacha games, but people really enjoy them *in spite* of being gacha vs. liking that the gacha is there.
The other issue is that if it is gacha... well, gacha works best a long-running story. There's a reason why gachas are live services that you can release new banners and new content for. They rarely 'end'... PM has produced some lovely stories with great finales, is this the same or is it planned to be continuous with no clear end? If so how will that affect the story quality, the other developments like LC: B?
But ultimately, we don't know anything. Being mobile is not it's own red flag, mobile games can be great- but I do hope they clarify some of the details of how these aspects work because there is a reason why gacha has a bad reputation. I would also just really hate for media that engages so heavily on themes of exploitation and capitalistic abuse to well... share that feature.

Edit: looking back, they were putting it on console, but no idea on when it'll release for console.
@@LevenLappi I'm personally hoping that the choice to only advertise google play is just indicator of it being primarily designed with mobile in mind. It means you generally have things a little bit simpler to account for controls, but its not impossible to make games designed either way multiplatform. From a business perspective, it would be an odd choice to make the jump to a phone exclusive even if most people have phones, just because so much of their audience is PC and the theming in PM's content isn't the most friendly to a wide mobile audience (Horror and mature rated) Hopefully some of the details get clarified in the future so that people know for sure!

The newest side story is "Leviathan" but you should experience the universe like this, lobotomy, distortion detective, library of ruina, Leviathan.

Just crazy theorizing here (after reading some other theories and the lyrics), contains spoilers, so read at your own risk if you haven't played Lobotomy Corporation and/or Library of Ruina:
The song might be about Ayin and Carmen, why? Because Ayin _might_ be the true *''Heretic''* of Carmen's group, I said this base off the possibility he desired the creation of the library, that is also the reason why he didn't give Angela a *''Closure''* in Lobotomy and expected things to play out that way, as indicated by Binah siding with Angela despite the fact she said she wouldn't interfere with his plans, which means that this outcome _was_ part of his plans, including everything that happens afterwards, but how would that be possible? because he is playing Xanato's Chess with Carmen, betting in that humans can be saved as they are instead of exposing them to the *Seed of Light* , which either makes them Distortions or manifest their E.G.O., but he can't do that _without creating it first_ , the reason behind that is that he is using it to ascend to a higher plane and make a *Stable Time Loop* where he sets everything to create it and prepare for humanity salvation, thus, scenarios where things like Roland killing Angela or Angela killing Roland plus the Sephirots/Librarians are his lost, if not a mayor set back at least.
If he was such a ruthless person that didn't bath an eye when people close to him died or were killed by his own hand, why would he care to save humanity? And on top of that, what reason could he have to go against Carmen, whom he loved and adored blindly? The first answer might tie to the fact that in the end, he _broke_ anyways, being incapable of bearing with the guilt he wiped his memory and set the 50 day loop where he would help his inner circle, now turned Sephirots thanks to him, face their traumas and find peace at last, which also would help creating the *Seed of Light* and amending Ayin relationship with them, making him very human thanks to understanding and appreciating them; the second answer is more tricky, but maybe at some point Ayin began to look back and compare Carmen to Angela, noticing that the latter was _indeed_ a faithful copy to the former (at least, before the 50 day loop), which set his sirens off and making him wonder, why if they were so similar he feel so disgusted at Angela at beginning? Then the doubts began to fester on his mind until he though: *''Nobody could or should be that perfect''* , there is also the possibility that his future self rigged things for him to _notice_ and eventually rebel against Carmen, this could also be the reason One Sin And Hundreds Of Good Deeds appeared seemingly out of nowhere in Hokma Floor Realization, Ayin set it that way, which may also imply he lives on inside the library and the light, more than likely retaining his will and guiding his friends and comrades, one could say that the library is ''An Ark Sailing To The Future''.
You know, it always bother me what Angela said in Netzach realization flashback, something about Ayin giving her a choice in the end, and it was also in Lobotomy with Ayin requesting (instead of giving an order) Angela to close down the corporation, it pretty much gave her a chance to escape.

On the fact Dante is inspired off of Dante's Inferno, the character doesn't have much backstory, so I thought that was the surface level of why Dante has amnesia and PM was just going to use it as a plot device to take creative liberties with. However, I then decided to take a peek at their source material because "Why not?", and "Maybe this will help with characterization!"
It was far more than that.
Firstly, it has to be acknowledged that Dante in the books is just a self-insert character for the author himself. Whatever backstory they can be given has to be inspired off the real deal. Secondly, the Divine Comedy (the book trilogy written) is set in a time not in the present of the author, but quite a bit before (more on this later). Theoretically, the manager we are seeing post-amnesia and are going to see pre-amnesia are just the equivalent of this relationship between character and irl Dante respectively. Let's call pre-amnesia Dante by the name Durante for short.
Instead of actual time travel into the past or just seeing divine prophecies in the present, we're in a bit of a limbo (get it?). Dante themselves is back at square one, no memories and no progress to define themselves as a person-- an effective metaphor turned literal on the Inferno being set in the past. They could very well be the core essentials of their character before the City happened. But time waits for no one, and Dante is no exception. They "live outside of time" with their clock head, Serpent has yet to be relevant (yet), they clearly had enemies, but everything else remains in the present except them. Because the story was being written in that present about the past. PM are actual geniuses for being able to make such an intricate metaphor, but there's more.
Technically, that present day is their backstory. Because pre-amnesia Dante is the author, with the way PM is handling this. And we already know that PM is not afraid to reference real people. Hermann is the irl name of the father of The Metamorphosis' author, Franz Kafka (who had daddy issues). We are following the character's journey to recognizing and rejecting sin, our manager of Limbus Company Dante, but are they the same person as Durante?
They are *technically*, but **before** things went wrong.
I went to read the Wikipedia page for the author, Dante Alighieri, and I was baffled at how well this could fit into a PM backstory?? Like, this man was living a drama, and for what? The plot?
He fought (only in one battle, but it was an important one!), he joined a Physicians' and Apothecaries' Guild to sell books and poems (lol), and was engaged in politics. This was intense. I didn't know half of what I was reading either without going down a rabbit hole of links and tabs, because these aren't in my history or literature classes (it should be, it's crazy to the point it's interesting). And this isn't even the stuff PM could use as backstory.
So I'm going to touch on it.
Durante was considered a "bigwig" in the past, but no one knows what that means and everyone is theorizing about it. I firmly believe Limbus Company is still part of or relevant to the L District outside of the Golden Boughs. And by that, I mean a majority of their backstory or upbringing may have happened in the L District.
It fits most with whatever was going on with irl Dante while still keeping them separated from the Smoke War (because Outis and Gregor would know them if that was the case- they were a big deal). They could have easily been caught up in the aftermath of the collapse of the Library as it was the equivalent of the Wing of the District, and people would be fighting over who got the power to... well, power the District. Political parties could form, turf wars could ensue, and it's *just* tame enough to not participate in after the first battle (to be more detailed, go to the Battle of Campaldino).
This could also explain them being confident in taking down Wolf, Panther and Lion if not for their amnesia when even the Sinners' combined effort couldn't (on their own no less) while supporting their current not-knowing-how-to-fight circumstance. They weren't well-versed in fighting as a profession or commonality, but well-acquainted enough to fight in a full-blown battle for territories and Wings. It would be no wonder then that they thought they could solo the trio if well-equipped. Dante (irl) fought in the frontlines on horseback. They *could've*, just if they had *anything at all* to fight with. Keep in mind, we find them unarmed. They could have been inexperienced (fighting only once), but they could've been powerful too, and just caught off-guard. They fixed a head to themselves while running from the trio and (implied to be) fatally wounded.
This could be exactly how they gained their notoriety. Keep in mind, one of Dante's thoughts is also something along the lines of a faint memory urging them to step in as a manager with dignity and grace. Durante could have been a manger in the past. Not for Limbus Company, but still a manager. It was either their participation, or their later leadership role after the initial battle(s) that made them so popular. And when the Wing to your District has fallen twice in a row, you tend to appreciate a good leader.
However, this is where things hypothetically went wrong. They could've been exiled. At least, that's what happened to irl Dante (search up his wiki page!). He was exiled from Florence by, get this, a faction that branched off of the group he fought for. Talk about betrayal! This could also explain their UI being ??? in place of where we now see Manager. Durante wasn't Manager at that time-- not anymore. Though this is vaguely concerning. They could have just given themselves another title outside of "Manager", but they *don't*.
This could also mean the way Dante pre and post amnesia could be foiling each other. After all, they seem to have gained confidence in themselves. Dante's main sin (as said in Purgatorio) is Pride. That's right, the thing they objectively lack most when they first interact with these people! Plot twist!
But they may have both lost themselves. Recall Dante in Canto 5 taking a harpoon to the shoulder for Smee, and just saying the clock head was fine. They only see their worth as attached to their clock head and their role as manager, no matter how much necessary suffering it puts them through. Could Durante have been the same with the ways of the City, only seeing their worth as attached to their contributions- or worse yet- sacrifices? Is that why they have no title without their role? Because, outside of being a manager, they have nothing else to define themselves with?
This could be an Outis ("I am... nothing at all"?? See it?) parallel, which leads into our next point.
Their song (In Hell We Live, Lament) could give us some insight too. More specifically, through the verses several people have attempted to link to the Sinners. I believe there will be more than the song that will foil them and the Sinners. More specifically, now that we've got their backstory sorted, there's a glaring parallel I'm seeing.
Gregor foiled them in terms of the helplessness and lack of confidence in the situations they've been placed in (lack of info and amnesia on Dante's end, Gregor literally having a filter with the apples and being controlled for war). Rodya foils them in terms of thinking they were special (Dante being manager- essential for revival- "special" but not seeing themselves as such, and Rodya *wanting* to be special). Sinclair presents Dante's inexperience with the world, the hatchling imagery, etc. Yi Sang lost his coworkers, Dante lost those they wanted to protect (in a less literal death way). Ishmael couldn't see a reason to keep going after Ahab, literally claiming she would just die after avenging the Pequod crew. Dante claims they are "the lost leading the lost", and the UI filled with question marks doesn't give any good impressions either.

These are going to keep happening, and I've found something literal too. The chains both Dante and Meursault possess.
Dante, when exiled, was to pay a fine alongside it. However, he refused to pay the fine, partly because he believed he was not guilty of what he was being exiled for, and partly because his assets had already been claimed by the faction opposing him. This led to him facing the risk of a death sentence and being burned at the stake if he returned there. Meursault kills a man who attacked him first (under the influence of heatstroke no less), but seems to be judged more for his character than his crime. He accousts the chaplain who visits him because they attempt to have him stray from atheism and "fix his relationship with God", and that is what seals his fate to the death sentence.
Their chains are either a metaphor for being condemned to death by the hands of man instead of the universe (possibly God, in Dante's case), or isolation.
And in regards to the Sinners, there's something else of note too. Their numbers. I don't believe they were sorted by the order in which they joined Limbus Company. After all, Outis and Gregor are both at the back, and they're both veterans of war. They have the highest kill counts.
They are sorted by the severities of their Sins. Dante is the 10th.
Now, the Inferno (all of the Divine Comedy, actually) follows a specific number trend: 10. It follows this trend in regards to the definition of perfection (talk about pride). In Inferno, there are the Vestibule and nine circles of Hell, making 10. Purgatory has 2 levels of Ante-Purgatory, 7 Terraces of Purgatory, and the Garden of Eden making 10. In Paradiso, there are ten regions, but one of them id different in nature from the rest, mirroring Inferno in the 9 + 1 format.
Sinclair's number is crossed out, replaced with 11. One too many. This possibly shows how Sinclair will need to grapple with leaving his Realm of Light and seeing the City as it is to unlock his full potential. It could be why we are needed to guide him. But what does that say about Dante?
Whatever their Sin was, to them, it was for closure- completion. And it was *bad*, considering how many people died in Rodya's chapter. Having a lower kill count than Sinclair is not a high bar, and it's frankly concerning. Another key thing to note too- these are not sorted based on direct or indirect means. Rodya directly axed someone, but Sinclair ranks above her through having more causalties even though he didn't directly attack anyone. Durante could've been a serial killer, for all we know.
For a self-proclaimed "exalted poet" (see Canto 4 of Inferno), we probably should have seen this coming.
And I believe they strayed from the path of Virtue during their exile. Why not the battles, you may ask? Well, the answer's simple.
If Durante was anything like Dante in terms of action (and action alone), they may avoid unnecessary killing. Aka, they may have had a no-killing policy and only wounded people. This could be another factor as to why they were so well known too. They may not have wanted to kill people, seeing it as a mercy.
In Inferno, Dante accidentally breaks a branch off a tree that used to be a person in the second ring of the Circle of Violence, and kicks the head of another sinner in the ninth circle of Hell. This could allude to their acts of violence in the past if the ring doesn't belong to another Sinner, like Sinclair's ring of Heresy.
But somewhere along the way, this could have changed. "Please, a one-way ticket to Heaven" doesn't give many good signs, after all. Is it possible Durante could have started killing because they saw it as better than continuing to live in the City, hence the "Not so different from our Hell", "Not so different from our home" lines.
Could their Sin have been killing people in a sick, twisted attempt to "spare" their lives?
And if they are the manager to Sinners, are they not just a foil to White Night as well? Vergilius has already been shown with art where he's wearing a thorny crown, a reference to One Sin and Hundreds of Good Deeds. And in Inferno, Beatrice seeks out Virgil to guide Dante back onto the path of virtue. Faust recruited Vergilius.
If White Night has an assigned Devil, does that not mean Dante has a "traitorous" Angel? Someone as holy as a Beatrice figure? What if Faust betrays the wishes of Durante, having previously made a "deal with the devil" as her Sin, to make them a better person in the present?
TL;DR - Dante has a tragic backstory that foils them to the Sinners, has committed several atrocities in the name of good, and Faust is the Angel.

@TearPotion88 something I want to note about this theory:
1) what does durante mean? because that is the name(and spoilers for canto 6) of Dante special ability
2) I'm pretty sure the sinners are ordered in recruitment order(see: yi snag being the 1st one recruited by faust and him being sinner 1) and Dante being number ten tells us that "durante" knew and worked with limbus and made a contract
3) I don't think faust will be the "angel" because of 3 reasons, the first being that faust is the devil in her "bargains" and maybe her canto will reveal her having made a deal with the devil but so far she's been the one making the deals, the second being that Dante is a sort of "good" Carmen not seeing themselves as a messiah but on the same level as the sinners, people say Dante is a goated friend, not a saviour and it'd be weird if only one sinner was "special"
last of all the sinner that faust has the most connection to? it isn't Dante its oddly yi sang , aside from working on the gacha, they also talk alot offscreen(evidence being from the minis and intervallo) the first person faust talks to in the cantos' pass on is yi sang, them standing in the pose just flipped(lcb sinner) and them having the same dynamic as Roland and angelica(minus being married) it being:
black haired male
white hair, blue eyes female
both in the same line of work
the female being better than the male
