You ever watch Shark Tank or the market in general and there’s a company that’s been losing money for 5 or more years straight but everyone sees it’s a great investment? They’re set to double their tv deal money soon, 50% more teams = 50% more games so even more money for owners and the players, and because casuals don’t take 8 and 12 team leagues, regardless of gender - XFL for example, as seriously as they do once you get around 18-24 teams

The WNBA made around 200M last season. The NBA subsidizes 15M annually. The travel will cost around 25M annually, supposedly. The NBA does own 50 percent of the league though, and the teams the other 50, so…that’s kind of par for the course that if you start something new, you’re going to subsidize it out of income from something else do that’s already profitable. They’ll make it back
