I think you may be a little confused on what they're implying.
Despite whatever had led him down that path, one of the biggest takeaways is that people were being very supportive towards him specifically.
Its his wife and child that people should've been there for as well, not solely the person who may have caused the pain itself.
Cheating can impact a relationship very heavily to where trust can be damaged. Whenever a child is involved as well, it makes things more challenging, especially for the child.
No disrespect to him, but I definitely feel as though people were on the wrong side when they were more giving their support and care for mainly and usually only him.
"We're here for you, man", "Here for you, Doc", and on-going comments like that or the ones mentioned by Cevnic.
It's the fact people we're giving him their everlasting love, some acting like its a mistake we all make, and so on. Not really any support directed towards the wife and or the child who are the victims in that situation.
